  1. Just want to add that the judge for group 5 was just fantastic, a really lovely guy who was great with the dogs and enjoyed having a chat with exhibitors. A really great day of showing and very enjoyable :-)
  2. Nush - Dont just apply for ones that mention pets, just cause they dont mention them doesnt mean they dont accept them
  3. I love the great ideas of protecting your garden!
  4. You won't regret the travel, once it's all done. :D Although my X-trail gets called the divvy van now... never heard it described that way, but I can see the comparison! :p
  5. Stolzseinrotts - Thanks, I have contact Colin and booked my car in, yes we had a talk about the new sports wagons, he doubts he will do them as they are not even a wagon luckily mines an older model and he has them pre measured. I am not fussy on price, just the travel Thanks heaps guys!
  6. Hi guys I am looking at getting puppy bars in my car, so far the only place I know if is "Puppy Bars" in Ferntree Gully, does anyone know of any other places that do it in Victoria. I am currently located in Geelong Any help is appreciated
  7. I have 4 GSD's, all of whom sleep outside of a night, mostly there is never a peep unless there is something there. So I doubt it's a guarding instinct at all. As Shell said her dog expects to do it because she is expecting something to be there to bark at :-) Your dog is 5, has he been doing this for that amount of time? if he has started recently has anything changed? is it possible to restrict his access to the yard or leave the laundry door open for him to sleep and feel secure in?
  8. If he is barking only during the night, I would want to know why, I wouldnt automatically place him in a crate at night, as it could be making an underlying problem worse. Perhaps start by giving him something to amuse himself when he goes outside, like a nice bone, a kong etc. A sandpit with buried treats When you go out to tell your dog off, on one hand the dog is getting what he wants, regardless that you are telling him off you are going outside and paying him attention, so you could be infact reinforcing this behaviour because the dog knows if he barks you will come out. like a child who continually says "mum, mum, mum, mum, eventually you give in and go "what" just to shut them up Whats does his day consist off? Is he inside until you go to bed? I ask this because some dogs can deal with it, being inside from the time you get home and put outside when its bed time, others can not. For this many times when you get home, I would alter the time he is inside and outsise and mix up the time frames. That way the dog gets used to no routine and learns that being away from you is not the end of the world. Also an idea to maybe advise your neighbours you are aware of the issue and are currently trying to remedy it, the most frustrating thing would be a neighbour thinking nothing is being done to curb the dogs behaviour. Also if you are not home during the day, it is possible he is barking while you are not there aswell, neighbours might indicate this to you, if this is so it may be that the dog is suffereing from seperation anxiety.
  9. Yeah it can be done I work from 8.30 - 5pm roughly I get up at 5.30am every morning to run the dogs before I go to work, and from the moment I get home its all about the dogs my dogs are happy, healthy and well adjusted I agree, just because someone is home majority of the day doesnt mean that they spend time with the dog, it comes down to needing to work to be able to provide for your best mate
  10. I had a lady drop of some bearded collies I think, she was down for a show or something and wanted them to have a run around in our super playtime yard for a few hours and she would come back and collect them, fair enough... Now it was a wet, miserable day, so was a bit muddy and wet in the yards, when she came back her dogs had had a fantastic time, but were a bit muddy and wet, she cracked it and said how am I supposed to bath them they have a show tommorow she saw the yard, new it was a wet yuck day, but wanted them to have a run, we got her some buckets of water and went out of the way to get her some towels aswell to clean them up as best she could, but she was quite rude!
  11. some kennels offer a daily brush at an extra cost, espeically for the breeds that are more prone to matting, you cant expect a long coat dog to be given more attention than a short coated dog for the same price imo, if your dog needs daly brushing or grooming unfortunatly in some establishments you will have to pay extra for it
  12. I worked at a basic boarding kennel, I have seen other boarding kennels that are far more luxiourious, a real doggy heaven, obviously they charge more, but I would prefer my dog stay there where I worked A stay of 4 paid days or more, depending on coat condition when dog came in would include a free hydrobath prior to going home, we would not bath dogs that were dropping coat or matted, we would offer a grooming session at extra charge
  13. 7 days is fair, I used to work at a boarding kennel and that was there policy too, if you picked up between 10am-10.30am you were not charged for that day, any time after you were charged for that day. $175 for 7 days, hmmmmmmmmmm I would be expecting more for that length of stay
  14. Different dogs grow at different rates, as long as he is fit and healthy and happy thats the main thing Vets these days see a lot of overweight and oversized GSD's so when they see one that is within correct size for the breed standard they say they are small... ;) Your boy looks lovely as does your girl he looks to be in lovely condition coat wise and very healthy, also has a nice masculine head, he will develop at his own rate ;)
  15. WOOOOOO HOOOOO Best of luck Benshive with your litters and with your working group training
  16. I own 4 German Shepherd Dogs, I have had people do wide berths of my dogs before, yank there kids out of the way, I dont blame them really, I blame the irresponsible owners who have in some way given them a bad name All I can do is show that my dogs are well behaved and friendly and most of all under control, I dont think everyone needs to come and give my dog a pat or cuddle Some people are also not dog people, or dont like that particular breed of dog, everyone has their own opinion, but I dont let them influence mine, I love my dogs and I love the breed and thats the most important thing if people want to have a pat or stop and chat, I am more than happy too, but if people want to do a wide berth cross the street and stay away, then I respect that too As long as it doesnt accompany snide comments or foul looks of course
  17. No words can ease the heart breaking pain :D What a lovely tribute to both your beautiful boys Please know we are all thinking of you and with you during this very terrible time ;) Cujo was a beautiful boy, he knew you loved him and he will remain with you forever RIP Big Boy and may you look after the gorgeous baby Memphis Taken far too soon
  18. If it isnt too deep and she isnt in any pain and you have cleaned it, generally it should heal itself, get some paw paw ointment and put that on, its great for cuts and abrasions and it doesnt matter if the dog licks it :D

    Runny Poo

My GSD pup got a bit of diarrhoea after worming, I personally find giving them som slippery elm and perhaps some elctrolytes cute it rather quick Slippery elm you can get from the Super Market
  20. If he is constipated you can either give him some sardines in a bit of vegetable oil or could try some Slippery Elm powder which you can get from the supermarket Although consult your breeder before using with a puppy I have slippery elm powder on hand at my house as its good if they get a case of diarrhoea or contipation
  21. PL - You did a wonderfully kind thing, you saved this dog by either being badly injured in a road accident or being found and kept in the wrong hands I hope he passes his tests and that he can be rehomed in a loving home. Who knows maybe he broke free from a not so nice home and the outcome will be a good one :p Chin up hun, you have done all you can, regardless you gave this boy a few hours of love and compassion that he may never have had before and I am sure he appreciates it and loves you for it Keep us informed, my thoughts are with this boy
  22. Whats her mobility like given the injury, is she able to navigate short distances on her own? The reason I ask is that you could attach a small pen around her crate, leave her crate door open and line it with newspaper so she can go to the toilet on that if she needs too.
  23. What about Primal Fear I watched it last night Prime Ellegance Prime Bella Mia aka "Beautiful Girl" Prime Sophistication Prime Element Prime Devine Prime Love aka "First Love" Prime Lace Prime Success
