  1. It's personal choice I think, but since she is junior I would leave her in junior she has plenty of time to compete in the open classes
  2. I don't think vet bills would come into it, as most monies in a relationship is share monies, so I would think unfair to use that against him when he has probably paid for other things :p I think your putting your own emotions on to your dogs, I think you should just take your girl and he should keep "his" boy dogs will adjust
  3. Also to add My brothers 4 month old male GSD pup was rushed and grabbed around the neck, thrashed around and pinned to the ground by a staffy whilst walking in the street. my brothers dog recovered well.. When we felt it was time, I had my brother come down to the obedience club and just "hang out" with his dog, not force him to introduce himself to other dogs, just feel comfortable around them, as time went on we increased the distance and built his confidence main thing we did was we treated it like normal and let him gain confidence in his own time.. My brothers GSD is now 3 years old and is an absolute pleasure to have around other dogs, not a mean bone in his body and happy to play with any dog that will be his friend, regardless of the breed, even staffies.. I taught my brother not to respond to any shy behaviour or force him into an uncomfortable situation and to let him adjust in his own time, and to also make sure the other owners were aware, he came forward in leaps and bounds ;) Your dog will probably adjust quite well as long as you dont make it a big issue
  4. Jacqui - What type of dog do you own? I wouldnt be worried, treat every new dog as a NEW dog, put away pre-conceived ideas and assess the dog, not the breed Your dog will probably be fine as will they and they wont even both each other near the fence and will be happy and behaved canine neighbours
  5. I have heard stories of a breeder who took a bitch to a 3 day show in the dog trailer and in the heat and the bitches was heavily pregnant.....discusting is all I can say surely you could either no go or leave the dog comfortable at home with someone watching her? Personally if I had a bitch close to whelping I would rather be home keeping an eye on her...there are always other shows, wouldn't put my dogs at risk, At the end of the day dogs can't talk, a sick dog will wag it's tail, will walk in pain just to be with it's owner, most dogs don't complain, it's up to *responsible* adults to make the best decision for the dog and to me going to a dog show wouldn't be on my priority list ;)
  6. Gee some of you have branded this person as some sort of sadistic guy.... I think too many people put human emotions on dogs, any dog with time and care can adjust to a new situation Isn't it fair to assume that he loves the dogs just as much as the OP ? and it would be as upsetting for him to part with him? I sympathise with your situation and hope you find a happy outcome for all parties
  7. Is that your Griffon baby BBJ? I didnt think she was that old? Well done if it was
  8. Send then you tube footage and photos of people who have been attacked by dogs, results of dog fights....
  9. Thanks poocow we were all thrilled with the result It's just a shame we were not given an opportunity in the Group ;)
  10. Yep working dog group did not wait for GSD's, disappointing really considering we pay an entry the same as everyone else :D I am sure it would be a different story from the show if they waited and the GSD's didn't show up..... GSD Best of Breed - Ch Freevale Crazy In Pink Runner Up Best of Breed - Ch Lashadas Ace of Hearts I for one would have liked to have presented my bitch for BIG..... ;)
  11. Helen, wasnt the weather awful I was well and truly soaked! few spills and falls were taken on the corners... The rain just didnt let up at all
  12. I watched the General Specials at the WDCV, I must say I thought the judge was quite rude : I didn't exhibit but went to watch the winning shepherds from the specialty go through...the judge was apparently scared of German Shepherds and didn't even go over the dogs at all, sent them out on an up and back and on more than one occassion as the dog was going away from her at the start of it's up and back, she didn't watch and was looking down the line at the other dogs....one shepherd came back after it's exercise and the handler stopped to free stand the dog and the judge walked off before the dog even stopped! Quite disappointing IMO, there is such a thing as common courtesy
  13. If you like a certain type of dog or breeder perhaps go on a waiting list for a puppy, I certainly wouldn't settle for anything just because it I want one at a certain time :D
  14. I don't see an issue with dogs travelling in utes as long as they are appropriately tethered my dogs regularly went in the back of the ute everywhere we went, they were secure and they loved it and would eagerly run and jump in the ute in anticipation of going somewhere
  15. Well then you could run backwards me think someone else handling your dog would have a better outcome
  16. Why not just run around the ring anti clockwise instead? That way the dog is on the right hand side and you are not between the dog and judge
  17. RIP Dear sweet girl run pain free at the bridge you gave her the ultimate happiness, the joy of love and having her own family even if for a short while, my heart goes out to you and your family :dancingelephant:
  18. What I find frustrating is people ask questions (fair enough if its a genuine interest), so GSD Enthusiasts, breeders, showies etc come and explain the reasoning, the breed standard etc and people still argue, carry on and dont accept whats being told to them......complete waste of time in my opinion
  19. Well done Ange and Thor and MIchelle and Scott !!' Well done K & G with the beautiful Fin, well done
  20. Well done with Fletcher!!! ;) this boy of yours is sure proving to be quite the competitor!!!! Go Fletcher, what a beautiful boy!!!!!
  21. A roach back is not a desired trait in a GSD, SL breeders do not breed for roach backs...
