  1. GSD's are definatley are very vocal, chatty breed
  2. Not if the issue is possums! I Didnt see that the OP said there were possums? as she said the dogs was barking during the day? Possums are a different story
  3. I disagree with having a dog inside at night, the real problem of why the dog is barking needs to be addressed, otherwise the dog will continue to bark during the day while you are gone. Its called the "flood and droubt" effect. You get home from work, you let your dog in and the dog is in with you all night until the morning when you put the dog out in the yard and off you go to work for the day, most dogs can deal with this, but some dogs cant and really do feel the effect of "being alone".... maybe look at restricting your dogs access to parts of the yard at night, get the dog into a routine...when its time for bed, you give it a tasty treat like a pigs ear or brisket bone in a dog run and go to bed, the dog will then get used to you going to bed is not a bad thing, but the dog gets a nice treat out of it and feels secure in its own little area. A lot of people are in denial that its their dogs barking, as they take it as a personal attack on themselves, I for one would appreciate a neighbour bringing this to my attention I second thanking the neighbours for bringing it to your attention, most people just want to know they are being listened to and if you thank them, they will be more inclined to speak with you about it in the future, rather than involving the council, or taking matters into their own hands ....work with your neighbours ;)
  4. I wish I could drive all my dog crates and gazebo and stuff of aswell, but can you imagine the grounds if that happened I suppose if they allow one person they would need to allow others to aswell. As far as I know the only cars allowed to travel on the grounds is the member to pick up the tables and gazebos from the rings... If I were going to the show I would be more than happy to lug your stuff for you, so I am sure there will be other DOLers and showies that will give you a helping hand ;) you have food after all
  5. Group 5 BIG - Puli (also RUBIS) RUBIG - Sheltie - Hero Baby - GSD - Schaferhund Questa Minor - Puppy - Puli? Junior - Intermediate - GSD Bronacre Knight Moves Open - As for BIG Sorry I forget the others
  6. Exhibitors did Teeth I don't mid judges not touching dogs unless to Check something like if the dog is deep or if it is just coat...we do specialty and judges don't touch the dogs :D
  7. Sorry DP, wasnt having a go at you or anything was just saying, it was so sad, it needs a warning that tears will flow and be warned if your at work
  8. Without speaking with him it appeared he was trying to demonstrate/show to her how he expected her to show her dog, ie Specialist? That may be but that dog is shown in the specialty ring and the owner/handler knows how to show specialty He just loves his mum lots...
  9. He didnt do much touching of the dogs in Group 5 either, wouldnt do teeth etc... I dont know what the refusals were for, I think he explained it to the handler of the kelpie at the end of the group.... Ruralpug - Yeah when he was in his class, only for a short period, maybe a few steps, but yes, took the dog and made the owner walk out in front of the dog?? Now technically she couldnt show any more that day as the judge has handled her dog  Sorry TS was funny!.......and confusing
  10. Mr J Singh (India) also non awarded challenges to kelpie and both lappies, dont see that very often... Have to say the funniest part of the day was the judge taking my friends GSD off her and made her walk in front and he walked behind with the dog ........
  11. I too heard today that they are cutting down the shows they are doing, but not selling
  12. this should come with a warning I am at work Such a sad but such a very true story...
  13. Yeah I was actually looking at the Skillion Carports, there are some places that build them to size and they seem ok :D just after some advice on what works best.. Although it may be easy to do it myself, I would rather pay someone to do it for me, as it will take me a while to do it
  14. So sorry for you loss :D May she rest in peace and run free at the bridge
  15. Do you know what the costs of Spanline (sp?) is? I would be interested if it is going to be cooler for the dogs, as I agree colourbond would heat up...not fussed about cost, because I want to do it properly :D Those runs are awesome life could be a dream!!!
  16. The problem with that is that I already have the dog runs, I don't need them, just someone to build the roof, back and sides for weather protection .... I already contacted the guy in Lancefield and he does do this, but he has a waiting list at the moment of 3.5 months Your new runs look awesome
  17. Also forgot to add, that I am also wanting to do a back wall and half side wall to both sides of the runs for weather protection wanting to do this in colourbond also
  18. Hi guys Hoping I can get some help, I am in the process over the next couple of weeks of concreting my dog runs... I also want to get permenant and good quality colourbond roofing built for the dog runs and am not sure where to start or who I could contact to built me these roof... Before any reccomendations are made, I am not going to do it myself! lol....I would rather pay someone professional to do it I am looking at colourbond fencing covering 3 quarters of the dog pens, that are obviously slanted for water run off.. Any reccomendations of companies that can do this in Victoria would be much appreciated and any photos of work you have had done by them would be fantastic
  19. I thought they recently changed age of puppies to, from 8 weeks to 12 weeks to be able to travel? I read it a month or so ago when I flew last with AAE
  20. Good combo Female GSD and male GSP Always good for dogs to have some company and a mate to run on 45 acres with
  21. How could you resist this face Perception by some about the breed can be a good thing for people whom dont know your dog prowlers and burgulurs etc Sounds like you would have a great set up for any breed Good fencing, security and training would prevent any herding of roos by a GSD Goodluck deciding, 45 acres, hmmmm why not get a GSP and a GSD
  22. I use jet pet crates, so does that mean all there crates must have handles now?
