Sup Ch. Is an abreviated like any title, same as Ch, Gr Ch. Or any titles on the end of a dogs name like AD, JD, JDX... I don't see how the abrieviation makes the title any less valuable ?? I would be extremely proud of a Sup Ch in front of my dogs name :-)

Agree with you there Liz..

No I wasn't, a breed being wiped out, I meant by phasing out the breed (impossible I know) I didn't mean taking people dogs now and destroying them... I love how posts get twisted So my dogs don't have a right to live in your eyes because some other idiots can't look after their animals properly? What a silly comment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Of course she's going to take it personally, you're saying her dogs should be wiped out???

I am sorry that you think my post is silly how dare I have an opinion or differing thoughts The problems when you get a debate/discussion happening like this is people like yourself take posts personally and therefore your resulting comments are just insults, for instance saying my comment is "silly" Unfairly and Unfortunately the Government is under constant pressure to "implement change and get results" and the people making the decisions are uneducated and unknowledgable...they don't care about the good examples of the breed in caring and responsible homes So my dogs don't have a right to live in your eyes because some other idiots can't look after their animals properly? What a silly comment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If only the government would support registered breeders and implement a law against unregistered and back yard breeding....in a perfect world hey Pockets, you are entitled to your views in regards to the breed but if you read the paper I have linked above you will find that all attempts to ever wipe them out have resulted in no improvements in dog attacks - in Australia or the whole world. Areas that have used legislative framework such as proposed in the paper have seen a marked decrease in incidents like this one without focusing on breed. We are all entitled to our opinions and we all have breeds that we like and don't like, and the most important thing is we all despair when we hear about these incidents happening. Our hearts break for all the victims, human and canine. Because our hearts break and we want to see this end, we need to look to what is PROVEN to work, not continue to push what is PROVEN ineffective. If we want to see these sorts of attacks on the decrease we need to all support documents such as this paper and bring it to the attention of the policy makers in our areas. Incidents like this should NEVER happen, and it is sickening that our policy makers ignore proven solutions and pursue 'popular' legislation that doesn't work. They'll never wipe them out mate, regardless if what you say is 100% true. It just doesn't work. So lets push the real solutions and move towards a day where these sorts of incidents are few and far between.

There will never be a solution no matter which way the cookie crumbles

No I personally don't like the Pit Bull Breed or any cross bull breed for that matter, however I don't like many breeds and that's solely because they would not be suitable for me to own for various reasons. Nothing to do with events such as these :) This even comes after a bull breed x attacked my brothers GSD pup, ripping him in the throat and pinning him to the ground screaming... Or the Bull Breed crosses that pulled my in laws boxer through the fence and tore his face and leg to shreds causing him to almost bleed to death, and ending up with an amputating to his front leg Or the other time a work collegues Bull Breed attacked and mauled its own mate, resulting in a leg amputation and intensive care... So as much as you want to throw statistics around about reported dog attacks and death...neither of the above incidences were reported in the media, so statistics ad far as that's concerned mean nothing as there would be many many attacks that go unreported by the media .... Again, i am not anti any breed..... :)

Everytime I read a heading in here about a dog attack, I always find it disappointing and find myself shaking my head at so many ludicrous comments What a tragic series of events two very innocent dogs pay the price for HUMAN stupidity !!!! Pit Bulls and Bull x breeds need to be wiped out, sorry to say I used to argue till I was blue in the face with people about "blame the deed not the breed" but there comes a time when you throw your hands up in the air and admit defeat I 100% agree that these breeds can be loyal and loving companions in the right responsible home, but in the wrong hands, a very head strong and high drive breed can be devastating .....society today is just not equipped nor educated enough to deal with these breeds anymore the irresponsible unfortunately outweigh the responsible ... RIP Sweet Maggie, a sad end to your truly amazing and selfless life Fingers crossed for Bosley xxxxxxxxxxxx

I am not sure of the name of the Bitch who got Intermediate in Group, it was the BOB winner, she was a lovely girl... So Challenge Bitch - Not sure of name Reserve Bitch - Ch Freevale Crazy in Pink Dog Challenge was Maree's Trapper, who also titled with the Challenge at his last show in Puppy Reserve Challenge was - Ch Takimbre Noble Warrior

It may be she is going through whats called a "Fear Period" you can google some information on this. Usually the best method is too ignore the behaviour and not force the dog to do anything

She will be in Minor bitch on the Sunday

you just have to be careful if its dry that you have not pulled any skin away with the dry faeces and created little tiny sores, which can then get infected by the constant run of faeces over the exposed area :) if all is good with the puppy thats great, if you do notice little spot of sore area, you need to get the puppy some antibiotics from the vet and dose everyday and also warm wash the area and apply some liquid betadine aswell :) When do we get to see photos of the babies
-
I think a lot more goes into prepping Poms for the show ring, lots of poofing, teasing, hairspray and trimming...goodluck with your new baby :-)
-
Hopefully people are responsible and don't take an infected dog to a ground that has had KC in the last few weeks...and for that matter stays away from the show themselves :) Especially before the big Spring Fair shows which many Victorians will he headed too :-) Does anyone know if Group 5 is at the bottom like normal or are we up with everyone else?

Firsty I would worry about them sleeping in the same crate, the door is open and there is another bed in the laundry, if either dog gets hot or bothered they can move. Dogs predominently pack animals will sleep together...mine will often cram onto the same trampoline bed to cuddle with each other :) is it possible you can just get a bigger crate to replace the one you have in there? In relation to dominance, I dont see any issues with what Pudding is doing, she is asserting herself by what you are saying especially by placing her head over the shoulders of the younnger dog. I wouldnt neccessarily stop this behaviour, however if you said "thats enough" Pudding should then step back, you are ultimately at the top of the pack, so Pudding should respect your authority :)Dogs tend to work out their pack order pretty quickly, unfortunately they can not talk to tell the new kid the rules, so they use the type of body language you describe, the only time this becomes and issues is if the other dog is not accepting this pack order, but it seems Parker is well and truly happy with the way things are :) With playing, allow them to play, romp and run, but always make sure you can stop them aswell, again a clap of the hands and the word "enough" or "settle". I think its important as owners to be able to control dogs in play and for the dogs to respect when they need to be quiet and settled. Training, I think you should be taking both dogs to training, it cant hurt and can only benefit you and the dogs :) making the experience positive and spending time bonding with you both. just make sure you change it up, so dont always just train the same dog each, swap so that you each train both dogs :) and make sure both your trainings are consistent :)

I remember I was about 17 walking my dog at night alone, he is a Kelpie x. He was happily walking along next to me. Slowly his hackles started to raise and his body became very stiff and he walked closer to me, to the point of pushing me further towards the road. There was a big row of tree's along the footpath where we walked, he began to growl very loudly and by this stage his hackles were up from neck to tail....we walked a few meters and behind a bush there was an older man, hiding.... I have never been so so scared, not saying my dog saved my life, I was not to know what this man was doing hiding in the bushes at that time of night....whatever the reason my dog sensed him from a good 20 meters back as we were approaching and went into protection mode :) a very loyal boy he is :)

Oh I agree whole heartedly if someone was to trespass into my property to commit a crime and got bit, then good on the dogs :) Unfortunately in this case it has a sad ending, death of a dog and a seriously injured child However both parties have realized fault in some way, the owners having their dog put to sleep and the parents of the child not perusing charges, obviously realizing that some fault of the incident lies with their child, which inadvertently lies with them as the parents ...
-
Aussie, I didnt say either was acceptable, I was merely stating that in the eyes of the law you may find that the behavior would go unpunished due to the circumstances....I didn't say the dog should know the difference, please do not twist my posts to suggest otherwise.. I tried to edit my first post so remove the term "everyone"
-
A lot of people are assuming the child is teasing the dog, barking at the dog, trying to come up with an excuse for the dogs Behaviour....if the owners did not believe their dog was at fault, do you think they would have easily put the dog to sleep? IMO there is no grey area here, the child got up on the fence, the dog bit the child with some force causing serious injury. At least the owners this time are responsible. Whether your dog is in your secure yard or lose on the street, the dog shouldn't bite someone (in the eyes of the law) maybe if it was an intruder this would be the grey area...

The dog owners did the responsible thing in this situation, a sad situation, but for a dog to do that damage is serious. I love how people always blame the kids, it's never the dog...it would be lovely to live in a black and white world, however we don't, there are always "Shades of Grey"
