  1. Our puppy preschool was held at the vets so it was pretty sterile to allow pups that hadn't been vaccinated to go... best to ring and check though!
  2. newnewf Bakari burps louder than I do... And Meisha's farts are worse than OH's Charming family we are
  3. Bakari was one yesterday and here he is with his meatloaf after the sparkler was finished - wouldn't come close enough to get a photo while the sparkler was on there I just had 1kg mince and grated carrot and pumpkin into it with an egg...
  4. The only place that I know that is selling it in Brissie is Canine Country at Logan Central... www.caninecountry.com.au
  5. I was thinking about making a meatloaf for Bakari who's 1 on the 30th June... Iced with Cream cheese I'm sure they'll love it
  6. I buy rawhide & stuff from this guy.... Pretty cheap considering what you pay for them in the Pet shops and they last my guys a few hours! http://stores.ebay.com.au/Devos-Pet-Produc...9QQftidZ2QQtZkm
  7. Sounds good - plus if Erny comes up she gets Ridgy cuddles
  8. Oh Oh Oh a Brissy one is on the cards! Wooohooooo I will so be there! Rave reviews - sounds like it's well & truly worth it!
  9. After reading a few posts on people letting their dogs get in other dogs faces, how do you get dogs to settle enough that they don't just run into play with other dogs? I don't take Bakari to dog parks or anything unless it's just him and Meisha in there, because he is very full on/excitable. I would never let him off lead with other dogs that I don't know around because I don't want to be one of those people. He does try to play with smaller dogs but he doesn't seem to realise his size/strength so when he tries to play I feel it's a bit too rough. We don't know many smaller dogs so the main dogs that he socialises with are husky/staffy x, mastiff/staffy x & 2 border collies. At obedience classes I have to go early to run him around let him have a sniff and get used to all of the other dogs being around because he just doesn't focus when we first get there - he's just too hyper. We have 2 staffies in our class and when they do the normal staffy cry he play bows and jumps and all focus goes out the window - he wants to play.... Same thing at shows. Any hints/tips would be appreciated! Bakari is a 10 month old Ridgeback (about 70cm at the shoulder and 45kg) but still very much acts a puppy.
  10. Our vet said not to leave the collar on when he's home alone because apparently they can't drink properly with it on - Bakari couldn't when we were trying to get him to stop pulling the bandages off his tail. He went to work with Russ but ended up having to be taken to mum & dad's when the sedative wore off because he was bailing people up in the shop
  11. Bakari's favorites ever since he was a little puppy is his Kong (more to play fetch with than anything else) and any kind of rope toy. OH tied a rope to one of the patio posts and Bakari plays tug with that when we aren't home We got him a large teething kong and he's 10 months old and hasn't killed it yet!
  12. Bakari's is sometimes going so fast it scares me - but it isn't a regular like a human heart beat when it's going a normal pace either... Had to check on our other dog when we got her to check that something wasn't wrong with him!
  13. Bakari turns 1 on the 30th June Two at 8 weeks and now at 10 months - the lap that he's sleeping in is the lap that he's standing in front of My baby is all growed up - he even cocked his leg for the first time last week.
  14. Thanks MM... He was eyeing of the Daxxy in front in the first stacked pic  It didn't seem that long ago that he could fit in my lap on the lounge - now I'm squished and he takes up the rest of it
  15. Is it the exact same food? - I noticed a colour change but then I realised OH hadn't bought the Holistic - just the plain premium. The Holistic large breed puppy is dark brown.
  16. pic from the show last weekend... 10 months old
  17. Oh Oh Oh does that mean a ridgeback actually can be obedient?!?!?! I must've got a dud! C'mon Rom what's the goss!
  18. Just over 8 months. We were looking after his mum (Meisha) while the breeder moved house, she had tried to rehome her but Meisha stressed too much... We fell in love and she's now staying with us. She's 6 years old this year.
  19. I know you have your answer StaceyB but if anyone searches in the future: My girl came up in hive like lumps after playing in the weeds behind the shed and I only had claryntyne at home, rang the vet and he told me to give her (40kg) 2 claryntyne tablets and to watch her breathing - if it gets laboured take them in for a steriod shot.
  20. Mrs D which dog do you take? so I can keep an eye out for you? OH decided he would come too so we can take both of the dogs.
