  1. I think my girl is a GSD x Poodle. She has the worst coat which gets these tiny little tangles right on the skin. I keep her clipped for this reason. My Mildred has to be the oddest looking dog in general that I have ever seen. We are constantly being stopped on the street too. Here is Mildred in full coat and clipped. For anyone that remembers she is one of the "Renbury Bears", I adopted her from Cordi.
  2. I think if in doubt make the complaint. I would much rather someone make an unjustified complaint about my pets if there are any concerns. If you are doing the right thing you have nothing at all to worry about. I wouldnt make a complaint unless I felt certain that things werent right, which is what Adnill did. Hopefully things will improve for this dog but i doubt they will start walking him. I never understand why some people would bother getting a pet if they are obviously not at all interested in caring for it.
  3. You dont necesarrily need a specialist to correct Cherry Eye. The vet at Concord West veterinery clinic does this surgery. I had a Chi x who was rescued from the pound, she had severe Cherry eye in both eyes which were corrected with surgery at Concord and she looks brilliant now. I wouldnt euthanise a dog just because of Cherry eye..
  4. I had a laugh over one of the US comments that said " I leave my dogs in there pen outside only for as long as it takes me to use the toilet"!!!!! hahahahah you really have to laugh. My dogs have always spent the time we are at work in our back yard. Its nothing at all like "leaving a 4 year old human unsupervised".... so long as your yard is safe for your pup there is no reason why she wont be ok. I find as they get older they dont want to go outside when its time to go to work. My old Golden Retriever refused to go out on cold mornings so he was allowed to stay in and the same in the middle of summer I would keep him in with the a/c running for him. I now have an ageing malt x and she wont go outside if its too warm/cold/wet. I let them choose but on the whole I think its better for themt o be outside in the fresh air, chasing flies and each other.
  5. Yep i agree with tdeirikx. 4 may be too many for you to take on at one time. Try to get Dally Rescue or any other rescue to take at least 2 of them and you take the others. That would give them the best hope of rehabilitating.
  6. It sounds like you need a trainer who can assist you with becoming a pack leader, not just you but your kids also. I think you wil need a specific trainer for this not just a basic obedience trainer.
  7. Yes I remember your previous thread too.... Are you still feeding her supermarket food? What changes have you made since your last thread?
  8. I remember back when Yellow Labs were the flavour of the month.. I wonder when the blacks will get a turn.
  9. what were they expecting? I have never had a new pup go straight to sleep and be calm and quiet on its first night in a new home.
  10. No i dont think its good that shes offering behaviours, she is simply doing what in the past has scored her a treat. As far as i know you have to ignore all the tricks she does that arent on command. Do you have any photos of her on DOL? I love piggies and would love to see her. We are buying an acreage in the enar future and one of the first things i am getting is a piggie (or 2) SOrry i'm no help re her tricks
  11. Do you use the capsules? Thats a great idea, i will give that a go too.
  12. We all know that some dogs can live forever on cheap supermarket food but without a doubt all animals will do so much better on a good quality food. Its the same for humans, you could live a long life eating nothing but junk but you will live a much HEALTHIER life eating a good quality well balanced diet. I would assume that if someone is a serious breeder they would feed the best, whether it be a BARF diet or a superior quality pet food. IMO it is all part of breeding the best quality pups you possibly can. I dont feel that you can breed superior pups feeding the bitch on poor quality food. If a breeder told me they were feeding their dogs supermarket food I wouldnt be interested in their pups but that is just my opinion.
  13. I agree with everythign Nekhbet just said. I am not a breeder and never will be but i foster Dogs and Cats regularly. The difference that i have seen in a whelping Bitch or a Queening Cat after being put on a good quality food is amazing. I agree that if you cant afford to feed your animal the absolute best then you shouldnt consider breeding with them. I feed all my animals including fosters Royal Canin Dry mixed with fresh human grade meat and bones.
  14. Im sorry that your getting negative feedback but I imagine its because so many of us have experienced back yard breeders who dont give two hoots about the dogs or the beterment of the breed, its all about money. If i had a dollar for everytime someone told me they wanted to breed....(i wouldnt be sitting at work at the moment. lol) I personally am not a breeder and never will be, I work in rescue. Good on you for doing everything the right way, I hope you get all the info you need.
  15. I feed my Lab 1 cup of Royal Canin Labrador retirever and about 4 chicken necks per day. Since having her on this brand of dry food there has been a huge change in her condition. Her coat is lovely and shiny and she has a nice waist. Im noticing though as she gets older it is getting harder to keep her weight down. Dianne are planning on becoming a registered breeder?
