  1. So hard with all the choice out there! I’m using Blackmores Paw Digesticare (???) at the moment. I think I will find a couple I like and rotate them. Again from Vet n Pet. On the advice of a top US performance vet I am now adding a probiotic plus EFAs plus 4-cyte (joint care) to every meal.
  2. Yep. Definitely wouldn’t go anywhere else. Best agility foundations and skills you could hope for. Croydon don’t really do much agility anymore.
  3. Vet-n-pet-direct They have other decent brand options too.
  4. I live in the Dandenong Ranges and travel to Awesome Paws for agility. Further than you are after but so worth it. I’m running 3 dogs here tonight! Obedience - Croydon is a possibility but I haven’t trained their for ages.
  5. Holy crap! I’m an animal welfare/behaviour scientist in a lucrative start up tech company. What I wouldn’t give to earn that!!!
  6. Excessive water drinking is litres and litres usually by human athletes OR an animal that actually has an underlying disease or a psychological issue. Dry food plus water is not excessive. Oh and I read the peer reviewed research because I’m a scientist.
  7. I remember when CM came to Australia, the posters depicted him walking with a bunch of dogs. Everyone was raving about how wonderful he was and all I could see was the fear in the dogs’ expressions - eyes, ears, head position. Makes me feel ill.
  8. Sorry but drinking extra water is not bad for kidneys. Diluted urine can actually prevent issues like kidney stones and UTIs. I feed Artemis dry - floated not soaked in water - plus yoghurt or sardines or raw egg. 2-3 nights a week I substitute with RMBs....chicken frames, lamb necks or turkey wings. Anything non weight bearing. Sometimes fed frozen or half frozen. Treats include cheese, 4 Legs et al. , diced hearts, minced frames, beef mince and various quality dried products. I’m a little more limited because my Dally needs a low purine diet. The Spaniels eat anything.
  9. I suggest you contact a transport company such as Jetpets. They will give you a good idea.
  10. I’ll be home and playing training games None of mine are scared but we live in a quiet place so they like to bark at the noisy “intruders”. Need to channel that over arousal into something constructive!
  11. You really need a hands on trainer. Positive reinforcement based. Yes there’s buckets of things you can do but this is way too much for an online instruction. Where are you located?
  12. Please give dog specific probiotics as the bacteria are specific to dog gut not human gut! I am changing my supplement regime and will be adding this daily for all my dogs based on Dr Chris Zink’s advice.
  13. Nope. Not something that is available. All the policies exclude it hence why I don’t bother with insurance!
  14. Fire lighters? I would be ringing a vet. ASAP.
  15. I bought my car simply for the space and the 4WD/towing capability. ISUZU MU-X. Very happy with it but overkill if you don’t go off-road. Subaru is probably a better road option.
  16. There are absolutely ways to stop countersurfing using positive reinforcement based methods. But most people want a quick fix and training just ain’t that simple.
  17. Yep he’s a puppy. My Springers and Dally were “puppies” for a lot longer than 6 months! Em has quite a few wallets and credit cards to her name....silly Mr TSD for leaving them lying around! It’s not that hard to pick stuff up. Otherwise I use pens when we can’t supervise, crates occasionally and my favourite is the baby gates. They have saved us a lot of socks, shoes and cat toys.
  18. I’ve been reliably informed that a spray on oil for cooking works wonders!
  19. Wonderful offer RP If there is a way I can be of assistance please let me know. Agree with other posts. 3 weeks is a crazy time to separate mum and pups. Distressing for all. Please take up RP’s offer.
  20. And when you’re feeding it give a few tiny pieces of the untainted food first. Get them excited about the taste so they swallow more quickly. You don’t want your dog sniffing suspiciously.
  21. Unilaterally deaf isn’t such a big deal in terms of general training and livibility. The fact that your breeder BAER tested at all is a HUGE tick. Many don’t. Even in breeds prone to deafness. As for money I can tell you it costs just as much to raise a puppy that has a health issue than one that doesn’t. It wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me as a pet buyer but I probably wouldn’t get the pup as I do dog sports and breed. Your pup should never be bred from. But will be perfectly happy in a pet home. If you weren’t told I don’t think you’d ever know. Dogs are amazing at compensating. I think price is a discussion to be had with your breeder. However I personally do not discount puppies. They are either suitable for a home or they aren’t. If the pup requires treatment then I pay for it and have it done before it leaves.
  22. Have look on the ANKC website - it will be there
  23. When I’ve had something out of stock they send me what they have and put the rest on back order. I suspect they have huge turnover. I use them all the time.
  24. Yes I agree with @Thistle the dog too. I observed my Dally carefully. He has always been a ladies man and the male dogs generally hate him. I had looked after a few pups for friends and he adored the girls but was meh about the boys. Still exactly the same bless him.
