Freaking heck Stressy!!! Hugs for healing xxx Does he tug? I was thinking you could teach him to target the tug - give the little rascal something to think about. Both my dogs are SUPER careful about personal space but I notice that often Labs and GSPs for example are not so much. Not sure if it's a breed thing or an individual thing or a training thing to be honest.

The bitch's breeder did the exact right thing by mating carrier to clear by the way. Can you post the exact question?

Yes exactly! So remembering that one gene comes from the sire and one comes from the dam, if your dog is Xx one of the parents randomly contributed one of their alleles (X) and the other contributed the other one (x). If a trait is recessive then a dog must have two copies of the x allele if they are affected thus xx and they can ONLY pass on x. Contribution is always random like tossing a coin (although it gets more complicated when traits are sex-linked etc). Xx mates XX Possible random outcomes are X from parent 1 and X from parent 2; X from parent 1 and again X from parent 2; x from parent 1 and X from parent 2; x from parent 1 and X from parent 2. That's where the 50:50 theoretical outcome is from.

So...presuming you are talking about a simple recessive trait I'll use a generic example...if the bitch is clear she will be XX. If she was a carrier she would be Xx. The dog should also be, by definition, (clear by parentage) XX. However I would check whether his sire and dam were both XX. Some people may call carrier (non-affected) and clear the same thing but they are not. If they are both clear the next generation will all be clear (XX). If your boy is in fact a carrier (Xx) then the next generation will technically be 50:50 clear:carrier ie XX, XX, Xx, Xx. Does that help?

In mild weather I wouldn't hesitate leaving my dogs in the car in that situation. Not unless I had the key that locked the door to the bedroom...

As the title says if anyone knows Sway, I think there is an issue with her Whelping Supplies website and am wondering if she could please make contact with me. I placed an order on 14th April and am yet to receive it. I am trying to obtain an Australia Post tracking number so I can follow it up myself. However, the contact form on the website is not working, there is no response to emails and I have previously had no response to PMs. Having ordered deer antlers from them previously with no issue I am absolutely giving them the benefit of the doubt but I would like to track down my order. I also run a Puppy Games course on Tues night at Dandenong Ranges Vet Centre - 4 weeks of positive reinforcement based games to teach recalls, motivation and impulse control.

If your current dog is well-behaved and you are happy with her being on the bed then leave her be. By all means crate train her during the day when you have time. I have different rules for different dogs (because some take a mile when they are given an inch!) and none of them mind. I do the same with youngsters though - crate them next to my bed so I can hear them getting restless - it works a treat and everyone gets a good night's sleep. Puppies sleep in my house when they need to and go to bed with me when I do - every day is different!

Also you might need to really break it down...some things I do...relax in a chair with the treats behind me and out of sight. Grab a cuppa. Or a glass of wine. Relax. C&T the tiniest increments - glance, look, stare, paw the box. With Zig I sometimes pay one treat for the same behaviour and a jackpot for trying something new. Really short sessions. Get in 6 treats in rapid succession and take a break. Video!

Yes I will use a drop/sit at a distance. Invaluable if another dog looks like causing trouble. Just takes the heat out of it.
