  1. Just quickly - the powder I use is super easy - half tsp for Zig and a quarter for Em. Sprinkled on their dinner at night.
  2. What are your DOL search skills like Boronia? I posted about a powder I'm using for Zig and Em - but I can't recall which thread and I'm in my phone so all too hard after a glass of wine lol Very reasonably priced, buy on eBay and comes recommended by Greyhound and Gundog folk. Shoot me a PM if you can't find it and I'll check Mr TSD's eBay account. ETA: That would be ON my phone as opposed to IN it
  3. That's what I thought - they're all over the border...
  4. Can anyone confirm if the following is true? I can't find confirmation online... You must not breed a litter for profit Have to apply for and publish a Breeders licence number with all advertising Must not sell a dog OVER six months of age which isn’t desexed Only breed from dogs between 18 months and 6 years old Cannot breed from a bitch more than once in any 18 month period Cannot breed from a Bitch who has previously had a Caesarean, or failed to carry a previous litter to term
  5. For those of you who talk about the puppy choosing his name, do you mean that the right name will become apparent based on what he looks like and his temperament? I have 2 kids and their names were easier to choose than this puppy's name! Top 3 at this stage are Darwin, Benson and Chester. Definitely. I bred my current pup and she started with one name and ended up with another! Her Mum was "Rosie puppy" (for HER Mum) for a week
  6. Yes the ACDs can be a bit sharp! We had one that would let people into the yard but wouldn't let them out....
  7. In nutrition requirements for "growth" are equivalent to puppy requirements so I imagine the terms are being used interchangeably.
  8. Love Trevor! For some reason I can just imagine "TREVOOORRRR" Being yelled out after a naughty lab Like Neville's toad in Harry Potter
  9. It really depends on the pup - my baby is tough to put weight on so I'm sticking with the high calorie puppy food (plus raw etc) until at least the next big bag is finished. I would have a chat with the breeder of these pups. Just saw blinkblink's response - yes they can be very fussy around teething. A spoon of yoghurt or sardines with a bit of water to make it slushy often does the trick. Do they eat raw?
  10. I think they may have been the dark blue ones? Don't quote me on that. Bunnings have the Oztrail sides for $29.90 as their everyday price: http://www.bunnings.com.au/oztrail-3m-solid-wall-deluxe-gazebo-side-panel_p3191004 Need 2.4m but will have a look -
  11. I'm sure Rose will be impressed - ha! Yes, might need to get out and a have a look at a few in person. Thanks fbaudry - I have heard of the MM but not looked up close. Zig's high side bed isn't branded but I'm pretty sure it was from Petstock. It has a nibbled corner from puppy Em
  12. Hmmm....just looked at the Snooza website...the Newport looks nice! And it's modelling a Dally! http://www.snooza.com.au/indoor-beds/newport
  13. I haven't but I'm a huge fan of their indestructible D1000s. Think Zig has graduated from them at last  How do they vacuum or wash up? It's the sticky hair that drives me crazy.
  14. Funny thing is that people say "growl at the puppy like the mother does." The more my Em growls at her daughter the more fun Ginny thinks she is. When she completely ignores the crocodile hanging off her ears, Ginny loses interest. I like to actively teach pups not to bite rather than trying to manage it when I'm busy. Play with a tug toy - nice and fun and rough but freeze and take their collar the second they go for your hand (mine are super comfortable with collar grabs). When they stop biting let go of the collar and play again. Wear old clothes and garden gloves to start with if they are real biters. Teach alternative, incompatible behaviours inside - can't run amok if you're lying on your bed being fed your meal one biscuit at a time. I do play it smart with pups - outside or crated or penned if I can't focus on them properly - saves them learning inappropriate behaviours.
  15. Having seen Lappies herd, I am sure they bully the reindeer by yelling at them!! That's very funny
  16. I was swooped for the first time ever on Sunday at the oval...it took me a bit to work it out but I was throwing big white dummies for my Springers for retrieving training. When I didn't throw towards the nest he left us alone. Poor bird!
  17. That's adorable - look at all those squishy Viz babies!!! I'm not a Costco member (and wouldn't use it) so probably not the best option for me but thank you for the suggestion!
  18. Ooooh! Thanks! What colour is it Aussie? I like the plain colour ones but apparently the more luxurious ones are better.
  19. Snooza do good beds - the tough D1000 is my favourite...2 of these - one 7.5 years old and one 5 years old - not a mark on them and they've dealt with 3 puppies thus far! Just feel like spoiling Zig a bit as he is such a good lad and really likes his comfort. Definitely want something with a decent bit of padding.
  20. I will take a pic and see if I can find a brand name tomorrow of Zig's bed....yes, high sides indeed but I cannot get the hair off it even with a new vacuum. He does like it though :)
  21. Ha ha! Lovely pair CC It would be nice to catch up - will probably only be in Canberra for one night/day depending on how my travels are going but will see what we can do!
