Yes agree with Danois. Sorry but there are too many elements and it's such a critical stage to be giving advice over the internet.

I've had indoor/enclosure cats for more than 15 years. I don't like roaming cats either but it's really important to understand how difficult it is to change long time attitudes to cat ownership. Compare the focus on dog education by local councils etc with education on cats. It's YEARS behind. Think about the effort the government pours into changing attitudes about wearing seat belts, drink driving etc. That's massive attitudinal change (education) PLUS enforcement. My local council announced 24 hour cat curfew - no notice, no education and no enforcement. WTAF?

Hydralyte - Safe For Dogs?
The Spotted Devil replied to Michelleva's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Yes, love @Rappie's work x -
Oh Donna, how incredibly heart breaking. I'm so sorry for your pain and loss after all that effort. I'm just thankful your girl is ok.

I don't take deposits. At the end of the day I think the breeder-owner relationship is really important. As much as it hurts take a deep breath and move on. I waited 2 years for my Dalmatian puppy by the way. 10 years later and I'm still in touch with his breeder. They were the first people I called when he gained his Agility Champion title. So supportive.

Yes and I was there last week to exercise and train my dogs in the dam and there were 2 women fly fishing for goodness sake. I was rather...um...assertive

Muzzled Dog Could Die If Not Found Soon
The Spotted Devil replied to Tempus Fugit's topic in In The News
Never mind eating and drinking the poor thing wouldn't be able to pant. If it is taped such that it can't pant my guess is that it would have overheated and collapsed extremely rapidly -
Frequency? Random but maybe once every week to few weeks.
-
I feed them raw. Straight from the hen house. But I eat them too in chocolate mousse, tirimisu.... :)
-
I crumble kibble in the blender for my baby puppies - I just mix it into some raw meat when I'm introducing it.

I take my mum and other dogs out training - appropriate level for the Mum of course. If I don't she (and the others) get super antsy. I've got high energy dogs though and it really does make for a calmer household and better maternal behaviour if they've been allowed to blow off steam. If I let Em run in the back block she'd either scratch the daylights out of her under carriage or injure herself launching at breakneck speed - just wants to go hunting again. When she had uterine inertia all she wanted to do was go hunting.

What Is So Broken In People That Causes Us To
The Spotted Devil replied to Rebanne's topic in General Dog Discussion
When making decisions about my own animals I'm more of the opinion that it's "better a week too early than a day too late". I think it's a very complex issue. Vets will never tell you it's time. And people often look for that reassurance from someone they trust. Rescue is a whole other story. -
I have several places where I train/run my dogs depending on time of day, holidays or not, weather etc. Dogs go in the back of the car - purpose built for them - and I train/exercise them singly or as a group depending on how much control I need. The Spaniels will go hunting and swimming if you lose connection!

Your dogs shouldn't have to pay for the other owner's actions either. I would report without hesitation. They won't be PTS for being loose.

Should I Give A Probiotic . What?
The Spotted Devil replied to fiveplusone's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
There's no point giving a probiotic until he's finished his course of antibiotics. You can either use a good yoghurt or a commercial probiotic for dogs - the name escapes me right now. But it will be back! ETA: Protexin is the one I use -
Male & Female Dogs, Something I Noticed..
The Spotted Devil replied to a topic in General Dog Discussion
I have 2 entire males (one of Em's pups home for Christmas!) and 2 entire girls. I wouldn't say they are different in terms of how loving I find them - my girls are happiest when they have some sort of direct contact and they all follow me from room to room - but they are different to train...the boys tend to be dependable whereas the girls have a level of fieriness and independent thinking which I really enjoy....it's like you are connected by the most delicate of silk threads that could snap at any time. Living on the edge  Just super exciting when it all comes together! -

It will start to change to a straw coloured discharge on average about 8-10 days in - and then she is most vulnerable around the 11-16 day mark - but this is super variable. If you call the first day she bled Day 1, do you recall what days she got out? So she may be about 4 weeks pregnant OR she's having a false pregnancy. Either way your vet is the right choice. You might also consider an ultrasound. Good luck. For future reference my girls are only ever allowed outside supervised when they are in season. Otherwise inside.
-
How long since she came into season? Do you know when she first had bloody discharge and did you notice it change colour?

Amber's costume is divine!!!

Yes lots of space to run and kids/dogs to play with just equals super fit dogs! Formal training - shaping, body awareness, strengthening is particular fabulous. 5 min sessions - just 2 or 3 a day - can make the world of difference.

I wouldn't desex. I suspect humping is frustration related much of the time. I usually increase mental WORK and physical exercise depending on age.

Another issue with the flimsy tunnels is the inability to stake them down properly - and that can lead to a real sapping of confidence if it rolls. Puppies exploring isn't such a big deal but anything stronger can be. You can build great obstacles with PVC pipe from Bunnings if you want to work with structures overhead.
