  3. I only know Debbie on a professional basis - my impression is very positive.
  4. Just wanted to say again how dreadfully sorry I am RV Toby had the best possible life with you and it's never easy when you lose them at such a young age. Run free beautiful boy.
  5. Oh for sure, I understand - most times they don't read the prefix anyway - at least that's my experience of agility trials lately apart from specialties.
  6. In terms of the breeder getting recognition, it's what you make of it. Personally, I send my breeders updates, brags and photos which go on Spacebook, websites etc because I am very proud of who bred them. When I apply for a title, I add their name so they receive a breeders certificate. But if you don't make a big deal of it it won't really matter!
  7. What about those of us with older dogs? Can we watch and steal ideas :-)? They want me to run one for adult dogs too - just that this year has been a bit chaotic for me with my PhD. It's hard to find a night that suits so we might even consider a 4 week course on a Sunday. Keep an eye on the newsletter!
  8. Congratulations on your new puppy! You will be very busy this Christmas
  9. I'm pretty sure the vet clinic at Mt Dandenong runs good puppy classes: http://www.drvet.com.au/about-us/history/
  10. I'm at Croydon - they are finishing up for the year but the website should give you an idea of when they start again. I'll be running a 4 week Puppy Games class (up to 6 months old) in February at Croydon Obedience Club (provided I get back from overseas in time!!!) It's not a tricks or socialisation class - but teaching focus and self-control for the puppies and shaping/positive reinforcement techniques for the handlers. Great preparation for dog sports, in particular, but also suitable for the average pet owner as long as they don't mind putting in the effort!
  11. Funny  In Em's early training she would blind cross me for the weaves! I've been fortunate to have great foundation training for my dogs so they are now "handler sucks." The slightest hesitation or poorly timed cue on my part sends them off course. That's a lot of pressure
  12. Goodness! You poor thing!!! Go the Viking surgeon :D and rest up
  13. RV - I don't often check this thread but I'm so very, very sorry for your loss. So tragic to lose such a young dog A beautiful photo Run free Toby.
  14. Thank goodness! I thought my Dally was the only dog who loves Sorbolene  He just stands there looking sad now - I'm such a meanie!
  15. I've got a temporary resident puppy at the moment and it has been really interesting to watch him interact with my ESS bitch. He is a bold, happy go lucky little fella (aka complete PITA  ) and Em's growling and snarling has progressed from a clear "my ears are NOT a tug toy so bugger off you little sh!t!!!" to full on playing and mega zoomies. Not much about her growling and mouthing has changed and Mr TSD thought she still didn't want a bar of him. What HAS changed is the lack of tension around her face - especially around her eyes - and, of course, lots of sneezing and body shaking to take the edge off. A bit OT but I've really enjoyed trying to pick out the subtleties of play.
  16. After a big day of training...and they call this "working lines"
  17. Less of the memory, more of the search button  Thanks - that is great. Do you know what Jackson's height at the withers is by any chance? Just roughly would be fine. Definitely going to look at this as an option as I love the Vebo crate but it was never meant to be for trialling until 'someone' learnt to open the zippers on his soft crate! Good luck with the escapee!
  18. OT, jilldog, but did I see you had a lightweight trolley that fits a Dalmatian? I'm looking for a lighter crate to house Ziggy at trials and was curious about brand, size etc.
  19. Yes, ouch is right! I was holding onto his lead - he was going really well then decided to slam on the breaks to lift his leg and SMACK! I was on the ground with the bike. Not sure that a springer attachment would help? Or would it? Also, I didn't realise how bruised I was so kept riding and then came home and took Em training, not bothering with ice until Monday when I realised how sore I was!
  20. Mr TSD helped me wrangle the dogs today as Ziggy pulled me off my bike on Sunday and I landed on my knee/hand/ankle with a nasty THUD! Agility training is on the back burner for a week as hobbling is the best I can do. I've been working on various things with Em lately and continued with them today...memory marks, 2 bird etc and she seems to be getting the hang of it. Super enthusiastic and doing all the basics well so we just need to keep building. I've decided that puppy is half kangaroo and half fish! He precedes every sit with a giant, excitable leap and took off swimming for the first time today like he'd been doing it all his life. I set him up to follow Zig into the water as he just worships him and that worked really well. He also seems to have a penchant for mud :D
  21. Very happy with them as well - my Dally is on a special diet and was on a long course of ABs plus anti-inflams and painkillers and they looked after him really well. My Springer can be shy and they did a great job with her as well.
