What Are The Choices With Desexing?
Kadbury replied to Ellis's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Thanks for that, I had an 8 year old rescue with a mammary lump (Size of two grains of rice) over the following 5 years it grew slowly and I was advised by my Vet not to put her through any type of surgery....she lived a very spoilt life....and when the time came My Vet cried with me knowing what she was like when I got her and the life she had with me. I know this is OT but thanks again.....cheers -

Hi there - Morgan I was always of the opinion that the word Cancer meant Malignant - Therefore Mamory Cancer is always Malignant ....please enlighten me if I have been on the wrong road with this term.....cheers -
Hi all, I had one of my girls get an infected anal gland......got vet treatment then researched and found this site http://lowchensaustralia.com/health/analsac.htm Since then I do them myself with very little difficulty - another time to do them is when bathing as this must soften things and allow the glands to empty a lot easier......hope this infomation helps....cheers.

 I have actually seen a dog that rings a bell to be let out....can't remember where, but at the time thought it was cute. Now that persephone has reminded me I am going to try it with my girls.....they scratch at the door....poor paint.

Just wondered if u could borrow a harness rather than a collar -just to see how she goes....It might not be so scarey for her....Keep it on her for a few mins then extend the time....then try taking her round the yard with your other dog .....Just a thought......I know we would all try anything for a happy pup.....good luck

I had three Cavalier females who used to do a three tier "Piggy Back" when one was in Season and is was usually when visitors were around and I had to explain what was going on LOL...... One of my male pups who is 5 months and going to be desexed at 6 months was sent off to his new Forever home with a soft toy for comfort .....now turns it over and has his way with it....I have been sent a video of it and fell off my chair laughing at this little man as he had all the right actions going on.....I have told the owner to send it to Funny Home Videos....it is sooooo cute as the toy is a Racoon and double his size Maybe he is trying for a new DD a Raccalier

;) I have had a scare with the rawhide chews too.....My dog loved it and sat quietly chewing on it - Lucky I was there because she started choking :D but I could still see the rawhide chew with half still sticking out of her mouth = as Rainey said the saliva had softened it and it finished up about 6" long all soft and streched, when I pulled it out = my girls now only get chicken necks for chewing but they do love me brushing their teeth too...

Sounding good, training a 6 year old is sooooo hard.....so the first part of the puzzle is working out...LOL you have received some great advice here and congrats. for taking it all into account......Just another little trick with your son......wait till he is asleep....(Not in the middle of the night).....pick him up....carry him around, put him on the couch walk away - and then ask him if he liked it ????? ;) I actually think you are doing a great job seeking advice before things get a pattern going which will be harder to break. Having your son take part in training is a good idea - he will feel really special and proud when the pup sits to his command.
