I used a crate for my boy at night ... he had no problems going in as that was where he got his food (so he thought his crate was wonderful). I have a cover for the crate so he went in about 15 minutes before I went to bed and then when I headed to bed the cover was pulled over. Initally he sooked a little (when he was really young) but he quickly settled down. Even now my boys have no problems going to bed because they get a bone to take with them ... they often go to bed waiting for their bone

From what I have seen of greyhound ... absolutely!!! They make it very clear when they are unhappy with you - and it can be anything from peeing on your bed to completely ignoring you. I am thankful my boys don't seem to care too much ... as long as I bring food Slight OT - We had a cat who cried non-stop for 4 weeks while my brother was away. It just sat on his bed, didn't eat and cried and cried - absolutely pitiful. I was thankful when my brother finally got home thinking the cat would finally return to normal. Well that cat wouldn't even look at him. If my brother walked into the room the cat would walk out. She never looked at him and turned was always turning her back to him and completely ignoring him. Even when my brother tried to pick her up she would hiss and carry on and the walk off. It took another 4 weeks before she would forgive him for going away and leaving her.

Does anyone know a good place to buy bulk chicken necks or chicken wings ... either in 1kg bundles or fresh? I am looking at 50 to 100kg at a time. 50kg would be about 2 weeks supply. I have been ordering necks as 4 x 12kg boxes ($2.29 per kg) through my local IGA (they get them from Nerang Park Poultry) but I am getting fed up. They never call when the order arrives - despite giving me a discount as an apology and even telling me they will definately call me. Sometime I place the order one week and then can leave it up to 4 weeks before I finally ring them to chase up my order - and usually each time I get "they just arrive yesterday" ... which I really don't believe. I contacted Nerang Park Poulty and they won't sell directly to me - regardless of how much I order (some places have a min of 100kg). I desperately need chicken necks or wings in large regular quantities ...

Maybe try making your own chicken treats. I brought chicken fillets and then cut them into even slices and then cooked/dried in a low oven. There are also those driers used for making dried fruit etc/ I also use Delish Spear Fish - my boys love them. It is freeze dried fish slices.

Papaw Ointment is also good. I use it on my dogs when they are paw sore from running on concrete or hard surfaces.

Definately working dogs ... maybe they could have thought of a better word but seriously these are not pets they are advertising. They are advertising for the "serious" working dogs. I have no problems with the ad ...

How To Remove Dried Mud Tags

I would probably try a bowl of warm water with a washer and give him a sponge bath ... -
My Maltese Is Getting De-sexed Tomorrow :(
Tilly replied to Sasha (Alexander)'s topic in General Dog Discussion
You will probably be giving him a longer life by reducing the risk of prostate issues. My older GSD was desexed following prostate issues. The rottie before him had prostate issues which eventually resulted in his death. -
A couple of years ago we were getting our side fence replaced ... but of course we were where not sure when they were arriving to start the job. Fencing guys had been told to let us know when they were arriving so I could lock up the rottie. They happened to turn up when I had raced up to the shops for a moment ... of course no phone call. They had started to remove the fence when the neighbour stopped them and pointed to the dog kennel (kids cubby house) and told them it was too small for the dog. They promptly stopped removing the fence and called me to let me know they had arrived. The poor dog was sound asleep in the garage after a busy night at work (working security) so he really didn't care at that point who was touching his fence.

I want the bunny's without the skins - the boys love them but at $5 a bunny they are a rare treat ... they are not even a full meal for them.

My brat definately has the enthusiasm .... He is definately feeling much better today ... he had a play date this afternoon and was running and jumping around like a nutcase so I don't think he will have any problems tomorrow.

I am wondering if No. 8 has already died ... which is why it wasn't with the others. But still hoping

My brat is now Intermediate ... I am hoping he will run tomorrow but he is a bit sore at the moment - he got beaten up by our older dog. Totally un-prevoked but the poor brat ended up with a few holes in the face and some bruising to his shoulder.

Hybrid vigour of course

I never caught my boy in the act but he ripped up tonnes of irrigation system ... and then pulled all the wiring out that hooked up to the automatic watering system. Even at almost 8 years old ... he is still finding the odd bit of irrigation piping in the year and chewing on it. Hope someone can offer some suggestions as my boys found it irresistible … even with chilli, Tabasco sauce and various other sprays etc.

I had a crate secured in the back of my car for my pup's trip home. He used the crate in the car until he out grew it and is now in a harness. My pup was a stinker when I got him off the plane ... so I was thankful for the crate

Skinny robbers sneaking through cat flaps From: AAP June 01, 2010 3:46PM SKINNY young burglars are breaking into Tasmanian homes through cat and dog flaps. Glenorchy CIB inspector David Plumpton said criminals as young as 13 were getting into houses through open windows and doors and through dog and cat flaps, The Mercury reports. "There has been a run of opportunistic theft where offenders will try to get into locked houses and then move on to places with easier access," he said. "The smaller offenders are even managing to get in through cat and dog flaps. "We have charged a number of juvenile offenders in recent weeks and we reiterate calls for residents to ensure doors and windows and other access points are secured when they go out or to bed." The spate in the South follows a similar run of break-ins involving young offenders in Devonport in April. Tasmania Police said 19 homes had been burgled in the Devonport area in a four-week period and the thieves, aged between 14 and 17, were after electronic games, wallets, cash and alcohol. I do believe if you have worms in the compost ... then you need to be careful when you worm the dog otherwise it can kill off the worms.

Home Alone and Bungie Chook (Turbo Chook) are toys from the Aussie Dog toy range.
-
My youngest loves his "home alone" and "bungee chook". They also get kongs, balls and various other toys as well as a large meaty bone a couple times a week.

I tried the squirt bottle with my boy when he was getting into stuff he shouldn't or barking ... but he loves water and thinks it is an absolutely fantastic game rather then any sort of correction

I think the young girl was new and it probably wasn't something she thought about doing. She was lovely though ;) I think I will always remember the look on the poor lost doggys owner when she stepped in my front door. She was drenched (it had been raining rather heavily) and she was crying ... so she looked an absolute mess. And where was her missing dog but sitting in a crate all nice and dry in front of the nice warm fire place finishing off a chicken wing (I had given him a warm bath prior to calling the council as he was cold, wet and muddy). He couldn't see what all the fuss was about ;)
-
The last time I rang the council for a lost dog ... I had some young girl on the phone who was going to send someone to collect the dog ... but it might take a day or two. When I told her there was a council registration tag on the collar (and provided the details) .... and asked if she could look at the system and locate the owners. Naturally she said she couldn't give me the owners details due to privacy ... so I had to suggest that if I give her my details and she could ring the owners and pass my details on to them ... it would then save the council having to send someone out to collect the dog. Less then 5 minutes later I had a frantic woman on the phone ... she had been driving around for hours looking for the dog. By the time she turned up at my place she was a complete mess ... happy tears of course ;) Always good to reunite a lost doggy with a loving family ...

How To Get Rid Of A Mouse Problem With Out Affecting The Dogs
Tilly replied to BustaGirl's topic in General Dog Discussion
We had mice in the garage. I just put the normal mouse traps in places the dogs can't get them (like the cupboards, behind the couch ... or even use baby gates to section of an area of the house) and bait them with sunflower seeds that I have tied on a with a piece of fishing line. I had 6 traps set in the garage and were getting at least a mice a night ... and that was the end of the mice problem.
