  1. This is not dog related but ... I do think this new mum definately would take the award. Leaving the office yesterday at lunch time I saw a new mum proudly showing off her 3 week old bub to about 15 work colleagues. Problem was ... they were all standing over at the smokers wall ... and everyone was smoking immediately around the young bub. Came back to find mum now sitting beside the pram (still smoking) with about 6 people around her all smoking ... watched as she took a drag on the ciggie and then leaned into the pram to kiss bub!!!!
  2. Poor baby ... that must have been some bang on the head. Hope she is feeling better soon
  3. My boy had something similar on his side - vet basically said to leave it and if he was ever sedated for any reason then they would remove it then. A couple of months later he was under for a couple of stitches (cut an artery in his leg) so they remove it while he was sedated. It healed quickly and hasn't returned.
  4. I definately think it was the younger one (sable) ... because the older (black) one isn't silly enough to destroy his own bed. The older boy is used to being the troublemaker so when he gets asked "who did it" he always acts guilty ... he knows his mummy loves him and quickly turned playful once the offending mess was cleaned up ....
  5. Or the one who kept running to the puppy pen and wouldn't make eye contact ....
  6. So ... who did it? Was it the little one who didn't leave me side and when asked who made the mess ... actually layed on top of the pile I was sweeping up.
  7. I was a bit late getting home this afternoon ... and was greeted with this!!!! This is the frame of the doggy bed that was located on the other side of the tank ...
  8. I love butternut ... so that is what the boys get but any will do (Japs, Blue etc) For Probiotics - I use Inner Health Plus for me ... so I also give the boys a dose - I am sure the vet said it was ok to give this at the same time as antibiotics but maybe someone else can comment Edited: Here is a bit from the Inner Health Plus website ... While this is directed at humans ... I am sure it would also apply for dogs :D
  9. I am thankful my dogs pee on command. Made it easy when the vet wanted a sample ... I just borrowed a latex glove, the sample bottle and took him outside and told him to pee ... vet was not overly impressed he had a warm sample
  10. Glad he is feeling a bit better. Do try the pumpkin for diarrhoea as it really does work - and it is cheap My boys just love their pumpkin ...
  11. I don't think the rabbit is all that pleased about that "thing" on top of his cage ...
  12. We had our elderly rottie chemically castrated due to a prostate issue (either enlarged prostate or a tumour) - but he was not well enough to under for the operation otherwise we have had him desexed. Last time he was under it too 3 days for the drugs to come out of his system so we decided he couldn't go under again. It didn't make any difference to his dribbling but realistically we only had him another 4 weeks before he deteriorated. Talk to your vet and see if they think he is well enough to go under the - they can do some tests etc.
  13. You have to love the family that set up a picnic at the table in a fence off-leash area and then whinge because dogs are interested in the cooked chicken they are trying to eat ... and they didn't even have a dog in the park!!!!
  14. When my puppy was unwell I brought some chicken breast and cooked it with some diced pumpkin in some water and a little salt reduced chicken stock. I then mashed up the pumpkin and flaked up the chicken and served it up while it was still slightly warm. Hope he is feeling better soon...
  15. Our rottie used to sit on smaller dogs/cats etc that were annoying him ...
  16. I thought stores already had the right to eject/ban.not sell to you if they didn't want you in their store ... I got chucked out of one when I told the store owner to do something about the lack of clean water (it was green and slimy) and overcrowding in his bird cages!!!
  17. My GSD had 3 shots as a puppy (1 with breeder and 2 with me) and then C5 12 months later ... I will then look at titre testing for future vaccinations.
  18. Maybe look into something like TTouch ... I was at an intro workshop over the weekend and I saw some amazing differences in some dogs anxiety levels after just one day.
  19. As the puppies new owner you have every right to take it to the vet if you are concerned ... and you did the right thing in contacting the breeder to let them know there was a weak positive to parvo. We had a 6 month old rottie pup that was a little slow getting off his bed one Friday morning ... he seemed bright enough but just not quite himself - so we took him to the vet straight away. Nothing specific but just a feeling. By Sunday he was dead ... all because of parvo.
  20. I use a damp washer or cotton ball with ear cleaner for my boys ... but one of the instructors at puppy pre-school classes we attended (and failed ) said you could use baby wipes for a general wipeout (as long as they are not really bad)
  21. I have 2 working line GSD's. The older is a retired security dog. The youngest was brought with the view of being a security dog and was the pick of the litter from a police dog father and a security dog mother ... and then my brother decided he wanted to get out of security. They are beautiful natured dogs and I wouldn't swap them for anything (most of the time) but they are hard work. It takes a lot of work to stop them from becoming bored and destructive. They are definately not dogs you could just put in the backyard and forget about.
  22. While a lot of you are scoffing at the suggestion of any possible favourable treatment … I do think it is a valid question. I was scribing for a Judge on a local horse event and I smiled as an entrant and asked the name of the horse (as it was absolutely gorgeous) and I was quickly pulled aside by the Judge where she made it very clear that during the events we are to have absolutely no communication with the entrants (other then necessary directions) in order to avoid any "perceptions" of favouritism.
  23. I tried it this morning with a plastic disposable cup and a piece of chicken ... plastic cup got squashed (rather then pushed aside) and the chicken was inhaled ... and then plastic cup was chewed within an inch of its life!!!
  24. I love the photo of the baby with the dingos ... but I hear little voice in my head screaming "Help, a dingo stole my baby" ;)
  25. :D Not looking ... do not need another dog ... EVER ....
