What can they do about it, really? Unfortunately what the petshop is doing isn't illegal. Sure you could make complaints and sign a few petitions.. but at the end of the day, until the people at the top realize this is a major problem there is nothing to stop petshops acting in this way. Voice their opinions to the people who are linked to the 'people at the top'. There is power in numbers. If every time a DOLer made a personal comment or complaint, sent a letter to the management, made a phone call to the boss of a company or organisation...that eventual tap-tap-tapping away would make a hairline fracture, that could eventual break. Whinging, moaning and complaining here only serves to make us feel better (and I know because I've done it before here as well!) where as action gives satisfaction. Companies are simply providing for what the customer wants...how are they to know that the customer is slowly becoming more aware of issues and ethics with this sort of behaviour if no one stands up to let them know?

Anyone have any tried and tested methods for reducing the effects of scarring on dogs who have gotten into scuffles? One of my Bull Terrier girls has a maze of nicks and scratches on her face and I'm concerned due to the short amount of fur on the muzzle she will scar horribly and look like she's been through the wars. Vitamin E? Is this safe to put directly onto grazes as they heal? Or should I wait until she's healed to try and reduce the scarring afterwards? How can I improve her diet to give her the best oils and minerals to improve her hair regrowth? Fish oil capsules?

So...what did you guys do about it? Apart from venting online...?

Good luck indeed....I have had several friends WITHOUT any pets take 2-4months to find a suitable place to live...the market is very tight at the moment.

The medication and supposed 'vet' advice in this thread has frightened me! Please speak directly to your vet first hand before administering anything apart from antihistamines! Online research does not replace a trained professional!

I remember a year ago being amazed by a Swedish? Norwegian? lady who had 2 dogs which she taught only positive clicker training with..and had the fastest run in an agility trail. She also had a website where she described her methods and how she encouraged dog owners to spend time with their dogs doing all sorts of various actions and tricks so the dog learns how to move it's body...and she also went for a long hike in the forest with her dogs most days for exercise... Who knows whom I'm talking about and does anyone know the link to that vid!?
