How much approx are these NDTF courses?

Hello! I have two naughty mongrel girls (ah bless them <3 ) that I want to teach into well mannered nice ladies. Do people generally go to their breed dog clubs to learn things more advanced than sit and drop? Where do mix breed dog lovers go? I'm in Burwood in Sydney so anything close would be great!!

Unusual Way To Handle Aggressive Dogs....
Tatelina replied to Mrsdog's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
How bizarre! I don't understand why you would do that at all. But hey. Each to their own..as long as the animal isn't being mistreated. -

Quoted for emphasis. :D -
Hehe..points on practibility. If I'm only walking my two girls (cattle cross size) it's usually both on my left but if I've got other dogs at the same time it's the two stable ones on either side (well..mostly stable) and any other dogs any other way.

Good question!

Pressure Point Collar (aka Prong) Discussion Welcome
Tatelina replied to Erny's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I have it printed Cosmolo ..... to read through. Sorry - I have been sending myself crazy trying to add references, citations, hyperlinks and cross-referencing into the 20 page "main" submission. Have spent hours on it today and no where near finishing. PS - just read your submission through properly now. Very good submission - thank you ;). Are you just putting the the comments for? -
Pressure Point Collar (aka Prong) Discussion Welcome
Tatelina replied to Erny's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I am against them for so many reasons. You say some dogs are precluded from the pressure of a flat collar on their throats, and you're hoping for a lift of the ban so that atleast restricted use is allowed.... How will it be known that a dog is actually as you say 'precluded from the pressure of a flat collar' or the owner just doesn't have the patience to train without a collar in the security of their own backyard? I am definetly against them. It's an unnecessary training aid used as an easier option. Note: Term training aid used loosely. -
For Those Who Use E-collars
Tatelina replied to shekhina's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I've judged for myself. And I can see why you would need an electric collar on such an unmanagable labrador!! For goodness sake... I didn't realise these were used in Australia. What a load of bullocks. -
Cute. My girls tails are usually wagging whilst they look at me waiting for the ok command.

"Canine Allwormers" do Tapeworm as well as the rest. I buy them for about $1.50 a tablet from my supplier. Hey who's your supplier? I would love to buy my tabs for that cheap!!

How interesting.. I have never heard of or considered fasting domesticated pets as they are so far from their ancestors who would only eat on the days that they hunt or dig up what they've buried. But now that I think of it the days that they only get small amount of kibble and a bone are their 'fasting' days..but pups always get generous twice daily of wet food/barf portions. edit: fasting good for humans? Really? doesn't it make your body go into starvation mode and retain all fluids and slow your metabolism? maybe it does the same for domesticated dogs?

I feed mine twice a day...alternating between dry kibble, barf and bones. If anyone starts looking a little chubby, I increase their exercise.

Can You Train A Dog To Use A Kitter Litter Tray
Tatelina replied to brandybaby's topic in Puppy Chat
Sounds like too much of a challenge to me... I would just train them to go outside when they need to.. I find that most dogs will sit patiently by the door when they need to go when trained and wait. -
Ofcourse! That makes complete sense and alot of people don't even consider this! *light bulb*

How bizarre! Never knew how useful this stuff was! :D -
Great idea for a thread! I'm curious too and would love to hear other people's experiences with keeping sick animals away from non sick ones.

Pardon me.. I'm dumb. How did this work out?? Actually never mind... this thread isn't about your accidental litter and I'm crossing my fingers that the pups were desexed before you moved them onto their new families. But anyway...I'm agreeing with everyone who says puppy school.... Fear can turn into agression so I personally wouldn't be putting my pup in a situation where it might turn ugly. One snap from your pooch, a whinge from someone else, and no more pooch. wow i forgot i even posted this its been so long! the bitch got pregnant to the dog at my parents cos i take my 3 there everyday so they can play with my parents dogs So..... when you said "all my dogs are de-sexed..." that wasn't actually a correct statement? You don't watch your dogs when they play? You didn't see a dog mount your pet? I've just realised I've brought up a completely old topic for no reason.. I was searching puppy tips.. Never mind me.. I don't want to stir anything up.... /exits thread.

My opinion is to let them get all the nutrients from mum for as long as they can... I leave a bowl of tiny puppy kibble out 24/7 incase the pups go exploring and are interested, or just hungry when mum is out doing her own thing. What kind of wet food do people offer?
