  1. I'm pretty sure cats are the only primary host for the Toxoplasma gondii parasite. Other mammals may become infected and show no signs, including humans. Mammals that are immuno compromised are at the highest risk.
  2. Thats wonderful, its shows how valuable and worthwhile some professional help can be! You've also been a very dedicated owner and are now reaping the rewards. Fantastic!
  3. Good luck Muttly, I'm sure she will look and feel wonderful no matter what you decide.
  4. Umm I'm not exactly sure. But I took over 400 hundred photos at my sisters wedding and the low battery light never came on. That was with my Digital SLR. I don't currently have a spare, but I plan on getting one. They don't lose charge, so leaving a charged one in your camera bag for extended periods is not problem.
  5. I love my Li Ion batteries. They are more expensive to buy, but I find they last a lot longer (charge wise), they can be charged or topped up without needing to wait until they are flat, and they also charge when the camera is plugged into the USB port.
  6. Hi Casper, I'm sure Jester will be fine. Maybe he ate something that hasn't agreed with him? As long as he's drinking something and keeping it down, I think all you need to do is make sure he's nice and cool, especially since we are enjoying such great weather here at the moment.
  7. I have a Cannon ixus which is a great "point and shoot" digital camera, and it fits nicely in my handbag. I also have a Digital SLR, the Olympus E-410, which is fantastic! This site has a pretty basic explanation of the differences, it may help you decide which type of camera you need. http://www.scrapjazz.com/topics/Photograph...ography/411.php
  8. Well there has been some great advice, but I have to say I am already doing most of what has been suggested! I hope nanna can use some of the ideas posted. I think I just need to persevere. My 13 month old has improved noticeably, but its the 8 month old puppy thats the major problem for me, especially because she's bigger. Maybe she is just a bit young? Cheers everyone.
  9. Hi nanna, I can't say I have any advice, but I'm interested to hear what other people might say as this sounds like my two puppies. All I can say is that we have been persevering with dog school even though its sometimes difficult. I have to admit, after 8 weeks of classes, the eldest has certainly improved allot, though we still have a way to go. So bumping for my own interest too!
  10. I use the greek style full fat stuff too. Everyday, about a tablespoon.
  11. Glad to hear its working out for you. :D I'm just wondering how a puppy would look drinking his pee whilst peeing?
  12. It was a tip I was given. I think it helps with digestion of the protien (thats usually what is so inviting about poo) and also makes the poo less appitising. It worked for us, but may not work for everyone. You can get other additives from your vet I think, which basically make the poo taste bad. For us, it was worth a try, a cheap easy solution and it worked. ETA spelling...
  13. Hi, When our rescue pup first came to us, he also did this. I think it was a change of diet, habit from being a pound puppy and stress from moving to his new home. We did a number of things and within a few weeks the behaviour had stopped. * We called him away after he did his business and gave him a treat. * We made sure we picked up the dogs mess everyday (he seemed to prefer it fresh). * Lastly we added pineapple juice to his food. Good luck and don't worry about it too much, I know its pretty
  14. This is only from my own experience, but I think if she thinks her kennel is a safe, warm place to be, she'll use it if she needs to. She may not want to use it if your around because she'd rather be with you? Our puppy has a kennel, and I see her go in and out, but not stay in. I can only hope that if it got cold or wet she'd be smart enough to go in!
  15. I have a 9 week old too, if I was in your situation as long as my puppy was eating something, drinking, toileting okay and her normal playful self I'd tend not to worry. She may just be being a bit fussy and may have realised she doesn't have to compete for food (I'm guessing you don't have another dog?). Also she may not be fussed on the new food, but she'll eat if she's hungry. Good luck and try not to worry too much.
  16. Hi, How often is the puppy getting fed and how much? Does she get treats etc as well? Is she keeping down what she does eat? And how long has she been doing this?
  17. Hi, I've been going through the same thing with my now 9 week old. The only advice I can give is stick to a routine and don't give in! After a week of waking up two or three times a night, my puppy now toilets at about 10.30pm then sleeps till about 7am. Bliss.
  18. Is the only time your puppy goes in the car with you when he's going for a walk, or anything else he see's as being fun or rewarding? We find taking our puppy on short trips where he doesn't actually get to get out of the car helps him keep calm. We also ignore him the entire time. He doesn't see going in the car as meaning he gets a walk (=reward), so he just gets clipped in and then has a sleep. Maybe its a combination of him getting excited because he's going for a walk, being a little over stimulated by all the sights and sounds and getting your attention. Good luck.
