My Vet was telling me about a new Kennel Cough vaccine that is given like a nasal spray and only takes 1 dose and 3-4 days to take effect. the older needle vaccine involves 2 injections 4 weeks apart. does anyone know of this new vaccine? Need repeorts both good and bad before I make my mind up which path to take.

I had a young dog with this some time ago. Has your Vet suggested "pulse therapy" with metanidazole: they have the tablets for two days, then no tablets, then tablets for two days and so on. it did settle my young dog and that was one sick dog with other major health issues too. we fed her Hills presciption I/d -both dry and tinned.

we also feed Bonnie, the Complete formula- 22% protein.all natural too, as well as raw bones etc My Collies love it

Vaccination Reaction/allergy?
InspectorRex replied to Toohey's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I agree Gusgem! There are new vaccines on the market now. If you do not want to do 2 X Kennel Cough injections there is now an intra-nasal kennel cough vaccine in a spray form with far fewer problems and immunity only takes 3-4 days instead of 2wks. My pup just had her 12wkC3( protec) and when older( as per Vet) will have the intra-nasal KC vaccine -
So sorry to hear about Murphy. Our hearts go out to you and your family. Colleen and Bill and Collies

Calendula creasm works wonders on scars and it will not harm the dog if it licks it. My girl was bitten by a bee 2wks before specialty show and left scar on stop. put calendula cream on three times a day for about 10 days and no scar and hair grew back. we always keep a jar of it on hand . about $12 from health foods shop- get the cream Not the ointment

Oh Poor lablover, I think it is time the Vet's do more testing etc, eg skin scrapings and maybe the Dermatologist for a visit. A so called hot spot shwould have cleared up sooner then this.

RIP Stormy, you can now watch over your family from the Rainbow Bridge :D

Hi, I would also have handy a Rinseless Shampoo ( you spray it on, towel through the hair and then with a clean towel dry off the hair).this stuff is very handy if a Collie has an upset tummy. Need to check that her anus is not scoured ( red and angry looking ) as this might be the reason Chanel does not want you touching her there as it will be sore. Good Luck

Thanks folks, yes it is comforting that Fergie is now free but God it still hurts.

Hi, I would definitely get Chanel off the Chum and this may solve the "stuck poo" issue as well as not much nutrition for her in it. Our Collies have always been fed either Pedigree Advance Dry Food or Hill's Science Diet.Plus they get chicken necks regularly . But remember when changing over do it over a few days or you will really have gut issues then.

Beware Greenies!!! If your dog has a sensitive stomach or food allergies Greenies can do more harm than good as they are Extreemly high in protein. I know this from first hand experience. Greenies was suggested by vet as they are "all natural ". Within 12 hours dog very distressed, gut sounding like a volcano erupting and abdomen very tender. temperature raised. Beware!!!

R I P Cala ;) Our Fergie will play with you at the Bridge

Dog Incontinence Tablets
InspectorRex replied to pacegalore's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Thanks Rappie for your input. saw the Vet and have started her on 1/4 sudafed tablet twice a day to see if that works. He started her on lowest dose so that we have somewhere to go if it does not resolve. it is a messy problem too with a long coated breed. -
Bonnie is up at the Bridge watching over you. I am sure our Fergie Baby Lady will keep her company. RIP Bonnie
