Way to go Sparty

Big hugs to both you and Ollie dog I agree with you about no more chemo and about quality of life. Give him anything he wants and love him to bits as he is here for a good time.

Your dog is a Border Collie, correct? Then unless you had had it DNA tested for Ivermectin sensitivity i would Not use the injection the Vets give. The whole environment needs to be treated and if the other dogs on the property are not treated they may be carriers of the fleas your dogs keep getting. The bedding needs to be treated too. I use Frontline Plus on my Rough Collies

Yes TM the dog needs to be seen by a Veterinary Dermatologist as they are the only ones who are Qualified to perform intra-dermal skin testing and reslting treatment, be it immunotherapy( allergye vaccines that are specifically made up individually for each dog) or whatever From memory ours cost around the $450 for the testing and that was in 2004

YB Dumbbies is a bit sacred to me as Brodie was a very special Collie, even appearing on Good Morning Australia with Bert Newton and Philip Brady for the 40th Anniversary of the making of the first Lassie Movie. As I said he was my hero Collie. Why not "bellies"- gosh that will make the Judges laugh

DD, check the Hastings rules as it used to be that if you passed Encouragement externally then you had to enter your dog in the Novice Class at the Comps. they used tho have a "Novice Without Trial Experience Class" so that you were not competing with those that had actually trialled in Novice. Glad you saw Brodie's photos Nat; he excelled at Obedience, he gained his companion Dog Excellent Title in just 5 weeks with two 2nd places ( beaten on both occasions by dogs that were Obedience Champions). His Drop On Recall was awesome, never scored less than 28/30. The Judges used to laugh afterwards at my command for the Retrieves as when they gave the command "Send your Dog" I gave the command to Brodie of "Dumbbies". Well it has to be one word and Fetch to Brodie was a game we played at home. I still have his"dumbbies" . He will always be my Obedience Hero also a tip for all of you; Don't get graded up now before the Comp otherwise you will have to compete at the higher level and will have only had about 4 weeks at that level. It is giving your dog every opportuinity toexcel for you

Glad you got your dog to the Chiro :D . A bit out in the hip area is enough to make any dog/human constipated etc. Hope he has booked her in for a re-check in about 7-10 days to amke sure she is on the mend.My Vet who is a Chiro also likes to re-check dogs 7-10 days after she sees them for "being out" and I agree with her. It takes the sore parts at least 3 days to settle after a chiro workout.

It is bloody hard to do but she is now at peace we have our furkids cremated too and then at least we know they are still "with us" so to speak. God Speed beautiful one
-
let's hope Ollie keeps eating. I know when our dog was off her tucker years ago we put the food on a human dinner plate and she ate it ( she too had Cancer, lymphoid leukemia). It is worth a try. we used to warm it up in the microwave so it was warm for her. Colleen

Did you have her back checked out by a Chiro?

Sorry for your sudden loss. Your furkid is watching over you

Constant Chewing Of Paws. What Do I Do?
InspectorRex replied to Isabel964's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Westies are prone to an inherited condition called Atopic Dermatitis or Atopy. Ethical Westies breeders know all about this and are doing their best to breed it out of their lines. Your puppy needs to be referred to a Veterinary Dermatologist for intradermal skin testing . without knowing what allergens set your dog off you are only playing a guessing game.A local Vet is not qualified to do this form of testing. Both Zayda and I have had to go through this. -
Today it is 8 months since you left us for the Rainbow Bridge our beautiful "Maggie"( Australian Champion Colbeau Go Get Em Legal). We know you had to leave us as you were so ill but the heartache still remains. Our precious Miss Maggie, till we meet again Love Colleen, "Poppy" and "Phoebe puppy" XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

I would not be using a plastic bucket- stainless steel or ceramic are far safer
