  1. Praying that Kal will come good again for you. In our thoughts
  2. Fingers crossed you get some answers soon. The tummy rumbling is consistent with the Inflammatory Bowel Disease my 7.5yo Collie had last year, sounded like a volcano. At least your Vet sounds well and truly on the ball. the one we went to at the time( no longer go there) let my gir's condition go too long before finally listening to me and sending her to a Specialist( if he had listened to me earlier I think I would still have her today , the IBD was well advanced by the time saw the specialist so no meds or diet ever got it under control and we had to give her her Wings)) Please let us know how he goes
  3. I generally crush the tablets and place it in their meals.Although "Phoebe" aka Hoover on legs would eat it whole out of her dish anyway
  4. Words cannot express the sorrow I feel for you right now Trace. Stewie is now watching over you with that gorgeous big smiley face of his, he will always be YOUR champion. I have had 4 canine losses in 3yrs(one 14 yo, one 9mth old, one 7.5 yo and a Rescue, plus my Mum- Mum is buried at the Cemetery) and have had all of the dogsl cremated and they all have their "boxes" in special places in the house. When I lost Maggie aka Ch Colbeau Go Get Em Legal last July 2005 at just under 8yrs I had her photo sealed to the box. I used Pets Cremation Service down Geelong way and yes it is hard when the Vet rings to say their ashes have arrived back. Take the time to grieve Sweetie and cry all you want Hugs Colleen
  5. Glad to read that some testing has been done for your furkid. My girl that I last to inflammatory bowel disease last year was one of the few % of dogs that couldnot tolerate the Z/d due to the chicken component. Having had a very atopic puppy dog( at 4 mths) I really empathise with you and hope that these latest tests give you results. Did Mandy suggest a human prescription cream called Elidel? It did give my atopic pup some relief. From memory was about $35 and I had take the dog's script to the Chemist to be dispensed
  6. Hugs coming your way. we had to make the dreaded decision last July 2005 with our Maggie, it is hard. Allow yourself time to grieve, Thinking of you Colleen
  7. It is called Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency and if the Vet is on the ball and the diet has stuff like Enzyplex added the dog can do quite well. If you can send Holly or Rappie a PM, they are very helpful
  8. German Shepherds, Aus Kelpies and Aus Cattle Dogs are also known to affected by the MDR1 gene. Both the ACD and Keplie are descendants of the Collie. If in doubt have the DNA test doen through Genetic Science Services, around $65 but wll worth it. Even if I had one of the "affected" breeds andn the DNA was Clear I still would not use Ivermectin, Revoltion, proheart etc etc I have found the only heartworm preventative that has been safe with my Rough collies to be either Interceptor Spectrum or Sentinel Spectrum. Sentinel Spectrum is also an allwormer, including hydatid tapeworms, so I just note the calender for the same date each month to give. I also buy it from priceslesspets.com.au, a hell of a lot cheaper than the Vets etc
  9. was the Heartworm spot-on "revolution'? I ask as it contains Ivermectin relative and it is now known that GSD's, as well as Collies, can be Ivermectin Sensitive
  10. Thanks everyone for your beautiful words. "Brodie" was a One in a Million dog, even appearing on National TV, Good Morning Australia, with Bert Newton and Phillip Brady for the 40th Anniversary of the making of the original LASSIE movie. He often appeared at hospital days and performed for the sick and frail and he just loved it if he found anyone in a wheelchair- captive pats. God bless you my Special one. Till we meet again XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXx
  11. Apology to anyone if I offended but there was no intent to offend. Knowing these clubs extremely well ( founded one and instructed at both and been on the Committees)and being on the raw end of a wrong decision I can really feel for those that had "incorrect" decisions made that impacted on the end result.
  12. Judge wasn't named "Colin" by any chance?( there are 2 by that name, a skinny one and a taller well built one)
  13. being a former Hastings etc member and founding member of Frankston I can bet who the Judge was? Please PM me to enlighten
  14. My current Vet Clinic is on call 24 hours a day and are going to follow the new vaccination protocol. They do not drive luxury cars- most have twin cab utes and they love their animals
  15. for Qualifed Veterinary Chiropractors Australia wide go to www.chirovet.com.au and thecn click on the state you are after. These people have all competed the Degree In veterinay chiropratics and are no "weekend warriors"
  16. we never forget them, they are always in our hearts
  17. So true Darien, so true. Brodie, my Mum and Maggie and our Rescue old Collie Bundy who we only had for a precious 3 months will always be in my heart and thoughts.
  18. I use finely cut up pieces of boiled chicken breast fillets as treats at home and at shows, my girl loves them. Also reaasonably cheap and if the dog has a sensitive tummy it should not upset it unless they dog has a sensitivity to chicken. I would never use cabanosi, kabana etc , especially on a puppy
  19. 3 years ago today we farewelled our beautiful Sable Rough Collie "Brodie" aka Nauglamir Seabrooke C.D.X to the Rainbow Bridge due to him having a massive stroke after having a neighbourhood lout throwing an axe handle over the fence at him. "Brodie" we sought and fought justice for you and that sod was found guilty of your death and put on 12mths bond but as was typical for him he broke the Law again and is now in gaol. You were a very fit and healthy 14yo lad, even the Vet said at your birthday check-up that you should easily live another 2-3 years Your "Nanna" ( my Mum) joined you at the Bridge a few months down the track and last 15/7/2005 your beautful "sister" Maggie" aka Aust.Champion Go Get Em Legal also joined you, she loved you so much. ONE DAY MY SWEET BABY WE WILL ALL BE REUNITED Love Colleen( Mummy) and your "Poppy"( my Dad) XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX That young wipper snapper in my avatar is called "Phoebe" and is a distant relative of yours and very much like you in her mannerisms
  20. I use SentinelSpectrum on my collies as it does Not contain Ivermectin or related drugs. have been using it for yonks and no probs to date.
  21. Get your dog to another Vet and get a second opinion. I know it is a Holiday weekend but if it were my dog it would be at the vet right now!
  22. Yes Erny that is Phoebe in my avatar. We are dog showing at KCC Park in Cranbourne on Saturday, why not come and have a bit of an outing for yourslef, and dear Kal if she feels up to it. Bring $$ as the vans at dogs shows always look at me and say " Spend your money here dear " Yes , falgall KAL is a divine girl too :D
  23. You take care Erny, I will have to send some of the yummy local baked bread up to you so I know you are at least eating too. Kal, sweetie you are in my prayers every day
  24. Hugs to you Elsa . I have a cry nearly every other day for the lovely Collies I have lost since 2003( 4 in all- a 14 yo , a 9mth pup, ,my avatar girl at 7.5yrs last July and then Bundy, our beautiful Rescue Collie that God only gave us for 3mths) and my Mum to Cancer. It is OK to cry. we are all here for each other as they were our "family" not just dogs as a lot of people would say. Having never had human kids my furkids are my babies and it hurts like damn hell when you lose one
  25. Is she desexed? if she isn't some grils revert to "puppy" habits when on their way into season
