Depends which part of the Mornington Peninsula she is moving to.( it is a vast area) Having lived in Frankston from 1987 to 2002 the only Vet on the actual Mornington Peninsula that I trusted and went to was Frankston Heights Vet Clinic( Dr Lucy White and Dr Dean Gust- hubby and wife). We used to use Beach st Vet Clinic until they misdiagnosed one of our dogs and we later lost her . I used to travel to Sandringham Vet Hospital and Dr Stephen Coles was our main Vet( he is the Vet Advisor to the Royal Melb Zoo and also a Veterinary dentist). He understands about the drug sensitivites that Collies face also.

Our Vet is using the new Nobivac DHP(distemper, hepatitis, parvo) that last for 3 years and the intranasal KC Nobivac and has not increased their prices at all.Very happy with my Vet :D

Beef is well documented as causing skin problems in several breeds of dogs, especially double-coated breeds as it heats the blood up which in turn heats the skin up then you have the whole allergy thing happening.
-
I agree too- we avoid beef and pasta.Rather feed chicken and rice with their eagle Pach holistic
-
Wacth here closely as if she has eaten a dead mouse or similar it could have been tainted with Rat Poison and that could harm your baby.
-
Ring as Vet asap. That is a hell of a lot of vomitting in a very short period of time. Don't muck about with this

Have just been advised that Diane(DOL Member) Gunn-Scarceela( Gipfel GSD's) has suddenly passed away I have been asked to pass on to the list the very sad news that Diane Gunn-Scarcella passed away this afternoon at Wangaratta Hospital following a massive heart attack. Diane, you helped a lot of us in the dog world. My deepest sympathy to Tony and all the four-legged ones who will miss you terribly Colleen

Prism Brand Dog Food In Perth
InspectorRex replied to sandgrubber's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
have looked at the ingredients and i for one would not be feeding it to my dogs.It has by-products( which could be head, feet etc) plus has corn. I would call it a poor man's Eagle Pack. Eagle Pack Holisitc for my girls -

Hi My elderly neighbours's cross-bred pooch has what it appears to be Conjunctivitis. She cannot afford to take it to the Vet and ATM I am not in a position to assist her. I had heard that cold tea dabbed over the eye was great for this condition and was wondering if others had heard of that or any other natural remedies that she can make up from home? TIA
-
I would not use either Advocate or the annual heartworm shot(banned overseas) as they are both "mectin" based drugs as breeds such as Collies, Shelties, Aussie Shpes, Border Collies, Akitas and others have an Ivermectin Sensitivity and unless you have had your dog DNA Testexd for the sensitivity and it was Clear you could literally kill your dog using these drugs.
-
Our Collie Roughs have been on Sentinel Spectrum for over 10 years( and before that Interceptor Spectrum) and no issues and they all have the Ivermectin Sensitivity( confirmed by DNA Test as Affected). it also covers all the intestinal worms including hydatid tapeworms
-
Ah the deadly Metacam- one dose of it nearly killed my Phoebe( avatar) and she was on a drip at the Vet for nearly 3 days. I found out later that dogs that are Ivermectin Sensitive should really not be given drugs such as Metacam.Rimadyl etc What Noah is havig is an adverse reaction to the Metacam( Phoebe's diarrhoea was very severe). This adverse reaction needs to be reported by your vet or you, go to www.avpma.gov.au- they will follow it up believe me. You need to advise our Vet that this has happened and he/she can note it on Noah's file etc and also do the blood tests that Lucknow has pointed out also if you read.www.dogsadversreactions.com you will be mortified of how many dogs have side affects to these types of drugs No dog of mine will ever have a non-steroidial anti-inflmmatory again- too damn dangerous IMHO

Nervatona Calm Tablets can be bought from any health food store and most chemists stock it. It really works
-
why not try Nervatona Clam tablets or Liquid? they are homeopathic so cannot harm the dog. I have one dog who is so thunder phobic that when we got a storm she gets bad diarrhoea. A friend, who is a Vet Nurse and qualifed behaviourist, told me about Nervatona and to start giving her the tables as soon as we get an inkling a storm is on it's way( we have the radio on so can hear the crackels of lighting and that is when to start dosing). Well a few weeks back a severe storm was brewing so I started dosing her up on the Nervatona- she still barked at the thunder but no diarrhoea PM me and I can send you the doasage rates as it is different for the type of stress. It is made by Brauer and costs about $18.00 for 80 tablets and it does not zonk the dog out
-
I couldn't agree more Cavandra- no way Jose for the yearly heartworm injection. Time to go to another Vet methinks if this is the way this Vet conducts their practice
-
I have been using Sentinel Spectrum( previously Interceptor) for more than 15 years now and no issues. Both my Collies have been DNA tested for the Nutant MDR1gene( Ivermectin Sensitivity) and they are both Affected It is important to have the DNA test done becuase if the dog is Affected there are a whole lot of other commonly used Veterinary Drugs that the dog cannot be given as they cab cause neuro-toxicity( drugs such as morphine,imodium- there is a whole list of drugs) When I have to take my furkids to the Vets I take my "list" with me so the Vet does not give a drug that can cause terrible side effects, even death. For the sake of $60 it is worth getting the DNA Test done. Even though the mozzies are not about much all it takes is one bite from an infected mozzie and your dog can contract heartworm.Mine are on Sentinel all year round as it also does all the intesstinal worms including tapeworms. go to www.miniaussierescue.org and look for Buster Alert and it will give you a whole page of drugs that IVR affected dogs cannot have.

Aranyoz- that is how my Vet does it. My first post wan't clear enough It should have read My Vet vaccinate puppies at 8, 12 and 16 weeks then a booster 12months after the last vaccination. After that our dogs are vaccinated with Nobivac vaccines which means they do not need another DHP for 3 years.Intranasal KC Vaccine every 12mths, Nobishiel. Sorry if I confued anyone
-
If he has thrown up again I would ring the Vet back and seek further advice, better to err on the side of caution oherwise you mightn have to do a dash to the Vet in the middle of the night.
-
our vet does 6-8 weeks first C3(only if pups weaned at 4 weeks of age) 12-14 second C3 plus intranasal KC 16-18 weeks C3 the I year later the Nobivac DHP , that lasts for 3 years, and annual intranasal kc vaccine

a small handful was given with her normal food and rice. That was enough to set her tummy off and have a not so nice poop. As I have had a dog before with severe Inflammatory Bowel Disease I know how to introduce new foods extremely gradually and that is what I did
-
I would not be feeding a growing dog a food that has more than 24% protein. My guys had a few kbbles but my girl with the funny tummy had not nice poos so have sent product back. Hope it works out for others
-
received my Fresh Mix Maximal today( only ordered it yesterday). Have given a few bits of the kibble to the dogs and they ate it. Now to do the gradual changeover from the old food and see how we go Did anyone else receive theirs yet?
