  1. A few years back Phoebe was not pooing, and after one Vet wanting to do barium x-rays etc- it turned out to be that she had put her back out so it hurt to try and do a poop(went to chiropractic Vet and her back was out everywhere and after treatment Phoebe came home and had a huge poop) Might be worth a visit to a Chiropractic Vet for a check-up. If you have ever had a back issue yourself believe me it is very hard to try and have a poop.
  2. Fevah- Jacques is so adorable Send Charles Kuntz a PM( Veterinary Specialist)- he is so wonderful and so helpful and should be able to point you in the right direction for the care of the adorable one.
  3. I do not and would not feed pigs ears at all. They are coated in preservatives. If you want to feed a treat go for something easily digestible and less risk of choking as the pigs ears go soggy after a bit of drool and chewing.
  4. Agree pugRescueSydney- first we had the wonderful Rappie Vet and now the superb Charles Kuntz- we are so blessed on DOL to have these wonderful people that we can bounce things off
  5. Praying that the ultrasound will give some positive news for your baby Brodie
  6. Some dogs are sensitve to sulfates and I believe Joint Guard has sulfates in them? I would be giving Human grade Glucosamine Hydrochloride powder that MicroGenics make and you can buy at health food stores
  7. if my dogs needed specialist care /surgery Charles Kuntz would be my first point of call- he ia one truly amazing Veterinary Specialist. I would not chance surgey like this to a GP Vet- it is specialist surgery and as Charles has stated the dog needs 24hr observation post-op and not too many GP Vet Clinics can provide that. JMHO
  8. Thank God the dog has been seen by a Vet- let's hope and pray she is going to be ok
  9. I can recommend a superb grommer in North Balwyn if that helps? They judge, breed and show dogs
  10. berwick obedience is excellent and you can use food, clickers whatever and the instructors are terrific
  11. has your Wei been seen by a dermatologist yet? For your dog's sake you need to have an accurate diagnosis otherwiseyou are just providing symptomatic relief.
  12. Very well put Dogmad I would live on 2 minute noodles to ensure my furkids always had the Vet care they needed. If you cannot even afford a Vet consult( now my Vet gives 10% discount on consults to pensioners and hcc card holders so the consult is only $38) then don' thave a furkid . I am on Carer penison and my avatar girl recently had to have surgery to remove a large apocrine cyst I found on her tail during weekly brushing- no drama with paying the Vet in instalments if I didn't have the cash handy( in this case I did as just got tax refund). She had several follow-up Vet trips for pain relief and to change dressings and my Vet did not even charge me for those.
  13. I agree with Dogmad- I had a Collie with severe Inflammatory Bowel Disease and what you are describing is what Maggie's symptons were like. Your friend needs to have the dog referred to an internal medicine specialist who will probably do an endoscope and take biopsies. Our Maggie had complications and we lost her at 7.5 years after trying both conventional and natural vet treatment.
  14. yep sounds like pyometra to me too She MUST get this dog treated asap as the poor thing would be very unwell Most Vets these days will do instalments and GE Credit even has credit plans for Vet bills Poor damn dog
  15. I have nothing but praise for Melb Dog Centre but I did my business personally over the phone. I ordered my CM2H Dryer and it was delivered by them, earlier than expected and I received a discount for paying cash. Have you tried phoning them? Both Andrew and Emmett are really great to deal with and many others in this area will tell you the same
  16. Praying for Mason, and you. Have been there with a dog with HGE and was on IV fluids etc for 3 days- for my dog it was from a reaction to Metacam so you may have to watch that your Mason hasn't had an allergic reaction
  17. Positive vibes are coming your way and God willing your babe will soon be back home with you Colleen
  18. Charles Kuntz is absolutely wonderful- we are very priviledged to have a man of his expertise on DOL
  19. Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Inflammatory Bowel Disease are two TOTALLY different conditions so be aware of that. I lost my Champion bitch to severe Inflammatory Bowel Disease and I now have the condition myself. IBD is usually brought on by a bacterial infection in the bowel( well is was in my case) I would suggest you PM Charles Kuntz and he could help explain the difference
  20. Have my own hydrobath and dryer but even if I didn't our Vet lets you use their hydrobath and dryer for $5 DIY- now that is a bargain! :D
  21. I lost my 14 yo Collie to this- it is difficult to treat in older dogs .Our boy was borderline of a case of "is it a major stroke or vestibular disease?" Having suffered from vestibular problems for more then 20 years myself i can tell you that it is nit pleasant at all. PM Charles Kuntz about this as he is a superb Veterinary Specialist and what he does not know about these conditions he will find out for you
  22. You will certainly get lots of messages Charles, a person with your expertise and reputation is a Godsend to this forum Colleen
  23. Personally I would get this final vaccination done( I take it this is the one after her 3mth vaccination and she is about 15mths?) then decide from there whether or not you are going to titre test or vaccinate. I vaccinate every 3 years for distemper/hepatitis/paarvo with Nobivac and annually for Kennel Cough with the Intra-nasal Kennel cough. Whatever you do it has to be your choice. The one thing that I would NOT recommend is the yearly Heartworm injection as there has been too many adverse reactions and deaths associated with it.
  24. Welcome to the Forum Charles . We DogzOnline folk are very priviledged to have a person of your expertise on this wonderful Forum Colleen and Collies
