  1. a few years ago one of the Collies got campolybacter food poisoning from Premium Grade Human beef mince that I purchased fresh from the butcher. I would be getting the dog to the Vet and taking the mince with you and get it sent of to a Lab. for testing. Your furkids health is a stake
  2. I 2nd Belg Blue on the California Natural. I feed the Chicken and Rice dry kibble to our Collies. They love it and the kibble is large enough for them to have to chew it and not just swallow it whole. Their coats have a lovely glean to them and their poops are nice and normal It is a great product.
  3. Please let us know how the MRI goes with your furkid. Praying that it is nothing sinister for you both
  4. This procedure IMHO and experience SHOULD only be carried out by a Qualified Veterinary Opthamologist. He is looking to see if your dog has a Blocked Tear Duct. our beloved Maggie had one and when we saw a Vet opthamologist he was able to do the procedure under a local anaesthetic whilst we were in the room with her. If your Vet did the "tear test" )Schimmer I think it is called) and nothing came out of the nostrils then it does sound like the tear ducts could be blocked. I would NOT let a GP vet do this procedure at all.
  5. The Vet Shed only charge $6.80 for postage for 3kg and under or orders over $180.00 plus Popantel all wormer is only $2.60 for 1 tablet to do 10kg . Very prompt in service too
  6. The Vet Shed( I use Popantel all wormer instead of Drontal) for worming and heartworm prevention(dimmitrol daily) and for Frontline Plus
  7. Yes Phoebe's tail healed up superbly Jules. She wanted to lick the stitches so I just dry bandaged the tail( you put dry gauze pad over the wound and wrap it in Vet Wrap and also get the Vet to give you some Clavulox to stop possible infection seeing air cannot get totally to the wound) I have used this method on many a dog over the years as I loathe putting a "bucket" on their head and it has always worked
  8. Okay if it is on the tail it could very well be what my avatar girl had- an Apocrine cyst( cyst of the sweat glands) and it will continue to grow unless surgically removed. Phoebe's was right up near the top of the tail on the underside of the tail. Best get a Vet to check it and mention about the Apocrine Cyst
  9. Fatty cysts/lypomas are always best checked by a Vet, they can do a needle aspiration on the spot for you
  10. Thanks Rappie That is why I chose Nobivac C then their intra-nasal for KC
  11. I use the Nobivac 3 yearly vaccine on the Collies for dist/hep/parvo and the Nobivac Intra-nasal annually for KC This, from what I have researched, and I will stand corrected, a new vaccine and for my dogs they dis not suffer adverse reactions like in previous years with the old C3.
  12. Yes since switching our Collies over to California Natural Chicken and Rice( previously feed raw meat and vegs) their Coats are looking so healthy and as BB said the kibbles are a good size so the dogs have to crunch them instead of swallowing whole.
  13. The AVA has a "duty of care and disclosure" to the Public to name the Product. Forget about legal action, what about the deaths and serious health issues it is causing
  14. I am with Cavandra on this. Far too many dogs have died as a result of the Proheart Injection or Proheart tablest or had very adverse reactions. It can take months for an adverse reaction to occur and for me I will NOT risk my furkids to this drug. They have daily Dimmitrol tablets for heartworm prevention and it is not a hassle to remember to give it as I place the Dimmitrol container next to their dishes to remind me to give it at feeding time.
  15. Collies and Collie like breeds( Shelties, Aussis Sheps, Beardies, Border Collies, OES and quite a few other breeds) are known to be sensitive to Ivermectin and if they are given any drug containing Mectin family drugs it can be fatal( Revolution, heartgard, proheart and many others) it is due to a mutant MDR1 gene and the only way you can know for sure if your dog is Sensitive is to have a DNA test done-about $60- and if the dog will either be Affected, Carrier or Clear. If Affected or carrier you do NOT give mectin based drugs and there is a whole heap of other drugs the dog must not be given either. PM me if you want the lsit- will need your email address
  16. Not to be used on any Collie or Collie like breed and I too would Never use it on any dog Dimmitrol Daily tablets here and they are much cheaper ( about $40 for 1000 tablets) if you buy online
  17. Thanks for going to the effort and posting all of that I feed California Natural to our Collies and they love it
  18. Rappie Also if the dog is a Collie or like breed it could prove fatal to use it due to the Ivermectin Sensitivity in these breeds Unless the dog has been DNA Tested for the Ivermectin Sensitivity and results is CLEAR i still would not use it on a dog as it was made for livestock
