Has Anyone Else Suffered This Problem
lovemesideways replied to lovemesideways's topic in General Dog Discussion
Cuuute!!! I went through this whole motion of sliding him gently off my legs, still asleep, and snuck off to the bathroom...... 5 seconds later, I hear him snuffling under the bathroom door! Bastard figured out I was gone... -
I really gotta pee...... but Riddick is fast asleep on my lap and hes sooo cute !!!
-
I thought exactly the same thing. How can I check this? His ears seem fine, not smelly or anything.

Dogs on Show was awesome ! I had a awesome time, meeting all the DOLers (in my somewhats stalkerish way, jumping on Shell as she passed by "Is that Zero!? ") Riddick got much love and ham, so he had a fantastic time, and looking forward to any photos that people may have taken. I was too busy admiring all the dogs to take photos

I got told this one today. "Purebred dogs all have horrible genetic problems because they're SO inbred" A lady telling me my labradors where sure to die earlier than her Shmoodleywoo (or whatever the cute mutt was called) because they're purebred...

Sometimes Riddick will produce this really disgusting smell. Its like raw meat/fishy kind of smell. I originally though it was coming from 2 of his puppy teeth that where dead (and the vet agreed). They have since come out (after a bit of persuasion). Though I did find 2 fragments of one of the teeth that seemed to be left behind. One of which was half degraded and grey coloured. I have smelled his breath and his teeth and it really seems like the smell isn't coming from there. Any idea of what on earth this smell is?

Going OT here but, A flat collar, check chain or even martingale collar used correctly will not cause any type of neck damage. I have 2 amazing dogs, neither pull at all and both are trained on a simple flat collar (Though Rover wears a martingale, cause one of his dog buddys will undue and steal any other type of collar )

Me too!

Composing a email, warning them of the implications of promoting designer mutts, if thats what this dog possibly is. I hope I'm wrong and its just some breed I don't know!
-
Yep thats a the oddley dog I was talking about have had another look and he/she is definately not an ungroomed poodle, the coat is too wrong! If that is any kind of "oodle" I'm going to suggest some seriously flooding of that lady's email inbox, containing many many links to the puppy farming peter alexander will be supporting if he uses a designer mutt.

Oh please tell me he didn't pick a designer dog mutt.. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=4048...mp;id=750564886 Is that some breed I don't know about??

Feeding Dogs A Vegan Diet....
lovemesideways replied to Dame Aussie's topic in General Dog Discussion
From what I understand, Dogs should eat meat. They need it. Seriously... dogs are animals, most dogs I know will happily roll in some filthy, rotting smelly carcass of god knows what dead thing . They aren't and will never choose to be vegan. Again any dog I know is going to pick a steak over a carrot any day. In my opinion, You should pick whatever way of feeding your dog that you think is healthiest. Not just impose your own human beliefs onto a dog and potentially harm them. However, that said, I suppose if you could provide some kind of vegan alternative that would cover everything a dog needs in its diet, I wouldn't have a problem with it.. I would still think its silly though. -
What dogs did he pick? Is there a list somewhere?

Never heard that before! So you're supposed to put drink bottle full of water in your garden or what? When I was a kid lots of people would have many bottles of water strewn across their lawn/garden. I think the reflection of the water through a clear bottle was supposed to scare the dogs. Though I've also heard that it's because the dog will know it's fresh water and so won't pee or poop there (like saying a dog won't toilet near their bed or food but forgetting that the dog doesn't own that yard and nor can it tell there's water in the bottle). It must've been on Tv or something again here, cos my area has started sprouting water bottles again... the dogs think they are nice objects to pee on I can imagine Riddick and Rover would "mark" ever single bottle . What a strange myth!

Out of curiosity, can anyone say why desexing would cause a dog to become more aggressive?
-
obviously................................................ ..... My friend's Keeshond LOVED my leg. But I blame myself since I was wearing bicycle shorts during these "episodes" and who is responsible for their actions in the presence of spandex? and that, friends, is why I can never go back to the gym Cause in the presence of spandex you'll have the uncontrollable urge to start humping legs?

I will be there with Riddick ! So if anyone see's us, Please please come up and give him lots of pats. I'm still working on training him not to shy away from strangers. Though its only the rare 1/100 he will dodge away from. lots of proofing in strange enviroments going on. Oooh I will be coming to say hi! :D So when the random girl (Jen) and her black lab puppy comes wandering up saying hi, don't be too worried

My Maltese Is Getting De-sexed Tomorrow :(
lovemesideways replied to Sasha (Alexander)'s topic in General Dog Discussion
Theres no need to feel guilty !! You aren't hurting your dog. He really won't know the difference one way or the other. The way I think about it, my dogs, they're awesome but they're animals. When my boy goes to the vet to get desexed (he's only 5 months), he won't come back and say "Mum how could you chop off my man bits you awful person!!!" because he's a dog. He'll think "oh. Im a little itchy here..." And thats it. He won't know the difference. He will be back on his feet in a few days and you'll have your hands full in keeping him still before the stitches come out -
Never heard that before! So you're supposed to put drink bottle full of water in your garden or what? hmmmmmm like the time my Kelpie got into the dry dog food. She looked awfully fat and thew up a massive load of dry food and dissapeared (I was concerned that there was that much in her stomach so long after eating- imagining blockage etc). Found her back eating the dry food that she had just made space for by throwing up!! Beat that lab people!! Myth: Kelpies are crazy, destroy everything, dont cope will with being confined, need 10 hrs of exercise daily and shouldnt be kept in the suburbs. Myth: that ribs on any dog is a sign that they are anorexic!! Next to me lie 3 kelpies that have not been for a walk yet today and are all curled up on my bed asleep and will remain that way until i tell them its time to work. And if kelpies didnt cope being confined what the hell are all those farmers doing tethering their dogs or keeping them in runs when they are not working lol!! My labs can't beat that.. Though, you know those automatic feeders you get for cats? You fill them up with a few weeks worth of food and your cat will graze? Yeah. My cat, took him 2 days to eat it all. He was VERY round for the next week. I like to say I have 2 labradors, and 1 pretend labrador.. the cat

Well your dog would just have to sit on the balcony and suffer then, wouldn't it. That is irrelevant. And you don't know if the dog was suffering, you just assume that. It is OK to report it if you think there's something wrong, but that's it. Driving by and spying on the people is way to far. IMO of course, I realise you don't agree with me. Hello she lives up the street so has every right to drive past. Adnil drives past frequently to and from home and work I believe. Thats hardly "stalking". Why don't you stop trying to gain attention by making a big deal out of nothing at all.

Rover will be pleased to hear this! "I get more food!? WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!" then again he is a labrador.. "I get a miniscule piece of carrot? WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!" LOL LOL. My Aussies do this. Ohhh stick/bug/rock/barkchip!! Must eat it before the others can get the chance. I can get rover to run through his entire repertoire of tricks...simply by insinuating there may possibly be food in my hand. Mums standard answer to "how do you keep him so trim?" is, "I don't feed him enough "
