Wow! Where is the 'like' button when you need it What camera and settings did you use for this? Absolutely stunning! My Nikon D80 with a 50mm 1.4 Can't remember the settings! On manual, was taken indoors with a speedlight. Then processed in photoshop! Thanks!! Means a lot coming from you !!

When do I get to meet him is what I want to know :D! I always look at my favourite tv shows/movies/games/books for my pet names. Riddick is from Chronicles of Riddick, and I have a list of names for future dogs ! My friend named her cat Bronte, after the author Charlotte Bronte. Maybe have a look at some movies or books that you love and a name will jump out at you?

I can attest to Angel being a lovely dog. Even when Evie, (my DA Staffy X) bit her she didnt arc up. But Ruth, you must acknowledge that whilst there are many more equally lovely staffies, there are also a lot that do not tolerate other dogs. And the damage a staffy can do in a serious fight is pretty extreme. I'd certainly not be backing the other dog. I'd be happy for Honey to play with any staffy that I felt comfortable with- I completely trust your judgement and control of your dogs- but an unknown one in the street/park? Nuh uh. That also goes for many other unknown dogs/breeds. I agree. I would be 100% happy for my guys to play with Ruths dogs (which needs to happen sometime soon BTW! Especially with the new foster man ;D!) but that wouldn't change the wariness I feel when I see a random offleash staffy in a dog park somewhere.

George The Staffie Dognapped From Kings Cross
lovemesideways replied to fienix's topic in General Dog Discussion
According to the fb page it wasn't the owners who tied him up, george was with their friend who tied him outside a arcade while he ran in to use the ATM. -
If you are looking for other options, other than giving him up, then why not send a trainer a email? Just asking if they may have any other solutions for you. There is no "one way" to train a dog! There are other ways to teach him that being on his own is ok, other than just ignoring him when he cries! Or even if you do the same training but lower the intensity. Example being, rather than popping him into his crate and then leaving the room straight away, you start the training with a lower level. So, he goes into his crate and you sit there against the crate with your back to it ignoring him. So you are right there, but you're just not paying him any attention. When he settles down and is quiet and calm for at least 10 seconds, turn around and make a HUGE fuss over him! I don't know if this would work for you, but its just a example of how you can differ your training if what you are trying is not working. I'm sure you will decide whatever is best for your puppy. Just quick edit to add, I live in sydney and if you're anywhere need me and want to meet up and have a chat I'm happy to help. So feel free to PM me !

Where To Get Nikon Lens Serviced - Sydney

Service place anyone? -
I don't understand why you would let your dogs rush towards an entire male staffy who has already showed anti social towards your BF's dog Would you not just walk away as Ricky's owner did and divert their attention? I didn't let my labs go over, I probably worded it badly! "I let my labs go and ran over, growled and stomped at the staffy who scuttled away quickly. ", I meant that I had them on leash, which I let go of so that I could run over and get in between the Staffy and Ricky whilst BF distracted him and walked him away. My guys stayed back where I dropped their leashes till I came back to get them. Bad wording is bad

Where To Get Nikon Lens Serviced - Sydney

Gave it a try but still not working I think it must be something wrong with the connection on the lens? Hopefully the guys at Nikon will be able to help tomorrow! -
Im kind of glad to see I'm not the only one who feels this way. Im pretty wary of any other dog either on or off-leash, but yeah just a situation like the other day with 4 staffys as a pack off-leash under no control, makes me seriously cold just thinking about it..

So I'll be the first to admit there are a few breeds than when I see them, I keep a extra close eye on them. And it bugs me! I love pretty much every dog I've met, but I find myself nervous around certain ones now due to bad experiences. BF and I where doing some on leash training in and around a off-leash park yesterday, when a guy came in with 4 staffys, all entire. 2 boys and 2 girls. (I know they're entire cause of previous experience with this guy) I immediately get nervous when I see an off leash staffy, simply because of the rather horrible experiences I have had with them Which is a shame, because I find them to be a really beautiful breed in general. In this case, one of the male staffys quickly approached Ricky the GSD who is himself entire and postured up to him and growled. BF did a really great job of just walking Ricky away and getting him to ignore the other dog while I let my labs go and ran over, growled and stomped at the staffy who scuttled away quickly. The owner, between screaming commands at his other dogs who where racing all over the place, says "Oh don't worry, hes fine". I said, "No it won't be fine if the shepherd had reacted badly to being growled at." The guy sniffs at me, takes a swig of his beer and says "Well I got 4 staffys mate, and I'm pretty sure they would rip your guy up good if he tried". Like that was a good thing?? Am I crazy in thinking its completely idiotic to proudly state your dogs would seriously injure another dog? I replied "Men like you are the reason staffys have a bad reputation" and I got the hell out of there. As I was leaving I heard some commotion and saw the guy was yelling at 2 of his dogs while he was on his knees, trying to hold the other 2 back by their collars. I hate that now every time I see an off-leash staffy I get nervous . Is there anyway to get over a breed prejudice like this?

"So I just inherited my dads old 80-200mm lens. So excited about this btw :D http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/80200.htm this is the lens. I have a D80, and it works perfectly with every other lens I've tried. But it doesn't seem to work with this lens? You can't adjust the Aperture, it just flashes "F --". The auto focus doesn't seem to work either. I've googled and I'm thinking its either a problem with the lens or I'm missing something obvious! I'm hoping that I'm missing something. It is a older lens (5+ years at least) but it has been sitting packaged in its case for the past few years and even before that it was barely ever used. So has anyone has a problem like this? Or am I gonna need to take it too a service place." EDIT: So I figured out that one of the connection points at the base of the lens is missing so it needs to go to a service place, I have been in contact with Nikon and they want to take the lens for about a week before they can even give me a quote, and a few weeks for the service and thats only if they have the parts. so thats 3 weeks and I don't even know if I would be able to afford whatever they quote! So does anyone know a different place around Sydney to take a Nikon lens for a quote and hopefully good service? Or am I gonna have to suck it up and go with Nikon.

Ive just moved up to Wahroonga and I'm looking for a nice off-leash area where I can take my boys to give them some off lead time for training and general zoomies! :p If anyone who lives in the area or has been there knows of a place that would be great, so far Ive been to Rofe Park but it is fenced and just way way too small for my liking.

What would be the difference in a Anatolian shepherd and a maremma?

So you want to breed your 17 week old puppy because she is "pretty"? And you don't want to show her? .... So why do you want to breed her? I can't imagine any reputable lab breeder would want to breed their prize stud dog to a bitch that hasnt been shown and whose owner wants to breed her cause she's pretty. I also can't imagine that a reputable breeder would sell a puppy to be bred without being shown ect first... All sounds pretty unbelievable to me.

What Would Be The "right" Thing To Do?
lovemesideways replied to lovemesideways's topic in General Dog Discussion
For anyone who is interested in the original topic :p The husky is doing well, she has shaved patches in a few places where there where puncture wounds. The damage was, (according to the vet) much less severe than it would have been on a dog with less coat. The owners of the other dog have yet to show up again Heres a photo I took of the husky girl a while back. She is a really lovely dog, flirts with riddick and ricky and does these hilarious barrel rolls. -
I posted a while back. I broke my wrist pulling a small ball out of my BFs GSDs throat. One of the most horrifying experiences ever. Im super paranoid about any sort of smallish ball being around him now.

What Would Be The "right" Thing To Do?
lovemesideways replied to lovemesideways's topic in General Dog Discussion
Just a update, The husky is doing alright . They where back at the park yesterday (on leash and looking tired apparently) and my friend caught up with them. Apparently the vet bill was pretty bad and the guy has it ready and waiting for whenever these staffy x owners come back.
