I blow my girls coat rather than vacuum, 2 people I know well swear by the Hoover method. I am sure they are not the only ones.

Farts, you should be so proud of your amazing idea. I knew it would work you are an amazing woman. Heasapandabear, I dont know you personally but watching what you are capable of, turning Fartsys (Golden Rules) idea in to a reality I would love to see you in Parliament!! Well done to all the others involved, would be nice to see the names of all those who contributed here. Was you too wasnt it Knuckles? You are all fantastic!!

why? We too have had a dog returned but dont have a public go at them. I hope when they go to adopt a family dog that they dont mention Banshee as rescues dont take kindly to lazy families. you don't give up do you? No one called them lazy - it was simply stated that this was the reason they returned her (ie. didn't wish to toilet train her). and what image does that portray?

it was bitching. "The family wasn't prepared to 'toilet train' her, so she they brought her back. I'd been in regular contact with them and given them advice, from myself as well as the behaviourist. She'd only been there 2 and a half weeks, but they weren't prepared for a dog that needed extra time to settle in and made an occasional mistake while doing so."

Im sure there would be more to it. It would be quite awful for all rescues to come on here bitching about returned dogs. It is disheartning at times, but it is ALWAYS for the best. I agree, if they arent prepared to toilet train then yes, she shoudl be back where she was...totally for the best. Liek you say though, probably a bit more to it but I can only base my opinion on the fact they supposedly returned the dog due to toilet training. IMO if thats the reason, then youre an idiot. I'm an idiot?

you have a big heart RSG, bigger than I. A dog "with a lot of fear and trauma issues, not to mention being diagnosed with pancreatitis and now being treated for stump pyometra" I could never afford it even if I had the emotional capacity. It doesn't worry me, the last one I fell for cost me a lot of money and she was worth every cent. Same here RSG. I stopped adding up Banshee's bills when they went over $1,000. As you say, worth every cent We have also spent thousands on our rescues as a group and they too were worth it, but I could not personally take on an unknown quantity with a young family. That is all I am saying.

I havent thought about the aggression factors enough until now. I own 2 best mate bitches and often have the old bitch next door with my 2. I have a friend house sitting over Christmas with her bitch. Most of my friends have bitches but we only have only been around them a few hours at a time. Some of the posts really have put the fear of god in to me

With so many saying they will fight to the death, has this actually happened to anyone?
-
Yes, they took on a dog with issues, but those issues had nothing to do with her being returned. Did you miss that I mentioned how well they were doing with socialising, etc? Banshee was returned because she had a few toileting accidents and the family, in their words, didn't feel they had the time to toilet train her. I don't think that stating the facts and saying it's a pity is being hard. was she toilet trained when she left?

I think you are being a bit hard on the family considering the dog had so many issues.

Ethical Breeders. What Do You Do When You Can Not
~Shepherd~ replied to ~Shepherd~'s topic in Breeders Community
I would bypass our breed rescue in one state, there are all breeds rescues that I would contact instead. I'd certainly give them money to cover costs etc great, thanks. meant to ask would you cover desexing or donate what you could? -

We are hoping that it will be less than 12 weeks for the shep. The guy has had a marriage break up and left his two dogs with friends until he could find a dog friendly accommodation but the people minding them shot one.[no good reason and its been reported ] So he is living in the Coogee area and is deperate to have someone look after the dog or will have no choice but to hand it over to rescue. He loves her to bits and really wants to keep her but has put his job on the line now to drive 600 kilometres to pick her up. The Albury [ two little dogs] one is a challenge because they need to stay as close to Albury as possible. Dallas has them at the moment but needs to move them on asap. We have had the grey in Sydney in foster care also and its been a perfect dog but the foster carer needs a break. The owner has been visiting this one and taking it home sometimes for sleep overs so if possible the Ryde area in Sydney would be a good thing if we could. If not we will have to consider moving them out to other areas especially the shep because that one is really urgent. let me know about the shep as soon as you can and we will try to help if you can sort transport. any news?

How Do Your Dogs Wake Up In The Morning?
~Shepherd~ replied to tlc's topic in General Dog Discussion
only of late have I woken to a white handshake -

No worries Kaffy. My vet said that from what you have said on here the specialist is the only way to go. He also said that the cost is valid for the expertise, equipment and staffing. A normal collapsed lung surgery is around $1200-$1500 and can be done without a specialist but a foreign body is a whole new ball game. You obviously did you research, if you are where I think you are in excellent hands. My vet has offered to talk to you if you are lacking confidence with and decisions but you are obviously happy with it all so best of luck with everything/

If anyone has Kaffys mobile could you please send her a text to contact me. Will PM you my number ETA nevermind, she has been contacted. Thanks

What exactly is the operation, have you tried Lort Smith? I know my vet does a payment plan for large bills. Would you like me to ring around for you? I am in Melbourne and can highly recommend The veterinary Surgery Yarrambat.
