  1. COuld these things be pinned up the top under EMERGENCY contacts and advice or something? Im sure each state may have similar procedures, and its important that they are not bumped off the page?
  2. :) Happy Birthday, have a good one!! :D :birthday:
  3. Adelaides change is due early morning, us Vics have to wait til after lunch. Still bloody 37c
  4. Could you throw some wet blankets/towels/old stuf over the fence for them? Poor dogs No good doing that as the dogs would start running around ripping them to shreds they were in the shade of the backyard when I looked before ( a L shaped house so the shade is in the middle of the L shape under a veranda ) I'd be more inclined to spray the bushes soil grass etc in the shady spots every hour or so and nope cant do that if you sprayed the bushes in this heat you will end up killing the bushes by cooking them when so hot and the soil / lawn is in the sun so only would encourage the dogs out to play in sun love the pics of dogs in their pools and tubs thats why I said spray in the shady spots. Ours have never cooked in the shade.
  5. OMG how big is Zepher  Is the muddy keeping you cool enough today?
  6. Could you throw some wet blankets/towels/old stuf over the fence for them? Poor dogs the wet stuff will be cooking after a few minutes, I'd be more inclined to spray the bushes soil grass etc in the shady spots every hour or so, we do that out the back for the birds possums and lizards on these disgusting days. We have had a few possums die from heat stress over the last few years and this preventative was recommended by Help for Wildlife in VIC
  7. No I feel extra guilty about not leaving the air con on. dont feel guilty. they will be fine. Its not going to get below 30c tonight until maybe 6 in the morning. When you get home, If you have a few fans, chuck them on first and move the hot air around before you stick the AC on, cool air doesnt move, just sinks. Youll be right
  8. Dogs will be fine with shade and cool water, more importantly check on your elderly neighbours, sick or frail family members. A door knock or a phone call could save a life. We have a very elderly family memeber living alone, she put the heater on instead of the AC and fell asleep. She passed out, luckily was checked on by another family member who found her and took her to hospital. She recoverd, but has caused her major anxiety since the incident. Your useless to your pets if your out cold.
  9. The most dangerous thing in this story is probably car accidents being caused by the hot man walking his dogs. I would have had a perve. My husband has tats and wears jeans showing his bonds jocks and has his DG shades on. He is an executive manager during the week, wears suits and ties with no tats showing, and on weekends likes his style of clothes and body art.
  10. If I pay premium prices, I expect premium preparation. How do they know our dogs wont get crook from dirty hands or bacteria? I know, tell me to make my own.
  11. I wonder if we'd develop the urge to toilet outside? I cant now I have neighbours again. "Hello Hello" ....... you need some "neighbours be gone" trees indeed, preggas with nature. What a filthy image. I should report myself.
  12. I wonder if we'd develop the urge to toilet outside? I cant now I have neighbours again.
  13. That's not what I meant by 'bits' I am thinking more of reproductive organs/gristly bits of feet/..... I did not give anyone permission to feed my ladies cow, chook veal or duck dick. Off to read Royal Canin and Artemis lables. Better not be.
  14. human food 'black pudding' requires fresh pigs blood and livers to make. Liverwurst is almost as bad. Premiums at over $100 PER bag should be human consumable. Imagine how fit and shiny and full of real meat, vitamins and minerals and small black stools we would be
  15. It would have been nice if the other WELL KNOWN organisations had responded as promptly or at all, especially when they actually have 'bushfire' relief money sitting in their accounts. PACERS started after Black Saturday and needs to build up emergency funds for these situations. Hope we can get a little more together.
  16. Might be a good idea, will ring Julie tomorrow. I have no clue about anything at the moment, still in holiday mode.
  17. I have more stuff to put up. Can we start another thread?
  18. Trish, Steve and kids, so sorry things are so crap. Its been such a terrible year for you. Poor Grover, such a lovely boy with a big heart. Stay strong buddy your family love you too much. You know your beds here when you need it. Thinking of you all xxxxxxxxx
  19. Oh no, not beautiful Grover. He is so georgeous. I remember those beautiful hugs he was giving Steve on the couch. Just shows how much he adores you guys. Its not your fault, thinking of you all.
  20. Neither of my dogs had any 'issues' that were evident prior to having the baby so I suppose its a different situation all together. I still felt very anxious about the situation though. Maybe ask Erny or Nekhbet for further advice. Good luck, you must be heart broken, but your head is definately in the right place ensuring the safety and welfare of both your dog and new baby.
  21. Hi Chow, ITs an awful feeling when you lack confidence in your immediate enviroment when pregnant. I am 30 weeks pregnant now and am continuing to put things in place to decrease my stress levels for when baby arrives. This is my 3rd child and I suppose I have a lot of confidence in my ability to make it work. When I had my first baby 4 years ago, I had 2 big dogs. A Belgian Shepherd and a Goldie. I had 2 goats, 4 horses and 30 chooks. I had 10 acres to maintain and was still working. I was off my face with protectiveness and stress. I started to reduce my stress levels by removing those things that would make my life difficult. First thing was removing my dogs sleeping arrangements from my room to the laundary. I bought a baby gate to go across the door so my dogs had a confined space but were stilll part of the household. When baby was sleeping during the day I would let them in for a while and ensure they did not leave their allocated floor space. I would walk the 2 of them with the pram every day so they would develop a positive association with the new addition. Things were starting to fall in to place and a new routine was forming. My confidence grew and soon I started taking the picnic rug on to the lawn and throwing the ball whilst baby was in my lap or in the rocker next to me. The dogs developed a strong bond with the baby and never saw her as a threat. Constant supervision and positive reinforcement will work. Its not too late to crate train and let your dog remain in the pack. Unless the baby threatens the dog its unlikely it will fear bite. It takes a lot of thought and work to put things in place, sometimes money but it works. If your dog is going to be kicked out because you seriously think your baby is under threat after implementing plans then I would rehome. You dont want to end up hating your dog and not enjoying motherhood. Both of my beautiful dogs are dead now, but I did get a Whippet when I was pregnant with my 2nd. Again, I implemented plans and all is well. She heals to the pram and has the most amazing bond with my 2 and 4 year old girls. The Goldie died this year and the Whippet is an only dog. We are going to get another, and for me and my family we prefer to have a dog in routine before the baby arrives so we can all bond together. We are getting another dog Christmas Eve so we can get things right before the baby comes. Things are stressful, chaotic and difficult in babys first few months, but my dogs have just adjusted and I am sure they are more laid back than the average because of it. I never make regular times to walk or feed as I need them to be flexible, and they all have been. Good luck with it, try a few things. I do feel for you as will most mums remembering the anxiety associated with having their first baby. Your babys welfare is more important than anything, so try and get it to work, if it doesnt then rehome.
