  1. Speakin of donations, I have the 2 puppy pens and new staffy coat (from my daughter) plus small brand new in box little dog crate. I'm having a baby in less than 2 weeks and wont have the time to organise things. Someone can grab them from me and organise with Julie.
  2. going on the many imbalances we have around here and have delt with in the past, temps do soar when the body is fighting an invader. CNS goes in to over drive trying to rid of the invader. CNS can cause a lot of bizzare body reactions. I had a horse who didnt do a certain brand of wormer (we found out) but similar symptoms to a severe infection. Fingers crossed to the beautiful boy, reminds me of my Elliot.
  3. well I think you should add some pics of your work anyway, including whippy collars and leads.
  4. Just click on the link, she makes cool things!!!
  5. soz, spelling mistake http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showuser=2530 Kirislin
  6. I couldn't find her on the members list. Hang on, I'll try and find her!!
  7. My dog is pure and registered just not with the ANKC She is beautifully bred and has a the perfect temp to match. Am I breaking the forum rules
  8. Im sure it was a working dog, Kelpie or something. Danois, its a general dog question so why not ask? Could be of interest to others as well even if it doesn't float ya boat.
  9. Well then, don't go to his establishment - easy. I really wish Roxy Lady would come into this thread and comment about your extended family in the manner that you did about hers. But then, she's got too much class . :) :) :) Havent you heard of the google? Or a response to the stir of the shitesonhousen? Nothing to do with Roxy either Megan, a question she asked was answered. Shes most likely a fantastic person and has a great sense of humour.
  10. Of course they will. Amy was almost 2 when Squid died. Squid adored her and was so gentle. I have the most amazing film of the two of them together, Squid a Belgian Shepherd type of dog was 7 when I had Amy. They were always supervised, played ball, brushed and Squid would come everywhere with us, even in the car to the park when Amy was only a few months old. Elliot was 13. he didnt care either way as the only thing he really bonded with was with food. including the hand that fed him and it didnt really matter whos hand. That worked ok because toddlers have foody hands and smells so Elliot loved them all. Squid died suddenly from Hermangiosarcoma when Amy was 2. She was beside herself as he had gone. He heeled to the pram every night for the walk and Amy would hold the lead. I was pregnant at the time with my 2nd girl. We decided to get another pup (probably too early) for our family. She was a little Whippet. She and Amy formed a very good bond at age 2 and the whippet would follow Amy everywhere. When Skyla was born a few months later, the Whippet wasnt at all put out just minded her business and hung out with Amy. Amy is now 4 and Charlie sleeps in her room on her old kid couch (now Charlies couch). I got Amy involved in training even at aged 2 they get a kick out of it, and they earn a bit of respect from the dog at the same time. So, situation now is Elliot, the old Goldie died last year at age 17. I am having another baby girl on the 18th of Feb, I have a 2 year old and a 4 year old girl. I thing its better (for us) to bring a dog in whilst pregnant. The dog can go through the changes with you, adapt to the changes slowly, have time to establish changes of routine etc. We were going to get another puppy (to show) in a years time, but I decided I could not commit enough time to doing this to the best of my ability for at least another 4 or 5 years. I desperately wanted a Shepherd, then the perfect opportunity popped up for an older pup that would be perfectly suited to our lifestyle. She came at the end of December and is the best thing that has happened to us in years. It works, its easy and she adores my kids and Whippet. She often smells my tummy then plonks her big white head in my lap. She spends the morning collecting sticks with the 4 year old, then the 2 year old and Whippet stuff up the pile and run off with them. When the kids are unsupervised for whatever reason, both dogs are crate trained, so its perfect. My 2 year old isnt as animal obsessed as Amy was, but both the dogs respect her and she respects them. The key to a harmonious young family with dogs is Respect. Good luck with it, but early training for both human and kid are a must, they have to earn their respect somehow. No running, teasing, walking around with food, poking. They will bond for sure if you can get the ground rules set from day 1. I have seen kids put out by new pups taking the limelight so be concious of this too, empower your kid to be a good trainer and be a good model for the kid by keeping things very consistent.
  11. How ridiculous, go back and read the whole thread, especially where they have catered for children on pull out sofas in the same room as the adults. Not offered to me though, I have to book 4 rooms???? Bit of consistency wouldn't go astray?
  12. Sadly, they so often do. However, you have been given plenty of good ideas by the people who aren't interested in soley their own concerns, so hopefully that helped. Ditto. Yep totally EVIL. I hope she and her hubby manage a holiday this year with no kids within 1000km. Of course its my concern, I am a dog owner and I am always looking at pet friendly accom. I just happpen to have children, and in case many hadnt realised, you cant book them in to a kennel or pay someone to look after them. Its not that easy. Funny how a major annual dog event has done nothing but encourage me to bring my children, because they are dependents and I am their mother. Funny that. To me a quiet romantic weekend would be NO ONE at all around, especiallly dogs!! Dogs are a part of our family, and there is nothing better than all of us being able to go out to a place together.
  13. Actually everyone, there is an awsome old weatherboard house in Inverloch (dog friendly everywhere even peak season on many beaches) Excellent backyard, quick stroll to shops and beach. Classy area, cafes parks NO Fez's at all. Will try and look up the name, but we used to stay there with Squid and Elliot, sleeps heaps too. Very resonable rates. Google Inverloch, its stunning and only 2 hours from Melbourne CBD I had 7? dogs over for pizza a few weeks back (2 mine). Excellent night, and crazy? Absobloodylutely

  18. :p yes grasshopper...you are a quick learner !! be careful young Jedi, too many stirrs of the pot could bite you on the ass :D You may find chewie & her clan on your doorstep tomorrow !!! (and I'm sure she'd be a good guest) fifi the crazy with more than two dogs !!! Indeedy, A fold out couch with a newborn, 2 and 4 year old would be ample. Newborn in the Emmaljunga pram bassinet, 2 tiny girls on the couch. Whippet often sleeps on Shepherd and they are dogs so they dont use house furniture. Thanks for the invite spoof, make sure there's a cold one waiting for me in the fridge. What a shame I'll miss the opportunity of missing out on meeting all the crazy 3+ dog owners.
