You have owned soooo many dogs, how old are you? i'm inclined to feel that you may be telling porkies. we get that you don't like staffies and apbt's, maybe you should change your name to BSL. And for your information, I have never implied that I don't like staffies or APBT. I have always maintained that they require a responsible owner, a secure fence and to be on a leash when out in public. If I didn't like them I would have said, in no uncertain term, that they should cease to exist. I am not a shrinking violet and if something needs to be said I will say it, as it is. :D So where did you get your SBT's from and why did you part with both of them?

Wow Pointees, thanks so much for putting those up, you take some great pics.

I can see why you were guarded in disclosing the breed. Good for you for disclosing it ! Not surprised at the outcome. Poor Cavalier! I would have loved to have had a stick in tow and hit that mongrel between the eyes! How many more dogs have to be victimised at the jaws of these animals? are you really trying to say what your words are saying, or am I interpreting that you have it in for Staffords? Chewbacca, I have owned staffies before, two of them and both were unbelievably affectionate pets towards both my hubby and I. God only knows I can still see my male staffy whinging when I was applying my lipstick shortly before going out, he just knew and showed his sadness each and every time. Purebred english staffies are great little family members but they are DA (before people start jumping up and down I do concede that not all are DA, there is always the exception to every rule). The DA bit is the only thing I dislike about the breed. Yours were DA, the ones I know withing my circle are MY dogs playmates. All bitches. In their yard, at the park, or mine.

You did disclose the full story. Now your a victim of peer group pressure. You didn't find it necessary tin the OP? Disclosing the owners incompetence should be the focal point, as the behavior is the result of the owner.

I guess it isn't just a case of the dogs being well behaved but also of the children involved Good for you for instilling good manners on those cute kids Confidence and training on both parts Abigail

I stole the party pies out of the kids hands Yes, thats my kids party and Grumpettes killer Rotties. 30 kids Disco lights, balls flying endless food supply. Bombproof dog much?
-
indeed, so much so that they had to play a few rounds of musical chairs to burn off all the children they ate.
-
Rotties are so agressive, just like German Shepherds. Terrible dogs.
-
speaking of dog breeds, my 2 and 4 year old daughters really missed their favourite Rotties for cuddles and hi-5's yesterday at Kepala Grumpette!!! They had to put up with German Shepherds and Pointers instead.

I think what you are doing with the t-shirts is great to a degree, but Im not sure why people take on these dogs with out rescue organisation back up. You personally decided to take this dog on, so unfortunately there are costs involved that you will have to pay. If the dog has aggression issues, its going to be a very long and expensive journey, with a possibility of the dog never being able to be re-homed. Its a lot to pay for over a long period and Im not sure that people will continue to sponsor after the initial time. Lovely that this dog has been given a chance, but I am always thinking about those dogs without severe issues that are PTS everyday due to the lack of foster carers or funds within a rescue organisation. I personally would never take on a dog unless it was a foster for an organisation, its a tough choice to turn away a dog in need, but if you do, you need to take on full responsibility. If you cant, then IMO you shouldn't take it on.

The Victorian Dog Training Academy covers this, maybe email them and find out if they know someone in your state. http://www.vdta.com.au/

Make a call like what? You can see alot of dogs in half an hour (well an hour if you want to include both days :D) Especially when you see things you really don't like and move straight on. Mmm tempting, very tempting. I've always liked the whites. Is there any shows coming up (in Victoria) that there will be alot of them at? I have a Whitey and she is the most fantastic dog. I thought there was a show in October, but I cant find it on the website now. That is the White Swiss Shepherd Dog site. The National show is in NSW this year. THere is a White Shepherd meet in Victoria every month and the next one is the Millon Paws Walk. There will be two Whities at Kepala on Sunday, mine and Bilbos. I also live next door to a Whitie, so you can visit me and my neighbour and Bilbo on a weekend and cop 3 bitches, I have the long coat and the other 2 are shorties :D

Apparently I haz Flava (Flaves) and Pockets did very well. I was going to go this afternoon but a family thing went a little later than expected.

Call the police about the burn, wish I knew where they lived.

In all fairness, I have always been treated very well by breeders. The Belgian people especially. The white Shepherd people have neatly tucked me under their wing and are an extremely helpful and outgoing lot. I enjoy shows and looking at the ladies with strange 80's attire sipping their Spumante, they are lovely folk and really enjoyed talking to me about their dogs and the showing lifestyle. I dont have time for rude controlling people who dont relate to humans, perhaps that is why I havent had a bad experience
-
How rude, maybe you could suggest other decent breeders in the area? Some people dont want to wait a year, nor should they feel gulity about wanting to get a puppy within a certain time period.
-
Those words are an attempt of power. They are rude and unnecessary reeking of small Willy Syndrome. As if a 'time waster' would identify that they are just that anyway? Probably stops decent people with decent questions from ringing, ultimately turning to a pet shop. They wont feel judged for asking the wrong questions there. If registered breeders dont have the time for people, why bother? Maybe they should put a key selection criteria on their website as well to make prospective buyers even more intimidated. Bring back people skills.

~Shepherd~ replied to Abigail's topic in General Dog Discussion
There is no place on this earth for dogs who kill pets in the safety of their yard. -

Yet Another What Breed Thread...
~Shepherd~ replied to Verdant Amphibian's topic in General Dog Discussion
Whippet bitch. Mine is ver obedient and gentle, but full of energy as soon as she leaves the house. A friend has Border Terriers and they seem like fantastic little dogs. They are great with my kids anyway. -
Can I suggest you start a dog search thread like the cav lady did? So many breeders would read it and may have the perfect suggestion or dog for you. Write up your list of requirements and the area your in, then sit back and watch a great thread evolve, and hopefully the perfect dog in your home at the end of it

2 bitches here. Best mates WGSD and Whippet. All the neighbours have bitches too.

I was pregnant, hysterical and in shock when Squid was PTS. He was already under anesthetic. I would have stopped the process I'm sure. My husband had to take me away. I cuddled Elliot the dear old 17 year old man whilst he was PTS. It was different, he lead a full and wonderful life, Squids circumstance was very different.

Dont apologise, I think I'm one of the biggest miscommunicators on the forum. My username should be 'Cryptic', however, it is hard to understand a 'Wookie'
