Women Injured And Animals Killed In Overnight Fires (caboolture Qld)

Hoping today is another day of healing. -
This is today, come say hello and scoff a sausage or a bacon and egg sanger
-
:p ;) NO, dont do this ETA for clarity: the dog has cracked, raw and moist pads. Owner says they look tender.

I'd be putting some paw paw ointment or something on in the meantime with a sterile cover if you have anything?
-
Good reminder to keep the chemicals in a cupboard out of reach of dogs and kids. Lucky nothing was ingested. Hope the vet visit goes ok and your kids feel better. Its a juggle sometimes.

Sorry Chewbacca, I am not an MDBA member so was unaware. Good to know that there are people out there compiling lists of temporary homes for those in need. Jed has many friends who have offered a wonderful support team but not all are that fortunate and I felt extremely sad when I saw the plea for help regarding the boxer in whelp at Wagga. Dont apologise, didnt mean to sound like that as I have bubs and am typing with the lefty. Without buddies registered from all areas, help will be more limited due to locations so its a good idea to register now. Its free You dont have to be an MDBA member either -

Adding the link to signatures and facebook is another good way of sharing. With the additional crisis of today (another house lost in a fire) more funds and volunteers will be needed. If you rigt click on my signature and go to properties, copy the URL and paste in to the add link area. -
Thats Matty

See if you can get on to Matty. Are there any other rescues up that way?

May all those beatiful dogs Rest in Peace, just shows how much they loved their master by taking shelter in what they thought was the safest place, under mums bed. So terribly sorry for all concerned xxx -
I'd get vet advice, they would know what to use on dog skin, it is different to people skin. Maybe a vet forum or something?

Wazzat, the support from Julie and the MDBA through the Vic Bushfires was unconditional. The constant phonecalls to Julie: "what do you need"? "Right we are on to it". They were on to it, and served our community's animal needs along with others from the MDBA. Julie had a member deliver a load to here and her car blew up on the way home, she didn't even tell Julie when she spoke with her, I only found out as I rang her mobile by mistake the day after. Then PACERS was set up to streamline this amazing lady's contribution to assisting those in times of need. You need to have faith in your leader, and that we have. Having a strong leader and a strong team of hardworking individuals, any situation can be dealt with, and managed properly. This current crisis is one of many that PACERS have assisted with, it wouldn't be a good look to list the ongoing cases of the many people affected by emergency type situations. I know Julie has dealt with situations with money out of her own pocket at times as there was no money in reserve (sorry for spilling). Its so important to have ongoing fundraising to keep the crisis account full so more people can utilise this fantastic not for profit organisation. It was only last week Julie took the time to give me some much needed advice on a situation yet again, and I know she is the supplier of wisdom to many. Thanks Julie and Leslie for everything, also to the team of people including the dogzonline community who have taken a little bit of weight off the disaster. Your quite the supportive person yourself Wazzat , the perfect candidate eh -

Thinking of Jed, having seen the impact an devestation of fire fist hand there is nothing worse. I hope people can spare a few dollars towards her fund and support her as much as humanly possible. Not only is it the loss of animal life, but the history of the animals, photos, keepsakes and a home that is part of you. Donating now, for those who dont have much money even a small amount can make a huge difference as it all adds up. -
Please Help. My Daughter Is Terrified Of Our Dog.

It could be a 'control' situation for your daughter, Younger kids dont really have the awareness and fear factor so if they grow up with them (dogs) they are pretty steady around them. As kids get older they have a much greater awareness of danger but dont necessarily have the ability to break down or assess the situation. Your daughter may feel that she is not in control of whats happenening and its freaking her out. Youngs pups are difficult for even an adult to feel in control of so she may be feeling totally intimidated. Throwing a ball is controlling the actions of the dog as is leading it around the house, getting it to sit with treats. Do you feel like you have any control over the pup or is it left to its own devices a lot of the time? If you could prove your control it may be a good step forward for your daughter, and getting her to control some actions in time will assist. Crate training is also control, have you considered this? I have had kids who are nervous at my house control my dogs in short spurts. We then just leave it and do something else totally ignoring the beasts whilst they are in their beds. When they leave I like them to try and sit my dogs and do a shake. Its worked for now. Kids also are usually a reflection of their parents. Nervous, jittery, yelling, out of control or obviously not sure how to manage a situation a what little kids witness. They then adopt these traits most of the time. Calm quiet and controlled is the image you need to portray for now, even if you are not feeling like that. -
