  1. Dear Jed, "When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight." --- Kahlil Gibran Sleep soundly.
  2. seems like she isnt the only one with a taste for it. My Kimba licked up some of her squirt and I just found this thread form a few years back http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=143526
  3. we had my 2 and hers out at the off lead late this arvo, she first passed a regular stool, then topped by a dark green grey squirt, then 5 minutes later another large run then 5 minutes later again a full on back spray. She is a big strong very healthy girl, so that will go in her favour I suppose. Ive just been told she didnt eat a whole bag as there is plenty left but she is unsure as to how much was in the bag to start? I'd give your vet a call & talk it through with them if I were you, see if there's any point bringing her in now. If they say don't bother, then I'd still keep a good eye on her and be prepared to take her in at the first sign of her looking actually crook (as opposed to looking bright & healthy but just having the squirts). JM(not yet qualified)O. Not my dog, its my neighbours girl, but our dogs spend so much time together I know her habbits like I know my own girls. I'll leave it to her, and if she has to pop out I'm always on the watch due to our see through fencing.
  4. I can imagine the large quantities of diarrhea will cause a huge electrolyte loss and her gut enzymes will be in overdrive for a few days? She has a friend who is a vet, I'll get her to give him a buz in the morning. She is still fine atm on the outside.

  6. I will see her tomorrow, what can happen? Bacteria? Inflamed bowel? What do I need to report back? Is it life threatening?
  7. neighbour just found an eaten bag of blood and bone in the shed.
  8. Not sure how to interpret this. Excess grass? Dog is happy and energetic?
  9. which paper Erny? I can't remember exactly. The Leader, I think, but I'm not sure which district. Yarra Glen or something like that?? I've asked for a link once it is published - when I know it, I'll put it up. Ive not heard back from the diamond valley one. I was hoping they had contacted another writer. I will follow up tuesday
  10. My heart breaks for you Jed. Your dogs are beautiful. Its fantastic how far you have come, take your time. When something you love becomes a memory, that memory does becomes a treasure. Wishing you all the strength for the coming months. Lovely to see your posts.
  11. lol Oh believe me I am bigger than GOD when it comes to rehoming MY puppies1 lol good, as I would be too. Shouldnt impact price declarations though ;)
  12. I dont know why people are so 'funny' when people ask about a price. Be upfront so the prospective knows if they can buy one or not. Its a sale, so why stuff around? If people cant be upfront, then they could turn off the buyer and push them to a BYB where the price is always listed in the ad. Witholding a price is controlling. You're not God.
  13. I have heard this noise, and in our case it was blood leaking in to the stomach via ruptured tumours. It started happening every now and then. Didnt think much of it at the time.
  14. Hehe all good First time I've really seen it and it shocked me. Had to come home and snuggle Badger that little bit mre. Have a good outcome? Black and white GSD? No, they produced 2 coat colours from lots of different parents.
  15. I rang a dickhead in Melbourne last week trying to offload their Black and white GSD's Last week at 5 weeks old. Then there was more phonecalls
  16. It is just the opposit. If you work with a good rescuer, they know the dogs well before they place them. You will know exactly what you are getting. That is why the failure rate on placements with a good rescue group is usually very low. Raising a pup anything can happen. How many pups have you raised?? It is not easy, and if you have limited time at home it will be very difficult indeed. I would never place a pup with you, as I think the likelyhood of failure is too high. I do not think you are a bad person, I just think you have no idea what you are taking on. That is not to say you could not work your way through it. You may also change some of your expectations as you live with the pup. I still am very unclear on how many hours in a 24 hour day the pup will be alone. 8 hours when you sleep and you said 10 for work. Then there is diner time and kids activities, so I am guessing you have a few hours a day to spend with the pup?? you dont have to have experience in raising a pup to do an excellent job. Think about women, they are all first time mums. There is NO step by step manual on how to do it. SOme of the best dogs I know a raised by first time puppy owners and some of the worst are owned by "been there done thats".
  17. In my experience I think Whippets get on well with everything. They are also a good antidote for a high maintenance dog, she is such a calming influence on my GSD and the GSD really doesn't bark as the whippet doesn't. The whip has excellent house manners and the younger Shep copies. Shes a good mentor
  18. of course you can, most of the dog owning population works
  19. If you think the rules are being busted, report it. You have just started another.
  20. Congratulations. I have a Whippy Charlie girl too
  21. I think A whippet would be perfect for your situation. They hardly bark, happy to spend time alone, trainable, gentle can miss exercise for a day or 2. There are hardly any health issues in the breed. You will need to put a dog door in to a room with access to a warm bed (permanently) and coat it in the cool seasons. They for some reason out my way, are extremely popular and the blokes have them down on our off leash footy fields kicking footballs and doing laps. I have one. She was a pain as a pup but all pups are testing. She stole rather than destroyed. She grew up at around 18months. She shares a home with a 1 year old White Shepherd bitch, a 3 month old baby, a 2 year old and a four year old. She spends most of her day finding the warmest spot and sleeping. If your worried about the dog not being manly enough, you should take a trip out our way and see the well muscled beasts (whippets included) flying around the footy oval. They should look like powerful machines, not scrawny skinny breakables. Make sure you go through an ANKC registered breeder to get a good healthy well bred dog.
