  1. Thanks so much, even $1 is wonderful. Thanks for you support guys, SC and B and S, Bilbo may call you if catcher needs help!
  2. Oh no, how awful. Get better Yogi. Gorgeous dog.
  3. Thankyou so much. We need positive outcome energy now.
  4. GSD's and Kamuzz :p Cross fingers now this dog is not too far gone, but the worse case scenario is better than living the life of a stray
  5. THanks mate, I had thought about this and the catcher has said that it will swell so he is going to try and win him over without using it. If he has to use it we may have to ask for more help. The last thing we want is an injured dog, but head over heart we have to do the right thing by him. Its no life living like that, to become more feral and self sufficient every day. He could become a risk to the public and himself if he chose to go out on the roads. Thanks for your help earlier, the catcher man sounds very confident and knowledgeable.
  6. go away Bilbo and I will put in also, its too much to accept. Just called Bilbo and she was a little teary, especially after seeing what this dog is living off and living in. It makes it worse knowing he has a collar. Its someones pet.
  7. GSD's you cant do that. $10 is enough if we have 10 people. We are determined to see this through to the very end and I have a feeling it will be a positive outcome Hey, Sam the Man worked out even if we had a loss of $660
  8. Just wondering if anyone would like to help us out with this dog, funds are rock bottom and we would like to go ahead with the foxcatcher man. We dont have an exact figure at this stage, but anything will be VERY welcome. As I mentioned earlier our last 3 dogs have cost around $1800 but all been sucessfully rehomed in to loving families and this has all happened in the last 2-3 months. We have been unable to book another sausage in the immediate future so we are relying on donations only at this stage. What our goals are for this situation: 1. Pay a professional Catcher to impound the dog. (In the process now) 2. Take straight to the Vet to get a chip scan and reunite with owners. 3. Contact the papers and place an ad to find owners (Breed Clubs have been contacted) 4. Go through the pound process and attempt to have it released to us. 5 Pay any relevant fees 6. Pay for a specialist behavioural assessment and rehab training if necessary 7. Find suitable foster care and re home We dont want to go past point 2 and hopefully dont have to. $1, $2, $5 Doesnt matter. We will need around $120 to pay for stage 1. Bendigo Bank White Shepherd Rescue BSB 633-000 A/C 132589755 Thanks so much for everybodys input so far!!
  9. WOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BREAKTHROUGH!!!! Fox catcher called me back. He is going to try and lure him with a special bait and win his trust, then if that doesnt work use a soft dog paw trap. (need to investigate but humane) he has all the right equipment. Need full details or someone to show him where he is located tomorrow. CHecking with the commitee due to $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
  10. Very helpful company Nek, gave me a fox trappers number local who may be able to help. Waiting for a call back.
  11. Thanks Nek, none of us are able to camp out unfortunately but its good thinking all the same. Im ringing the council again.
  12. Thanks B and S. Why is it so hard On a brighter note, our last rehab rescue was rehomed today ;)
  13. Just got through to the DPI, lovely helpful lady rang some dog catchers out in the country areas. He said council will most likely shoot it if they cant get it and dont have a trap. THeir country catchers dont do the suburbs and cant hire traps. She told me to contact RSPCA and pray that my council will lend me theirs.
  14. thanks, glad you posted we were just about to ring you for your wisdom.
  15. Surely someone knows of a large dog trap available somewhere. This is doing my head in.
  16. they (both councils) dont have any unfortunately I am expecting a call back form our ranger this arvo, but I dont like our chances. We have offered money too, but they also have guidelines that need to be followed.
  17. Of course, the pound process is the correct thing to do. I don't like his chances if he's not reclaimed. agreed, but there is no alternative.
  18. My council only has one large trap they lend out, however its obviously not in their council so they are outting it through management but its probably a no go. They were very helpful though and seemed to think a trap is very sucessful and the only way to go.
  19. so glad your life is getting back on track. Diversions and channeling your love in to something else is great therapy IMO.
  20. The only dog trap hire I came up with is in NSW. Calling my council now to see if they hire. http://www.mascotwireworks.com.au/category.asp?id=9
  21. He will not go to LDH if he is chipped. He will be returned to his owner. If he is not chipped he will be going through the pound process. What are you getting at? We follow correct procedure. It is not an option to turn out back and leave someones pet WGSD to live in a paddock and turn feral. We are not the WGSD SES so we are looking at plans to reunite the pet with its owner and need help. The council has been contacted.
  22. I'll wait for Bilbo to go out, but then again I could probably describe things from the pics thanks to you. I'll ring in the morning, and the trap man too. I just want to be clear on what I am talking about location wise.
