The New Pet Rescue Site?
JRT RESCUE replied to Aphra's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Is anybody else having trouble reading the yellow printing, I find it really hard to read. Also although it is new I think a lot of people that are not good with computers will find it hard to get around it, something I find a lot of times happens with website etc., I find simple is always best. I am lucky with somebody within our group that is working things out after I couldn't get on also. -
No they were asking for a donation for a dog from blacktown pound which I knew had gone to a country rescue group, so I contacted them to let them know which group had taken the dog and they gave them a donation to help with the boarding that the group had while waiting for transport to them.

Does it state my name on their site as I have not received any money from them for my rescue. If so can you give me the link as I will contact them regarding this.

Looking For A Cavy Companion
JRT RESCUE replied to Missmizzi's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
I believe they have a male that is not a pair at Save our Strays -
But Nic when you apply for the Clause 16d you have to supply them with a constitution which usually states in their that you desex all dogs, well most of the ones I have seen do.
-
Nic if it is the place I think they were doing up it is not far away in the Hawkesbury area.
-
Nic I know what you are saying but I know of other groups within sydney that also take aggressive dogs and then want to rehome them. What I meant by the breeds they take is that they have a higher chance of getting dogs that are problems and then rest of us because not all dogs show their true colours in the pounds even with assessment. Tdierikx not sure where you read that I had received money from them, has I haven't and regarding the information of the amount and the group which it has gone to is private as I would not like some of you getting on their case and I sure it would happened. Chevy and Chopper that new place that they have used I believe was suppose to be their new boarding kennels and I think I know of two dogs that were moved there, one being a bull breed that no staff would move out of its run at the kennels that I use and another one was a boy that seem quite alright inside the run but got out one day and picked up one of my jacks, lucky there was two people near by and no major damage was done but they were asked to remove both dogs off the property. One of the volunteers from PR also stated that she thought the first dog should be pts. A guy which is suppose to be their behaviourist came and took them. Dogmad I totally agree and better control of the dogs that people are taking them and looking after needs to be done. But with all this I also blame the pounds as some of these dogs should not be release and especially when so much as been done wrong. One pound I deal with will put up not for release and I have had a dog that they didn't want to but I guaranteed them that after my assessment if there was a problem the dog would be pts as I have done before because over the years I have come across some jacks that the damage unfortunately has been done too much to correct and the best thing for all is to pts although this is hard to do at the time.

At no time did I say they were doing all things right and I do not aline myself with them but also if you wish to get people to do things the right way you have to also acknowledge when they do. What is the point in complaining about them taking money for certain dogs if then when they do offer it to a group for that dog you don't want anything to do with it, sorry but doesn't make sense to me. Also if I was a person that had donated towards a dog in need on their facebook page and then to find out that just because I had done that through that page that the group that had rescued the dog wouldn't accept my donation, would turn me off of donating to rescue and would make me think that the groups in rescue are just there to fight among themselves instead of considering the dogs in need. I also believe they are now getting a behavourist to assess some of the dogs that need help, another step in the right direction I believe. Again another small step in the right direction. Unfortunately with the type of dogs they are taking they going to get more problem dogs then most of us would. And yes I think there is a lot to be corrected in the way they do things but by sitting back and just picking fault will never change things.
-
I have never found things like this change completely overnight but by little steps and if this is the first one then I am happy that at least they are going in the right direction. But by not acknowledging it you may only make things worse. I see no problem in accepting money that decent people have donated to a organisation for a certain dog and if that money is now going to that dog then that is the right thing. This has all come about because I answered an email to H/P stating I was taking a jack and I received a email from PR stating that if more groups did this then they would be able to list that groups name on the site so people would know who to donate to. the more I read this thread the more I think of early England when if somebody said it was a witch everybody stoned the person no matter what and didn't give them a chance to clear their name, in this thread it is appearing to me, doesn't matter if they try to do the right thing, nobody wants to know, only wants to condom them even more.
-
I understand what you are saying but if people have donated to this dog then the group that rescued it should be getting the funds, isn't this what we all have been complaining about and now they have done it, they still are not right, sorry but we can't have it both ways. We want them to change their ways, how can they if we are all going to stand our ground and not acknowledge when a thing has been done right.
-
Well I must say I have seen another side of PR tonight. Most of us get a email from HP with the dogs in need and during this week I replied to them stating that I would take one of the Jacks. Tonight I received an email from PR thanking me for doing that and in turn now they can list on their site that I am taking the said dog and if anybody wants to donate etc for this dog my contact details are on there. I then emailed back to them about a boy I had seen on their facebook which I know has been rescued by another group and that group is boarding the dog for 9 days until transport can be arranged and that any help they could do would be appreciated I am sure by that group. Another email to state that a donation of a good amount has now been sent to the group that has rescued the dog. Although we are all ready to pick fault I also think when it is done right then that should be acknowledged too.

this greyhounds was kept on a greyhound property so there would not have been any chance of it being tested with cats. Has anybody got the listing on facebook asking for donations for the said greyhound because that could be sent to Gaming and Licencing board re fund raising not being done correctly. Unfortunately the one with my dog I think is long gone unless somebody has kept the listing but could never find out if money was raised or not, only know it was asked for.
-
I have seen so far two of my dogs on their page asking for donations to save them when they have already been in my care and they have had nothing to do with the saving of these dogs, and no I haven't received any donations. And when I asked about the first one I was blocked from the page. I believe they think all dogs should be saved which anybody that has done rescue know that this is not true and some dogs the damage is too far gone. I know at one of the kennels where I have my dogs there was one that was rescued by them and none of the staff were prepared to take it out of the kennel because of its aggression. That dog has now been moved to another kennel and god help the person that eventually gets it without true knowledge of this dog. Although it is hard in rescue to make that decision to pts, it has to be done for the good of that dog, for rescue to continue to be trusted and also I can't afford to be sued if I place a dog into a home where it will do damage to a person or child.
-
Then the people can go to the authorities regarding buying an item and not getting what they should have got, because they would have been given the paperwork from Hawkesbury pound.
-
Also who did they pay the money to for the adoption?
-
If you rescue a dog from Hawkesbury, usually whoever picks the dog up will be given their microchip and vaccination paperwork. Can you find out who the dog is chipped to. for a group which is not a rescue group they have a lot of dogs in care, I know at one kennel there is at least a dozen dogs under their name.

If it is the same ones, the breeder is involved and I believe has found a home for them. -

I know the Qld club does rescue as well and would imagine they would help if the breeder isn't. -
Not sure where all this full on JRT's are. but like any breed there are calm ones and full of energy ones. If you like to contact me and let me know where about you live etc I will have a look at what we have and if we have a dog that I think will suit will let you know, we also have a trial period of a month. Also most Jacks are not snappy, this is usually a playful thing they do when they are young and should be trained out of them but some people think it is funny and then it becomes a habit because they don't know any better, but we often get some in rescue within the young ones and this is trained out pretty quick.

Matching Dogs To Foster Homes
JRT RESCUE replied to kayla1's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
If only we had enough carers to do this, but I don't. But I do consider the carer in regards to which jack they get, I have one carer that doesn't have a dog and she is good for the ones that are not that social with other dogs. With most of my carers who have jacks I put the opposite sex with them but also know their dogs well to usually know what is going to go with their dogs. I have one carer that has a few males and they all run together so again I have to consider this when sending her down another male. And they all know if there is a problem then the jack comes straight back to me, no problems. -

If you are unable to rehome him I could probably take him up here and find him a home. -
I just sent a boy down that way and apparently when the vet that I used for his desexing didn't pick up that he has two rotten teeth that needs to come out, which I would have had done at time of desexing had I been notified. Now I am looking for a vet that will do it at rescue rates to help the new owner.

Let me know what is happening with the two pups as I can take them.

the situation of the the staffy and amstaff being sent to SA to a carer who from what happened does not know the breeds because nobody in their right mind would be two dogs of those breeds that had never meet before into a back seat of a car with no crates. Well a fight started and they had to call the police to break it up and remove them to the pound, this was straight from the person that transported to SA.
