How do you find the latin and gaelic words for things?
-
If the schedule asks for a SAE, you usually get the numbers, receipt and other necessary entry passes a week before the show. Sometimes if they ask for an SAE and you only get a receipt back, it means the numbers will be available on the day from the secretary's desk. Usually I find that shows at Durack never require an SAE. Any shows away from Durack usually require an SAE and they usually send you the numbers before the show. Some of the bigger shows away from Durack (like Caboolture Kennel Club, Sunshine Coast Kennel Club) don't usually require an SAE. You usually just pick the numbers up at the grounds. Sometimes I find cashing of the cheques not the best indicator because I've been to a show, showed and then the next week the cheque has been cashed. This happened when we went to Melbourne this year!

I was sure they said in the news article in Brisbane tonight on Channel 7 that the last people they were evacuating were the ones with pets becuase they wouldn't leave them. They showed two men carrying a pile of crates and the voice over said they were obtained from nearby Biloela. They showed the people putting a large lab x looking dog into a crate and carrying it to the helicopter. The lady they interviewed said she couldn't believe people could just get up and leave their pets. She wasn't going anywhere until they were allowed to be evacuated with them. We would just chuck my girls in the back of the car and go. Just devastating for the people involved.

I was in tears watching that. My OH and I both said we'd never leave our dogs behind. I got the impression those still there weren't leaving because they couldn't take their pets. So they gathered crates from Biloela and brought them in, so residents could put their dogs on the helicopter to evacuate.

Too true Megz. I thought I'd enter her into Junior, but just thought I'd ask others opinions.

They were stuck on the Bruce Highway by the Isis River. I thought that was around Childers.. So it might not effect Maryborough people. It was just opened a few hours ago and they've just been let through. Took them 9 hours to get home from Brisbane.

There are already roads to Bundaberg closed. My brother in law tried to get home to Bundaberg (from Brisbane) today and they can't get through.

I'm not sure she could pull off Open. Plus her mother will most likely be in Open. (If they are showing her in Open.. she'll be 7 in January). I agree that most commonly the challenge winners are from Open, but this years specialty saw the bitch ch come from puppy and went on to win BIS. ETA: She's not really big or looking overly mature, she's still a little bit of a flippy floppy puppy, but whilst she was growing up, she was bigger than others her age and bigger than others older than her. She's evened out with the average height of a beagle bitch now.

I'm just after opinions on what class you would enter a bitch into if she was 17.5 months at a specialty. Would you enter Junior, Aust Bred or Open? A bit of advice I was given when I started was to always enter your dog in their proper class at a specialty. If I go by that advice, I'd enter into Junior. I'm just wondering what others would do. She's a bitch who's looked quite mature whilst growing up, so could well pull off Aust Bred/Open, then in that case, might look too mature for Junior. Argh!

Just confirming it will be in the February edition of the dogworld magazine. I've just got the January 2011 dogworld today and it's got the March shows in it.

I Almost Killed My Dog By Giving Him Fish Oil Tablets :(

Me too, mine are on BARF and two get glyde every day and one gets a small amount of omega 3 blend to help with her skin flair up she had last summer. I've never heard of needing extra vit E either. I too will be looking into this. -
Aww, Abby would love to meet Archer! I'm showing this weekend at Beerwah tonight and Caboolture the next two nights if you are there! I'd love to meet Archer You do realise Abby will probably just think it's Freddy! Silly blonde idiot she is

It's funny how things happen. Twelve months ago, I had a lot of people asking me "which puppy from Macey's litter was mine?". I laughed it off, brushed it off and the thought of getting a third beagle was daunting enough to dismiss the thoughts. I was lucky enough to see this litter grow from the ultrasound at 4 weeks, to the all night labour and the eight weeks of fun. It's very hard to take weekly photos and play with these puppies for 8 weeks and not get attached. I was offered one of the girls to run on and see how she went in the show ring. I thought I'd go into it thinking of her as a foster dog, if she didn't work out, she'd be moved on. HA! Who was I kidding? This gorgeous little girl didn't take long to worm her way into our hearts, and the hearts of my girls. My biggest worry was how my older two girls would take having a puppy introduced to their pack. I'm sure they lived everyday thinking "surely this dog will leave soon, it will only be here for a short time like the rest, hey mum?". Twelve months on, she's still here and an absolute delight to own. She quickly took on the name "monkey" from her antics of jumping around the lounge room, up trees and the noises she makes, she is our very own little monkey. Abby has also done very well in the showring winning two Best Baby Puppy in Show's, one at her and my first ever specialty. Classes in group and in show, plus best headed bitch at 11 months at the Victorian specialty. To top all that off, Abby won a Best in Group at 9.5 months of age against stiff competition. To say she's exceeded my expectations is an understatement. Her future is hopefully bright and plentiful :D I can't wait for her to mature up and fill out. Happy birthday my beautiful baby girl! A girl with way too much character, not a lot of tact and a gorgeous giving heart. Love you baby girl! She was only a few hours old.. And to today when we had cakes and opened presents:

It's that time of year again! Sally and Leia's birthday with the added bonus of their sister Abby's 1st birthday as well! The girls birthday has always been a great event in the past, albeit sometimes hot due to the time of year. We would like all their friends to join them in celebrating their birthdays. Date: 28th November, 2010 Time: 9am Location: Stackpole Street, Wishart Very hard to believe that my girls are nearly 4 and my baby girl isn't a baby anymore We would love to see any Brisbane DOLer and their dogs that can make it there! As long as your dog is dog friendly, you are invited. Leia Sally Abby

Really? Yay! It's not fair they moved everyone, now I can't see and yours are SO far away! -
My girls hated the water when we used to go to the beach. The waves coming for them were the scariest thing in the world!! We've just gone with them at least once a month and they now love it. As soon as we let them off lead, they head straight for the water and run through it. Still a little weary of the water coming towards them, but as soon as it recedes, they run through it. Give him time He's only a baby. My girls HATE being washed and won't wade in a clam pool in the back yard, but they love the beach.

I've just had a quick look and I can't see them online anywhere
