Thanks. I have decided to stay away from Tamron and stick with Nikkor. I'm saving hard for the 70-200 VR. I would never buy from Harveys either, complete rip-off and know nothing about the products they sell. They once quoted me $1500 more then Camera House on a lens. I just use them as they are close to trial the lenses on display.

Thanks. Yes there sure is a lot of factors for a picture. I do like the 50m 1.4 images I have seen on here lately. But I think I will just put it into my 70-200 and with my 24-70 will do me for awhile in the way of lenses.

Could I see the 2 different images. One you PS and one with the filter? Only if you dont mind.

mersonmalinois my tips to you is get out there and experiment. You can read and read all the correct ways to do something, but nothing beats "hands on" learning. Good luck and will look forward to some of your shots.

HDR is the three different shutter speed and overlays isn't it. I need a tripod to attempt this. Do you have any examples of your originals shots and then the final image? Is this something you use a lot as a professional?

Yes I want to find someone old and wrinkly to work on. My next project.

Just a crisp clear photo really. Depends what your after as I found the pictures were my ISO was higher gave a more grunge look. Less was more crisp. This picture had more light but I wanted it more moody, so I hardened the effect more. I love the look as I think she looks so innocent and renaissance feel. Just to add one of Calvin.

This guy gave me the basic idea of where to start. But you really have to find what works yourself. This will give you the steps. He does ramble on a bit at times....... Dragan Effect basic idea

Ashanali I really love your rose. I actually like the spider taken with the 70-200 the best, it's really gorgeous. Do you think the 70-200 added more quality on the picture or because the colour and composition is brighter and tighter then the others with the 50mm? I have to admit I got a bit of a fright with those web spinners and thought they might eat me and my dog, so I sprayed. But I am wiser now the longer I live here. RIP spiders. Chezzyr I am pretty sure it has to be images purely taken and related to the challenge.

Been trying to figure out the Dragan Effect. Had a play with a few of my sister. Also Ralph. I cant seem to get Rocco to look good. I think I might be over-kill on his wrinkles but will keep trying. I now have to set up a picture I like with my sister and Ralph and work on it until I get it right. Take alot of practice to get good at this effect though. But it's been interesting learning the different ways to achieve it. I have never been that taken with photoshop but since I have been enjoying photography so have I been enjoying photoshop.

The colour in the rose pic is gorgeous.

Had a very quick play with the effect. So many steps to remember. I didn't play around and perfect the areas I wanted sharp etc. But got a animated feel I wanted. People are so much easier to do then dogs. My Roc attempt was a complete disaster, he looked 100 years old.

I am so glad I wasn't the only one trying to hide my panic. Steve, will look forward to your next visit.

Am I not mistaken that Matt was a ex CD turned world class photographer? I guess his art direction helps with his compositions. I heard he did a seminar and all the class were asking all sorts of question on his exif etc and he had no idea. His advice was "he does what works"...... my type of learning. Those other links you gave are fantastic photographers as well. I have seen your site before. Your wedding portfolio is very impressive. I just watch a example on Dragan technique and plan to give it a go. What is the difference between HDR and Dragan? You can start the Dragan effect with-out having to take three different shots at different shutter speeds? I guess it's all fiddling around until you get what you like. Chloes dad - good job.

Nope go for it, post away. Poor Callista. A few must of decided to resides in Roc's bed and didn't make it out alive from what I found too.

Thanking you. I cant wait to get a minute to try this on a picture. Looks like something that will take a bit to learn and get right though. Has anyone had a go brave enough to show a before and after?

just frantically checked Roc. Just when I was recovering over the size of those horse flies. Not use to bugs you can saddle and ride yet!! Sparks only pic I got of your boy.

I thought I would ask in here. This guy is one of my hero's in photography, huge admire of his work. How does he get that "cartoon" look on his images? I know alot is PS with backgrounds etc. But the people look surreal. Matt Hoyle

I was talking to the guy from d-d-photographics and he said he cancelled Tamron as he had so many quality issues with the brand. So that did it for me, back to Nikkor.

Agree, thanks to Seita and Camp Tailwaggers. Brilliant day. I am kicking myself I didn't do the two days now. Great to meet you all. Roc was so well behaved and didn't embarrass me. That's a plus. Steve....

Are you sure you're not in Fiji, rocco? Yep Im pretty certain I don't live in fiji. Great pictures. I was wondering if we could get some info on the shots so we could see what lens and exif etc? I like the one of Chopper in-between the pillars and wondering what lens you used?

Would Your Photography Be Better If Your Dogs Were Better Trained
rocco replied to ruthless's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
I was just looking through this thinking.......pfffffft that's not drool..... then I arrive at my dog staring back at me. Roc is loud and proud of his drool. Nothing can bring him down. So who wants to tackle this? Any takers?
