Argh the choices Rugers. What I'm doing is buying good versatile lenses and then I wont have to have any more for awhile as they will suit for all occasions. I have the Nikkor 24-70 f2.8 ED ($2300-500) and it is such a beautiful lens. I can action my macro with my portraits. It has done me well and I LOVE it. 24-70 f2.8 read Then I hope to purchase the Nikkor 70-200 f2.8 VR soon for any action long distance stuff. If I was you I would get the 70-200 VR first if it's what you want.

Yeah, some of the BM standard you see around is disappointing and ugly heads. Sometimes I don't even think it's necessary BYB stuffing it. Some breeders just dont have good foundation dogs to start. I guess everyones like certain types and strive for that even if it isn't appealing. I always think as long as a BM can knock down a full grown man then all good, but some I would question. Thanks for your Roc comments. ;) Anymore pics?

He is so magnificent Lynai. Really looking great. Cant wait for the next growth shots. Thanks Clyde, that means heaps. I love his type and substance as well. He is very special.

OK, got it. Thanks.

what is a "catchlight"?
-
OK...... you lost me at the second layer.

Really nice. Do you use a lot of masking in PS?

That is gorgeous!! I love raw, promise just give it time it will grow on you!

Thank you, very interesting and you are a book of knowledge. So if the Mastiff nearly became extinct at the end of WW2 1945-ish then the Bullmastiff would have more pure English Mastiff blood running through it then some of the Mastiff around today? Bullmastiff was recognized in England 1800's and having 60% Mastiff running through it. That's exciting. Well Lynai you sure know your Mastiffs and sounds like you will have a fantastic breeding program in getting a correct type back.

The moon pic is nice CM, you can see heaps of detail.

Oh I am a PC phobic so cant help sorry. I find on my mac it is easier to load my raw to the desk-top straight from the camera and sort that way. I am not keen on those loading programs and raw is such huge files I only want the keepers.

Are you on a PC or a Mac?

That's interesting. So the "English Mastiff" was nearly extinct after the war. So they added Great Dane/Saint to the mix to bring back the "Mastiff"? That would make sense with most of the type you see around. What a shame. I always wondered why people got assy when you called them English Mastiff. So is there not much "English Mastiff" type around anymore? So why did the name change from English Mastiff to Mastiff or was it the other way around? I'm not really grasping the stick here am I. I love dog history. Esp the Mastiff as it's one of the ancient breeds. Also why I love the BM as it has a interesting background and purpose.

hmmm.... but one Mastiff means I could have two Bullmastiffs. BM are my heart and I plan on showing them. Just waiting at the moment for my champion. Oh and I need to fit my SA Boerboel in somewhere as well. In all honestly awhile ago I was at a all breeds Champion show in NZ and I went to admire the Mastiffs. There were some enormous boys and they were still very young as in 4-5 years and they looked old. Had huge growths hanging off them. They moved really slow as they were so huge, not agile or sound. Did I just get a bad bunch of Mastiffs? Do they age fast and slow movement. Can they be agile, but big? So due to that It made me think I can dream but I might admire them from a distance. I haven't seem many over here I like yet. We have one in our street and I swear Rocco's bone is heavier. Your breeding boy - Brutus is my absolute dream Mastiff. Huge bone, wide and not overly tall and you mentioned he moves well. One of the nicest boys I have seen in awhile. I also like Wowsa dad. He looks strong and sound for his size. Arrrgh you have good taste.

OK, they sure were not kidding about hard to clean. I just had a look at mine. All you do is move the smudge around. Those Singh Ray look so wonderful, but yes expensive.
-
He is looking so beautiful. He is so my type of Mastiff, with heavy bone. You look at him and know he is a Mastiff pup. Would love to own one but I know I never will. Can we have a weight and rough height average?
-
Can I ask what you mean by this? Do they attract the dirt or is my Spray'n'wipe multi purpose spay just not going to cut it in cleaning it. Do I need a special diamond encrusted cloth? Also is this a worth while filter: Hoya Super Pro 1 Circular Polariser?
-
Ruthless I dont see a problem with your images except maybe a light issue, otherwise nice. At least they are not a blurry mess. I've thrown the towel in on action shots. Could someone point us idiots in the right direction for a good filter? What to look for beside $150 price. I just bought a Hoya Super HMC Pro 1 UV purely for lens protection as I thought scratching a filter would be cheaper to replace then my lens. Never thought it could effect quality. Now I can blame my sh!t photography on my filter. Also......Happy Birthday to Chopper.

Look at all those medals, what a legend. I thought I would add this one for "people". I cant decide if I like it or not yet. The light was all wrong and it was a bit gutting as I wanted it to work. I came back with 50 images all crap. Sometimes photography can really get you down. Nikon D200 28-70 ISO400 36mm F9 Retouched in Lightroom and photoshop

chezzyr the butterfly is gorgeous. Tokkie nice job with the bee. I had a play with more "out-front of my house". I was going to do "people" and took my camera to queen st mall, but chickened out. Front gate. Calvin joined me on the front steps. He is a wonderful cat to photograph. Just works it baby!!
-
Very nice both to car and pictures. You can park that out the front of my house and I will swap you a crappy Peugeot!!
-
Photoshop can do anything. I would say playing around in your channels. Do a search on the web for PS infared pic's and you will find someone showing you how to do it.
-
Lightroom is a fantastic program if you cant be bothered with PS. Winterpaws do a google search and you can download a free months trial. Worth it.

I like the fence POV.

Chloes Dad that looks really nice. Good job. This was another image I looked at. Unfortunately the original photo was crap. Blurry as I didnt capture the moment due to re-positioning myself. Real shame as it's so Roc'n'Ralph. Would of been a great shot to spend time on and perfect.
