I can offically join in this thread now. I actually went down to purchase the 85mm but walked out with the 50mm. I fell in love with it. Some very quick shots I took, not really trying too hard, so excuse the quality.

iltby, great job on the eye. ;) Kja love your shots. D - Deep in thought. (He is actually watching Desperate Housewives)

I just want to say a public big awesome thank you to LukeW for being such a star on this forum and helping all of us out with our photography issues. You are an absolute gem. Speaking for myself, I have learnt so much from your wealth of knowledge. So thanks for being so patient and understanding especially for the photography retards like myself. Also like to thank Ashanali, Kja and Rubiton for your help and expertise. We all appreciate it so much and I hope you can see by all the flood of DSLR purchasing that you've been a huge influence. If I have missed any of the professionals I apologise. You're all sweetbix. Cheers.

Nice Ruth, I like the treatment on G.

Hell no!! I can feel all the professional photographers on here cringe. Ralph is pretty good little chap. Just stacked against the wall. I would of preferred to have the boxes out from the wall for a nicer shadow. But safety first.

I had my first day using Manual mode on my camera. I hope to keep this up. (I take it we don't have to start from A?) T: Tower. R: Ralph.

Ash your work is beautiful. Very inspiring for myself to one day be that good. I thought I would try and do a car. So I went and opened the mini up and just as I was planting down my camera this event took place. So not great photo's just pure comedy. Car Mastiff and a Mini I think it starts off with: (1) cool, car ride (2) I am sensing a slight problem (3) HELP!!

I did notice on your Flickr account that you can view all sizes on it. I am not sure if you care or not but you might want to change your setting so they cant grab it off your account. But sorry cant help on the watermark. Must be very frustrating.

Completely missed this - Rocco, i'm eyeing this one too Have you gotten it yet? No not yet, I will look at it later into next month. I think it will be a great lens to have though.

Ashanali I just love that photo with the little girl looking under the dress. Beautiful capture.

Thanks for your help guys. rubiton I was thinking it might help me to use M instead of using my camera P or A. I do feel the camera doesn't read the light that well at times. But I have some tips now. I was thinking of the Sekonic L358 but not for studio work and flash stuff. Thanks.

Thanks for your replies. I basically wanted one to understand light better. I see photographers popping them out and thought they might be a handy tool.
-
I have been looking into light meters. My understanding is they read the lighting and help you with the correct exposure. But how realistic are they? How many people use them and do you recommend them? Last question. What is the best ones to buy with a max budget of $400?

shape. 2 entries. This little spider had this great x shape on his web. But I kept forgetting to photograph him and when I went back he had spun a new web. I found his guy on my bag so took a snap of him. Something you leave behind.....

JAG and TerarNik you can eat cake. Maybe I should reword it as in "I" shouldn't eat cake. :D
-
Food. Ok, I was chatting to a friend today who with-out realizing gave me this idea. There is foods we all love but we know we should not eat. Edit as I like this one better.
-
I would prob go the heavier. What about a matt then a glossy?
-
Thats sounds like me. :D What wonderful photo's and lovely PP. You have a real talent.
-
Hope you managed to get it done. You have to love those tight deadlines. :D
-
Thanks Kja, means heaps coming from you. I guess my photography is def not for everyone. But provoking emotion is what I want to achieve with it. I forgot to add I just love the picture of the guy sitting in the snow. But then I like all your work. TerraNik love the "eye". It's wonderful.
-
Lea I love your "shapes". You can feel the clouds moving. Brilliant. CM fantastic "portrait". Well done it's beautiful. Dance. We went to a 40th dress up party. My sis went as a Gold Digger. Here is a dance series I like. It was only taken with a point and shoot thing, so not the best quality. Shadows. When I was young I use to be scared of the dark. I believed that there was evil witch that use to hover over me in my sleep and if I didn't cover my ears she would cut them off. So I thought I would recreate my fear of shadows. Secret. All my secrets.

Oops sorry Rugers. Now it totally makes sense to me in what you are trying to say. Sorry for going OT Kja. So what is the decision?
-
Rugers are you not happy with your D300? I thought the D90 would be heaps cheaper then saving for the D300.
-
I love that dance series. It's awesome.

Nikon is the new black and what all the cool kids use..... Canon is so last year. I heard the D60 is like the D40 and only takes the more expensive AF-S lenses if you want to use auto focus?? If this is the case I would buy the D80 or D90 so you can fit the AF lenses as well. Or just go the Canon if you are on a budget. Kja welcome back, love your work.
