I have been spending some time learning this 50mm inside out. It is a nice lens, but I do find the DOF a tad tricky with dogs noses and trying not to blur everything past the nose. I need to learn to use my feet more. Pretty happy with these two today.

Its all about working with textures. Ash explains it better then I could in this thread. Scroll down to her post about textures and good luck. Just experiment. Textures

He is such an angel and so easy going. I use a mixture of Photoshop and Lightroom to edit.

iltby great job with Y & U Cordella great stuff, I esp like V. Lea cool pig. I would love to photograph some pigs, I think they make such interesting subjects. Last letter and pretty lame I know. Y_ You're such a good boy. His little gourmet dog treat from the markets. ;)

CM. Thanks for your comments. A tad PP might of helped in greening up my grass.... ;) I like that pic of Jamie kicking up the grass. I also think all your photography is really wonderful.

  ....... me hopes you are out practicing with your new present ......
-
Lea you are doing so well with your photography. Really improving. G_Grass Y_102 Years old (I adore old people, I think they make the best subjects)

Bindi it's really great to see you experimenting with your PP. I would be interested to see your work with a actual DSLR. Ruth nice idea with W..... no escaping the golden arches though. Simple one but I really like this of Ralph. V_Schnitzel von Krumm I only had a small avenue of time to get this before he realised what was going on as he fell asleep on the exercise mat. I might have to re-visit this idea. K_Losing Kilo's.

Wagsalot what a cool cat. Love big boofy cats. Calvin is a great cat to photograph but I do find him alittle bit ugly. CM and Ruth you both need to do a trip my way and I will lend you Roc. Just bring a block of aged cheddar and bingo.....drool galore.... even bubbles and sometimes a cluster of them.

China is looking so gorgeous. Bron too.

My photo's are a bit uncreative and boring at the moment. I thought I would use this month for a technical practice of learning apertures, DOF and low light. B_Bug Catcher _ Playing around with low light settings. E_Eyes H_Handsome..... a tad bias I know. He was suppose to sit away from the window, but with The Roc you take what you can get.

Lea beautiful capture. C-Calvin Cat

50mm F/1.4 was my purchase. I was looking at the 85mm F1.4 and yes there is a huge difference from the 1.8. I also noticed a huge increase in the 1.4 in the last couple of weeks too. I would love to see some of your 85mm 1.8 if you are willing to share.
-
Yep instead of the 85. I will get both I think. I thought I would test the zoom having to use my feet and see if I like the idea. So far it's cool and seems to be a nice lens to practice my M setting with.

Bindi I like your texture. Ruth nice profile.
