I can contribute some movement. Went to a school fete (I think that's what you guys call them over here). Gone are the days of fudge and sack races. It was beer, latte's and mechanical rides. This pic made me laugh. You have the terrified child, strange guy at the top throwing them down and the un-expecting children to the left walking up for their turn.

I haven't used my 50mm for awhile since having the 85. But caught Ralph on his little Dashie sized deck chair today with it.

Congrat Lynai. Wowsa is just wonderful looking boy. Him and Brutus are the nicest looking Mastiff's I personaily have seen in awhile. Any news if the AI took on Xia yet?

Glad it wasn't just me. I googled his work after reading and thought it was boring. But I am sure his work appeals to some and he is very good technically and I enjoy his reviews.

Used Photoshop to black out the background and I think my ISO was 200 (well I generally always leave it on that, so pretty sure 200)

Can this count as freezing movement.......... Ralph yawning (I took it inside early morning so the room had very low light). :D Pretty lame I know!! I envy the people who have active dogs for this challenge and not ones you have to poke with a stick occasionally to check if he is still breathing.....

I have the D. They brought out the G a few weeks after I bought mine. I think if I had known about the new AF-S 50 I would of bought that. But then the D is still fast sharp lens. I couldn't tell you sorry if it is worth the extra $$$, I am sure it is and if you have the money go the G.

Congrats on your new to be lens DD. I am sure you will enjoy it. RD flickr is fantastic for looking at what lenses and cameras are capable of isn't it. I love that site and waste far too much time on it. I dont have enough lenese yet. I want so many more. so far I only have: 24-70 f/2.8 (I love this lens it is so a multi purpose lens) 50 f/1.4 85 f/1.4 Next will be a wide angle 14-24 f/2.8, but not for awhile.

Ash: I wonder in todays world of digital photograpy if alot of skill has been lost. Prob a few photographers out there that wouldn't know how to work a film camera.... ILTBY: Thanks, I am not really that proud of it. :D It was taken at a zoo so it was all a bit staged and had a terrible stadium setting behind it, so I had to take it out. RD: I love my new camera and full frame. I dont notice so much when I am shooting but when downloaded I notice such a difference in quality. It's just a nicer camera in low light situations. I also find I am getting a photo in the first few hits then taking 100. ETA: TerraNik the last pic is fantastic. Love it.

Ralph's not my dog, he's my sisters. I just borrow him for photo's. He's a special little guy to me too. ;)

Shooting weddings in film must of been a nightmare... :p I recently upgraded to a Nikon D700 from a D200. I love it, it's my next precious baby in my life after Roc.... ;)

Ash do you ever work with film any more? I would love to buy a old film camera one day and have a go. It might be an expensive lesson for me though. This challenge I wont participate unless I have something that fits, as I have another little project I want to start. But I will be watching this thread closely. I do enjoy seeing peoples work and ideas. These challenges have helped so many people improve, really fantastic. I went to the zoo in the weekend. Zoo's are not really my thing but I took a camera along anyway. I did manage to capture a parrot taking off.

Ash I love the one were you are looking back through the room. Great POV. Too cute.

Thanks guys I found it.

Could someone tell me an easy way to check shutter count? When I open a raw file in PS and the XMP file shows up on my desktop. When reading this is the "image number" the shutter count?

CM I am so glad I upgraded. If you do I think you will really notice a difference in your work. Crysti_Lei... he does resemble popeye. Caz thanks for your comment. He's so fun to photograph as well.

Gosh you can see his size in these. Why cant you live in Australia so we can all meet Wowsa. He's gorgeous.
-
Funny you should ask..... Not what I was after but I love it how the focus is on his eye and looking at me. I did catch one with the cheses just at the top of his mouth and all sharp, but havent processed it yet. I think it helped having a better camera as these were just a couple throws of cheese. Look forward to seeing your cheese throwing photo's Josie.

He is looking so gorgeous. He has never really gone gangly has he, stayed pretty solid.

it's only a little bit better then my D200.......

Yep selling up and moving over to Canon........ Nikon is sh!t!!! You didn't miss anything. If you remember a thread I was looking at a new lens? I decided to upgrade my camera instead. I loved my D200 great little thing, but just wanted something that worked better in low light. Got the D700.
-
Hey ILA. I did use a D200 and it's a great camera. If you need any help just flick me a PM, I might be able to help. I remember when I first got it and it was a bit overwhelming. Just a sneaky note: But I'm selling my D200 (body only) if anybody is interested. I haven't listed it anywhere yet, but will shortly.

I had to do a group shot of these Schnauzers. Afterwards I threw on my 50mm and did some very quick individual shots. I was wondering how photogenic a Schnauzer would be (I mean this in the nicest possible way as am not use to scruffy dogs). But every pic off my camera was useable, very photogenic dogs.

CM that is a wonderful effort. It harder then it actually sounds isnt it. Roc is pretty good at catching cheese, but I think that is because he has a little black scavange hanging around on the ground, waiting for scraps. no room for failure (for little legs he can move in on lost cheese FAST). Roc's eyes look weird but it's exactly what I want, just need to it all perfect and I want his head angled up more like Chester. rubiton, I think you are right it's not DOF but movement blur. I had it at f5.6 1/500 ISO640??? Too slow or me with camera shake? Kirislin feel free to give it a go. I will try again in the weekend once he has walked off his cheese.

Thanks for the advice guys. I cant relly use a tripod as Roc moves around a bit and jumps high. CM please go for your life and have a go. I am sure you will do a far better job then me. I didnt have time today to hit the best light of the day at 10. I tried about 4pm light, balancing on a chair, throwing cheese with a speedlite. This was the best effort but my DOF is out. I will try again another time, I cant keep throwing cheese at him for his health, so I only have a few shots at it at one time.
