  3. Sorry, thats what I was just saying in another thread We just returned from 4 weeks in Italy, France, Switzerland ... dogs were everywhere, and it is so normal, people don't even think about it .. never saw any problems, Actually, I saw people with their dogs, doing their shopping, in clothes shops, chemists, restaurants, just in their lives, and no issues it was great
  4. You were very lucky not to see any. Souff has walked through doggy minefields in the 2 cities you mention, though sometimes it drops into the gaps between the cobblestones. The worst places in Italian cities are in the smaller side streets where there are a lot of outdoor cafes at night ..... and at night you don't see it until you step in it ..... I wish more people could be responsible about their poo duties but they are not and some non-doggy people get really ticked off when they have to clean it off their shoes. Souff We must have been then Because hubby and I were so impressed, thinking, wow, all these dogs, and no dog poo anywhere, what a great advertisement for it. I actually saw heaps of them picking up the dog poo, We were there for 4 weeks as well, so lots of walking the streets, and seriously, didn't see it....
  5. Having just come back from Europe, I was delighted to see how many people have their dogs out in these major cities ie Rome and Paris, they are everywhere .... shops, restaurants, walking around the city. I was there for 4 weeks, and I never saw dog droppings on the street... It can be done... I know some people don't like dog friendly cafe's, so they don't have to go to them... it will sort itself out, but Australia, will make another bloody useless law
  6. Yes, I love when they howl My old dog used to do it whenever we sang Happy Birthday .... he would just howl along I have 3 dogs now, and have always wanted one of them to sing, and finally, my 8 year old maltese cross, will howl , and he really howls like a wolf at the moon, but only when my 19 year old daughters sings to him..... it cracks us up ..
  7. In my view it changed at about the time the do gooders started the "Can't discipline your children" routine. I can well remember before that occured that if an adult told you to jump you jumped. Now it seems if you are asked not to do something you just tell them to clear off (slightly different wording but you get the drift). Now I might be old fashioned but when I was growing up if I stepped out of line I got a belting from my father. After the first one he only had to threaten it. But you learnt to behave and respect others. To be honest now I look back and thank him for doing it. Oh Please, there have been shits of kids and bad parents for generations and generations
  8. How do you get from the above, that they have done sweet fa about it....???
  9. Clearly, this is a terrible situation. And I am of course, against all pets being sold in pet shops However, I am totally amazed at the condition of the kitten described. shocking, I have never seen them in that condition in a pet shop Well done for reporting
  10. Look, I have probably been considered a "time waster". Well I know I have. Some years ago, when my daughter was still young, we really wanted a St Bernard So I rang some breeders, and chatted. A lady told me I could have a pup from her next litter.... Yippeee..... excitement all around She sent me some literature, and I jumped on the net and the more I read and read... I thought we are not the right owners for this breed of dog So I rang her, and told her, still love them, but after reading all about them, we are not the right family She was PISSED.... probably thought I was a timewaster I actually think I was being responsible... Never mind
  11. I have a tibetan terrier, and he is the most beautiful boy He is really good with the obedience training, but can be stubborn sometimes. Great with kids, I find his coat easier than my shitzu, although he is groomed regularly. The only problem, he just goes beserk with cats. I don't know if this is a breed thing, or just a Raymond thing ..... good luck with whatever you decide. Here is a pikkie of him watching State of Origin last year
  12. Human welfare is everyones job. I don't care how much red tape there is in any situation, where there is any type of assistance or customer service required the person in charge has the ability to do th "RIGHT" thing. Where there is a will ther is a way!!Clearly judging by this particular article the right thing was not done. The courts imposed the penalty not the RSPCA. Whilst her intentions may have been good, the animals were being mistreated ... she would have been better to surrender them as hard as that is, but they deserved a better quality of life than she could give them ....
  13. One of my dogs, loves my and my daughtes undies, bras. When I go into the bathroom, to have a shower after work, he runs grabs them, when I throw them on the floor, and races out to the front door, and sits there proudly on the mat ....
  14. Honestly, I don't know what else the council could have done. I had a dog, who was the best escape artist known to man.... honestlyl, he was houdini. But put a collar on, with your mobile, this really works !!!! register, microchip. Why are you some of blaming the council. They have said the dog was there for 10 days. Wouldn't you go, back and back to check.
  15. My daughter picked up a dog last week, stuck in the middle of the road, trying to cross, kept nearly getting hit by car. She picked it up, brought her home. She was a beautiful girl, don't know what sort of dog, looked like a black westie (I know westie's aren't black), anyhow, she had no collar, took her to the vet, no chip, but covered in fleas, and her skin was really bad, My daughter took her and gave her a hydro bath, she said, 100's of fleas came off, and we fleaed her next day. We didn't know what to do with her, we ended up ring a Rescue place, and took her there. She was so beautiful.
  16. When I got my dog, a rescue, it was a council pound, they gave you some sort of voucher to get it desexed from a particular vet. But really, there was no follow up to see if you had it done, so seemed silly to me. But anyhow, I did get mine done
  17. I have been following and this thread each day. I am very sorry, that Reg didn't make it. All the best to you and his owner :D He was very lucky to have been so loved
  18. so they should. Same thing would happen here if a driver hit a loose dog and the car was damaged. Goodluck to her being incensed. I'm incensed that her frantic dog was at large on an autobahn. It could have been a hell of a lot worse. And also I do agree that the police weren't at fault ... just wanted to clarify that too :D
  19. I understand what you are all saying, however, sometimes, despite all best intents, dogs do get out. My old dog, was the best escape artist known..... Just when we thought we had it secured, he would find another way. So, I don't think because her dog escaped it necessarily means she didn't care for it, or hadn't made attempts to secure him.
  20. I have to say he did send me a picture on my phone when I was out .... "Saying, see babe, we don't need to get a pug, we have one"
  21. Went to the shops yesterday, husband, said, he was going to cut the dogs hair. We generally take the to the groomers, but hadn't been able to, due to holidays, etc, etc. We have 3 dogs, but he has turned the shitzu into a pug I said, well at least we know if we ever have to go into witness protection, we can bring Wally Wally before (albeit a little messier), Wally after
  22. Lo Pan, Whilst I see where you are coming from, about people jumping to label someone, but seriously anybody that has this level of violence in them, for a prolonged period of time, against a defenceless animal, child, another adult .... .... truly what do you call that, it is beyond human ... It is terrifying actually, to think, that it wasn't in a fit of rage, it was prolonged, and he changed the method of attack... seriously, he is a psychopath
