I have never heard of Goggles, but are you able to post a pic at all then it might be easier to see what it could be
-
I second that
-
Yep, pasta and rice are just fillers. No value in the diet. Try some lamb flaps with all of the fat left on them or put some puppy mince in instead of the roo meat

Maybe do a bit of research on the following breeds and see if they will suit you: Minauture Schnauzer Cavalier King Charles Spaniel King Charles Spaniel Pug Any of the long haired breeds I prefer to see 6 weekly preofessional grooming so if you are prepared for that plus weekly brushing youself then great. All dogs however, should have a good brush at least weekly to remove any loose hairs etc. Also, just keep in mind it will take quite a bit of time to toilet train and socialise puppy etc so you will be a busy beever for a while Good luck in finding a new addition ;)

Just a few questions: Will your dog be inside or outside ? How much grooming can you do ? Will your dog be trained any further than puppy school ? How much exercise will your dog receive ? This will help everyone give you some suitable suggestions

Which Grooming Brush Should I Use ?
BC replied to andoria2007's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
What the ?? OP was asking for what brush to use to get out undercoat, to which we replied they way we did as no brush I use is suitable for this breed IMO, so I suggested a metal comb. And you'll find this dog is not shown :p -
Which Grooming Brush Should I Use ?
BC replied to andoria2007's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I always use a fine toothed metal comb, but sounds as though he pretty much hates being brushed all together ?? If this is the case, try a zoom groom, which are the rubber massage brushes and see how he goes. I find they make a mess, but if it works great. Otherwise, I would just persevere and continue to brush with a comb, making it a nice experience so he learns to tollerate it I never let the dogs win -
Welcome and congrats on your new addition. Firstly, I will just give you a heads up on your breed of dog. It is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier (there is no such breed as an English Staffy) Not having a go but there may be some replies to your post in regards to this  In regards to food, I would take him off the Pal as this is a cheap commercial food that is full of water and will most likely go straight through your puppy, and will definately make your puppy fart  Do a seach on DOL for premium dry foods and you will get an idea of what there is out there. They are more expensive, but you actually feed quite a bit less than the cheaper foods as they include all of the nutrients etc that dogs require whereas the cheaper foods are full of fillers. Just a question, is puppy inside or outside ??? Staffords are a very people orientated dog and needs lots of human interaction. You did the right thing by ignoring the crying. It will continue for a while, but if you give in to the crying puppy will learn that every time he cries you get up, so will continue to do it. Just ignore it and puppy will settle down after a few nights. In regards to the jumping, the best thing to do is completely ignore the behaviour. If puppy jumps turn your back on it without saying a word. If puppy continues to jump, just keep turning your back. Puppy will soon realise than jumping means you ignore him and will stop, however, this will take a while as puppies will be puppies :D Hopefully you can teach your daughter this too as puppy needs to see your daughter as higher in the pack than itself, so she will need to learn to also show leadership Good luck and have fun with your puppy, please post some pics

Quite normal. Wobbly teeth make funny noises, and prob looks as though pup is chewing on something as it is swallowing the baby teeth as they come out  I love stepping on sharp puppy teeth on the floor  :D

When Do You Switch From Puppy Food To Adult Food?
BC replied to cassie's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Shilho is 12 weeks old and is already on a mixture of half puppy and half adult food. Once the bag of puppy runs out she will be on adult food  -
It's funny to watch though :D

I'm not sure whether its the same thing, but I call it 'burn outs' where the dogs scratch and kick up ground with all 4 feet ??? If it is the same thing, all of my dogs do this after they have done a poo, and it is to spread their scent so maybe puppy is telling everyone that it is her bone before she eats it ??
-
Thanks, thats what I was trying to say Yes there is a bit of bone, and I really like the bones on the flaps because they can actually be crunched up and eaten
-
Brisket is the part of the animal above the forearm, but on the chest sort of LOL And I thought the lamb flaps were the ribs

This is why I took Cooper off BARF. He was flat as a tack and for the life of me I could not find out what I was doing wrong. Everything was by the book and nothing I added worked, so he was put back on premium dry. I am interested to see what everyone suggests
-
How old is your pup ?? As long as it is not a fault that puppy has always had, I would take them off the puppy food and see if the legs start to correct themselves. You can put them back on puppy food if you like, to fill puppy out more once the growth spurt has finished. Others will have some more suggestions to try too
-
Most male puppies will not lift their legs, they actually squat like a girl to have a wee. Lifting their leg is something they learn as they get older. My boy did not do it until he was about 12 months old. I dont think you can train them to not lift their leg to wee, as this is what males do, but getting him desexed at 6 months, will reduce the need to mark everything with their scent, so less likely he will want to lift his leg on everything. In regards to not weeing inside, as long as you toilet train your puppy, he will not lift his leg inside
-
Dont come back inside with him until he has gone, even if that means you are outside waiting for half an hour :D Get a chair and a cuppa and wait Then praise like crazy when he does go !!
-
I agree, a very very fine toothed metal comb will do the trick. It's amazing the amount of hair I get off Labs and Rotties for example with the metal comb. It gets right down to the skin and removes 90% of the loose hair. There is also the option of a furminator, but IMO the comb works better and a furminator is very pricey.

Border On Lead Wants Too Play !
BC replied to DiscoBorder's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
You will need to keep the focus off the other dog before you even arrive at the house. You can either do this with food, or a toy (or whatever she is driven by), and keep her focused on the that, also would be handy if you could teach her a focus word at home such as "watch" so she will keep her focus on you when you ask. You can also practise this on the street and when she's doing pretty well see how it goes when you walk past this certain house. I would also take her walking by herself while you are training her to focus on something else. Can be very difficult with 2 dogs on the lead -
Yes, you will need to be very patient. Toilet training can take many months before you get a pretty trustworthy dog
-
Just a little unsure of what you mean here Meg ?? Do you want to know if you will have time during the day to train your dog even though you will be at school for certain hours ?? If so, sure there is heaps of time. With training at home I try and do only around 5 minutes per day, even less for a little puppy. They dont have a very long attention span and short bursts at a time is the best way, and then they dont become bored and switch off so to speak. In regards to actualy obedience classes, I'm sure there are weekend classes in the USA as there is here, and puppy schools either on the weekend or of an evening ?? Something for you to check out In regards to playing with the Corgi, just make sure you supervise very closely to see how each of them will react to each other, then continue to supervise play times. You will know if things are getting too rough and should be stopped

Did they give him an injection. I think sometimes that can have a little after effect
