This is very different when you have 2 pups though. They have each other to snuggle and be company. One pup will cry and/or bark as it has been seperated from its pack.
-
They both need "their" special time with you so I would start getting them used to that. I rarely take both dogs. I am a member of 2 clubs that train on different days so each go to a differnt club so 1 always stays at home, or if both do come 1 is with me and the other in the car. If there was ever any 'carry on' I would just pretend I could not hear it. Even some very well trained dogs are still vocal when left. My trainers UD dog barks when he sees her handling someone elses dog, only cos he is a keen worker and wants to have a go. JMO I would leave CK at home or in the car when training Xena and visa versa. Dont know if that is an option for you but they soon become a little more independent. Good luck

Dunno I would not see it a problem if you were not communicating with your mum in any way while she was in the ring or making any obvious movements the dog would pick up on. Everyone is allowed to watch. I have stood close to the rings before when watching a friend and I dont see it a problem at all. Double handling Who told you it could be double handling ?? An official or another competitor etc ?

Thankyou TB My cats are inside only too and I much prefer cat poo in the laundry where I can dispose of it easily, than all through the bloody garden or anyone elses.

How often is she weeing ? Pups or young dogs will often wee more than older dogs, hence having to take puppy out to the toilet every half hour I think she will grow out of it.

I would put some treats, or a small bones in there for him when you first put him in there, and then ignore it completely. Get some earplugs and pretend you cant hear him barking. He'll soon get over it and give up

I dont use slickers on labs. They're too hard and I find they dont get any hair out. I would go with a fine toothed metal comb. This gets rights down to the skin and really pulls those dead hairs out. Also a zoom groom, which has rubber bristles and the dead hair sticks to it, or a Furminator, which is very expensive, but well worth it for a lab. I find the comb does a great job though. Grooming takes patience and persistance on your part, and do not get angry, it will make it a bad experience for your dog. If you find yourself getting frustrated, leave it and go back later for another try. Good luck

No biting, snapping etc should be tolerated. You have a hard task ahead of you 2 very different puppies. My Foxy who is now 12 never snapped or anything so I do not have any experience in the recent years, but the lady who took me for puppy school with my other dogs, gently grabbed the snappy little JRT in class around the muzzell and said a firm NO every time he growled or tried to bite. They are not to bite. It may be cute now, but as they get older it gets more serious so do not tollerate it. This is for all dogs, not just JRT. Mayeb lay off on the treats and training until you have the biting/snapping a little more under control, just my opinion. As for chasing the cat. The first sign of my dogs doing this, they would be picked up, without saying anything, and put in "time out" for about 1 minute. Cant play nice, dont play at all. I make time out in the spare bathroom. Do not react to any crying, scratching etc, and when let out do not praise etc. Just act as if nothing has happened. You also may find you are doing this 5 times a day. Hopefully it will soon sink in that chasing the cat is not on. Good luck, you will need it,

As puppies mine were not to get on the bed or any furnitue for that matter at any stage. In saying that, now they are older and know their place, they can come up when invitied, but must get off as soon as I say so without any carry on

A nice big homemade mince pie with gravy (no onions of course) and a candle smack bang in the middle

If anyone on DOL is going I would love to meet you

I have the same problem. My OH is not really into the training of the dogs, thats all me, and 1 is trialling and 1 is in level 2. I am a member of 2 clubs, one trains at 1 club on Saturdays doing ring practise and the other trains in level 2 on Sundays at the other club. I also do private lessons on Fridays with the 1 i am trialling. I found this is the easiest to avoid conflicting class times.

I would just keep an eye on it. You said he is not rubbing ear on ground, but is he shaking his head alot or is his ear a bit sensitive to touch ?? If so it could be mites or something, but dont know without looking at it. If he continues to scatch in the next couple of days take him to the vets to get it checked.

Mine love cat poo, when they knock to baby gate down and get to it. I know they have eaten it cos they come out of the hallway chewing
-
Yep, mine creeps or wanders when he does not fully understand what I want or is stressed over something. As sas said, start again, and even try different hand signals maybe. All of my signals are with my left hand so I'm not twisting my body and its right in my dogs vision. My dog is also more comfortable with this too.

Teaching Your Dog The Military Flip When Heeling ?
BC replied to cramet's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I only do this turn as I think it looks less messy, but only when done properly. When about to turn left I have food in my left hand, push my hand back slightly and push my left shoulder back and your dog should back up and pivot on the spot. I think it is a good one if your dog tends to go wide around you in the left about turn. This stops them from doing that. I have used phone book aswell. Get your dog to put both front feet on phone book and pivot around just using his back legs. This makes the dog aware he has back legs and he can move around on them. (which my boy apparently did not know he had ) I also used this when training my dog to walk backwards. (I am assuming this is the turn you're all talking about. Without the dog walking around you when doing left about turn ?) -
Hi LP, I hold the food down at arms length and as he gets closer pull the food up higher, so it is at the tip of his nose when he is looking up at me. I had the same problem occasionally Just dont pull the food up too high as sometimes they will jump or sit on their back legs to try and get it. No problem now. I know how you feel when you see them charging towards you. A cricket box may come in handy when training :p

Ears do not need cleaning every 2 days. As suggested get some drops to clear up any infection, most likely mites. I only clean my dogs ears when they have a wash every 4-6 weeks, and only the ear flaps. I never stick my fingers right in to clean, I just clean what is visible and wiped easily. Sticking your fingers in can cause more damage.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought dogs were lactose intollerant and thats why the standard milk is not the best for them. If she loves her milk I would be buying the puppy milk from the supermarket, specially made for dogs, just to make sure no problems arise.

Yuk hey. My dogs have had the occasional scrap and one has had drainage tubes in his chest as the outlayer was ripped away. I then had to clean it every night and pull off any scabs that formed. (Lucky I'm a bit gross and dont mind doing that) Hope he is OK. Probably a bit sore a sorry for himself for a few days but he will be fine, but scary and not a nice thing to happen. Mine did not stop when I wet them with the hose, so now I have a bit of cut off hose. I take this for walks with me in case something happens and if mine decide to have a barney again, they will be getting whacked with that.

little buggers It should just pass through, but as Garloch said, keep an eye on him and make sure he is actually going to the toilet. Also, change the toys you are giving him. Try a kong or something similar he cannot rip into bits. I know mine have done this before after there was bits of fluro orange lobster toy in their poo No more Lobster toys for them

Deleted....didnt read original post properly :D

Just to add, you need to get another puppy because you want to, not just to keep your current puppy company. IMO I would wait a while, as The Spotted Devil said, to bond with this puppy, and train it etc, and then if you would still like another dog down the track look at it then. It needs to fit in with the dynamics of thte household too. Then again, this is not to stop you from getting another puppy. You may feel it is the right time but both puppies will need one on one time with you without the other one. Good luck :D

Extra Virgin Olive Oil is part of the BARF diet so it wont hurt them. But for your piece of mind no harm in calling the vets.
