  1. Good luck Rachelle and I hope you have luck with little Libby Aslo, Kathleen did a great job on Saturday !!!!
  2. I purchase diced and minced beef from Mega Pet Warehouse for around $3 per kilo. Got little bits of fat in it, but nothing like pet grade meat from supermarket or butchers.
  3. When Cooper had an ear infection he would take off when he saw the bottle and try every avoidance trick in the book, but I would just call him back and he would sit and deal with it But, I use baby wipes for general cleaning, just wiping the inside of the ear flap and around the start of the ear canal. Most dog I find enjoy this
  4. Yep, raw eggs are good for skin and coat. Mine get one each once a week with crushed shell and all mixed into their normal meals.
  5. Yep, I think the same. When Cooper jumps and swivels into position while in the air I call a flip, and if he just walks to the left of me I just call a left finish. Depending on how enthusiastic he is on the day, as to what he will do, but he always goes to the left.
  6. Are you sure they're just not puppy playing/wrestling ??? 5-10 minutes is a long time for a fight. Sometimes playing and wrestling can sound awful, and get pretty rough. I cant imagine a fight with a 10 week old puppy. Just double checking prior to offering advise
  7. Cooper gets a little leap in the air happening sometimes. I actually like it, but only when he lands in the right position Working on that though. He was also so bit of a gawker on the other finish, which he will still happily do, but the flip works better with Cooper. Some dogs hoever, do a brilliant right finish, so it's all trial and error and working out what is better for your dog.
  8. I do the left finish. I think it looks better and stops the dog from gawking when walking behind you. Easy to teach with a piece of food. I use the word "left" and with the food in your left hand, wrap it around your left leg, right behind your bum, and then when your dog has its nose near your left bum cheek, take the food back towards the front also tight to your left leg then tell the dog to sit.
  9. We got a pass in the morning and highest scoring Werribee member in Novice but bombed out in the afternoon. It was pretty hot in the afternoon though I find with Cooper, not to spend a whole heap of time with him prior to entering the ring. That way he is more keen to be with me and works a bit better. He is crated until 2 dogs prior then I'll take him for a quick wee, and bit of focus, then in the ring. Also, no matter how you train, you are different in the ring. Nerves take over and you're more "serious" which the dog can pick up on. In training we often talk a lot to our dogs, and are able to correct them when in the wrong position. The dogs definately pick up on your change, even if very slight, and this will make them behave in a different manner. I try and do heaps of ring training with Cooper and limit my corrections whilst ring training. The things I need to work on I tend to do them either at home, or somewhere else as a seperate training session, not combined with ring practise. That way he knows what the ring is about, and is more used to the serious side and not being spoken to whilst in the ring. In between excersises though, I make it a big deal and big plays and praise so there is still that element of fun to being in the ring. Wylie, I'm know Yildiz did well with quite a few awards, but not sure about what passes etc were gained and with which dogs.
  10. I wont just wash a dog. My standard service is: Pre brush Wash Blow Dry Nails clipped if needed Ears cleaned Cologne Labrador for example $35.00, but this differs depending on the breed of dog.
  11. This is an example for you, but Cooper is around 24 - 25kg and I feed him 3/4 cup of dry per day plus a little bit of raw meat. Vinnie is around 17 - 18kg and gets 1/2 of a cup plus raw meat. Every couple of days they also get a lambs flap or neck in the morning. These days I will only feed them the dry with no raw meat at their evening meal time. If they get other bits and pieces during the day I will reduce their food at meal times, or not feed them an actual meal at all that day. I try to keep my dogs lean though ;) and they only have 1 hard poo every morning. Cooper will only poo again during the day on training days which is more marking than needing an actual poo. This is just an example for you only !!
  12. Yep fair point. I didn't even read your other posts until not long ago Any fresh food etc is better than the Chum crap, but once you get back and organised you can then really get into it, and espeically in your situation, a correct BARF diet could do wonders. Good luck !!!!
  13. I cant comment on how you went as you still need to research this. You will need to lean more towards green leafy veges and fruit, and do not chop them up and put them in the bowl. Defeats the purpose. You need to feed the chopped fruit and veg through a juicer. This is an example of what my dogs would get: Morning - 1 lambs flap, lambs neck or chicken carcass (the dogs must eat the bone or there is no point to the diet) Dinner - raw mince or offal with spinach, apple, pears, carrots, celery, silverbeet (along those lines but different depending on what was on sale etc) I would also supplement this with either an egg, sardines, flaxseed oil, extra virgin oil, cod liver oil all in different measurements and on different nights depending on what was needed in the diet how many times a week. As poodlefan said, it is not rocket science once you have researched and know what nights your dog need xyz, but there is no benefit to your dog and your dog will suffer unless it is done correctly.
  14. Yep me too. I did heaps of research on it. Everyone is different but if I'm going to do something it is done spot on, and more so when it comes to such a change in my dogs diet
  15. I would suggest reading Billinghursts "Give your dog a bone" prior to any diet change. If you are wanting to move to a completely raw diet with no kibble, you will need to do your research. Its not just a matter of chucking in any foods as supplements will need to be added etc and you need to know what vitamins/minerals etc are in the diff foods and how often your dogs need these. There is also the option of Barf patties that has been suggested. IMO do you research first
  16. My BC has a nice bed etc for him, but chooses to sleep on the tiles in the ensuit. He gets hot with all of that hair and that is the coolest place for him and I think this is your case being in the Kimberely. Your dog is just lying in the coolest spot. Wont do any harm. Heaps of newfie hair there for padding
  17. Same here. They dont rust if you oil them regularly, which I do every morning.
  18. Thanks - I use Nutro at the moment, but for some reason our dog has decided that she no longer likes it. A friend says her dog loves it but I wasn't sure what the quality was like? I would stick with Nutro. Just mix something in with it such as a little bit of cottage cheese, small bit of mince, or even just some warm water and they normally devour it.
  19. Gives my dogs the runs, but there are some dogs that do well on it.
  20. Yep, I'm stuck to. It is frustrating when I see it on a dog and cant get rid of it. I have a friend trying out Sard Wonder Soap so I will let you know if this reduces the staining.
  21. Must admit, I'm a bacon fat feeder on the rare occasion we have bacon and eggs. It is occasional though so I dont have a problem. Avoid it on a regular basis though.
  22. As posted, does anyone have any ideas on how to remove those pinkish stains caused by dogs licking themselves ?
