Yep, as said, I think you are overfeeding her. Cooper is 23-25kg and gets 3/4 cup of dry food with a small amount of raw meat once daily. Lamb flaps or chicken frames are given every 2 days in which he gets no raw meat with his dry. He eats every single biscuit and still scrounges around for more, but doesn't get any I like my dogs lean, and I believe a hungry dog is a healthy dog.

I charge per job, not per hour. Standard groom out, wash, dry, nails, ears, colgne etc on a lab for example is $35.00 and takes around 45 minutes. If it is for a husky, malamute etc it is $50.00 and higher again for Samoyed etc as these breeds take aroudn 1.5 hours. For a standard maltese/shih tzu so including the above and clipping, regardless of condition is $55 to $60 and takes around 1.15 hours, poodles are around $65.00 as they take longer and up to around $100 to $120 for goldens, groodles etc. I charge the same regardless of condition, so regular clients are good jobs as you can make good money as you know the dog and their condition is always good. Occasionally I feel I haven't charged enough for a really bad dog, but I dont mind as I make up the money with the regular clients.

OH does ours every couple of days. The dogs only poo once a day and it is hard due to their diet. He picks it up with one of the clamps you pick up tools with so no bending down and getting your body near it. Goes in a bag and in the bin

Didn't mean for you to take offence Just trying to assist you by letting you know that not many groomers would be skilled in grooming a Puli, hence why I said contact any breeders to see if they can help you out by grooming her or if they know of any groomers. However, if you chose not to take my advise, just ignore my post.
-
Hmmm, you will be pushing it there. Have you been advised on how to groom her ? You have a high maintenance breed so you need to find the energy to do it. If you are not aware of their grooming needs contact the breeder, or see if you can find a breeder around Brisbane to see if they can groom her for you. Good luck

I think possibly some Ridgeback or Mastiff. If there is any cattle there is not much at all !!

Ok, grooming, as Christina said, soft slicker brush and metal comb. Get puppy used to grooming from day dot, brushing with slicker, and then combing down to the skin with the comb, ensuring there are not knots. As puppy coat matures, grooming will become more demanding and it will need to be done every second day at least. 6 weekly grooming visits to a professional groomer is a must too, unless you are going to do quite a bit yourself. Crating: the size will depend on the the size of poodle you have. Toy, mini or standard. Also, leaving the crate in the laundry etc in defeating the purpose. Crating is not only for toilet training, but it becomes a safe place for your dog to be should it need to be confined etc. It helps with toilet training as dogs normally dont toilet where they sleep so if you make it a nice sleeping place for her, she will let you know if she needs to go to the toilet. If you then take her outside she knows that is where she must go. I think sometimes with newspaper and toilet pads they can confuse the dog. It gives them an option of going inside, which means they will most likely continue doing it inside. Start taking her to the toilet where you always want her to go, which I am assuming is outside Dont bother with kennel. If she is going to be an inside dog and outside when you are, she wont even use it. You can just get a good snooza or hessian bed and as long as it under cover that will be fine for outside. Good luck with puppy

Furminators look like a very very fine clipper blade (clipper blad actually does the same thing but without the handle) Also, this might sound stupid, but a hack saw blade works wonders too. However, I would never use one on a clients dog I find furminators work best on short haired to medium length breeds such as fox terrier, boxers to rottys, labs and heelers.

You can use tools to reduce the amount of hair she is shedding, but you will never completely stop the shedding or get all of the hair out, just manage it better with grooming.
-
This is hard to stop as it is self rewarding for the dog. Do a search on the topic as there has been many discussions on techniques to stop this, but personally I would just hang the washing somewhere else.

I love training, its heaps of fun. Why cant Coolies compete in obedience trials ? There are heaps of x breeds doing obedience trials here in vic, even some with OC titles etc. They are just registered with the VCA as an associate.

If the dreaming seems more like seizures, just rule epilepsie out !!! Cooper often growles, very loudly in his sleep, and was running last night. I was being kicked by all 4 legs while he was asleep. Have a great old run he was

Possibly an ear infection, and I noticed you said you rinsed his ear ?? If an infection his ears will be more redish colour than normal, they should be a very pale pink. Unless you block off the ear canal water in a dogs ear can cause infection. If you must wash them with the rest of his body block off the ear canal with by pushing the ear flap down tight and washing the ear. In the future just use baby wipes or cotton balls or something in warm water to wipe them out
-
Hmmm, I'm stumped too. I've never had a dog with ear issues, only if there is an infection which is not the case with you. I'll be interested to hear anyones responses. Try when Cavandra said and do little bits each day. Also, I know what you mean by some salons Some are too harsh when there is no need to be.
-
How are you plucking the ears, with your fingers, haemostats ?? Also, are you just plucking from the ear canal, and not the hair around the outside of the ear ? You will find she does not like it most likely cos it hurt her at some stage and now she wont have a bar of it. You will need to get her used to having her ears touched again. Just start slowly patting and touching her ears when shes lying down etc. Keep desensitizing until she is calm then try gently plucking again. Is there a partucular reason you wont take her to a salon ? Are you going to do all of her grooming yourself ? Only asking cos dogs act differently when around other people and out of their home environment. I get some dogs who are an abolute nightmare for their owners, but are perfectly behaved for me. Just read your post again, this is your dog isn't it ??

;) :p OMG, so does Vinnie if he gets hold of them. Occasionally there is a poo with a bright orange earplug in the middle.

A lean BC is best. No fatty's please. Cooper gets 3/4 cup of Advance turkey and rice for coat growth with a small amount of raw diced beef of an evening, and either a chicken frame or half a lambs flap every morning. Cooper is a big BC, being 25 inches at withers, and around 23-24 kg. If your BC is smaller, obviously feed a smaller amount.

:D :D :D Over it !!!!!

Suggestions For Dry Food Are Required Please
BC replied to Norskgra's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I cant really help you with dry food, but the "puppy meat/mince" from a good pet store is much higher in fat than the diced beef and chicken minces etc. -
With black/dark nails, clip small bits off at a time. Look under the nails where you have clipped, and when you see a very fine white calcium ring, stop there.
-
I have clipped one before but I dont recommend it. Its coat was just a massive lump and the owner definately wanted it clipped so I did it. Looked quite cute after it, but definately not good for the dogs coat.

To the OP - remove any knots otherwise they will just get worse. Try and slice them out with scissors from behind the ears. The other knots around the bum etc should brush out as the hair is a different texture. If not, just slice them out too and then keep a good weekly grooming routine. Reddii - Generally long haired dogs are clipped from the navel through to the groin, and the armpits seperately, which you can do, but I would not see any point in it. Dogs cool down by panting and through their paws, so if you keep a good grooming routine and remove any loose undercoat and leave plenty of water, such as a wading pool and shade, your BC will be fine. Cooper sleeps inside all day on the stinking hot days.
-
Yep, mine do great on what they get. Lambs flap or chicken frame every 1-2 days Advance dry food with small amount of raw meat Sardines and egg once a week mixed in
-
No no no. Would flat out refuse to do it. Of course explain why, and tell them to brush their dog with a comb as a slicker will not do the job on a lab at all. Also as suggested a wading pool.

Give it a couple of days
