  1. I don't know if it's true, but someone told me that huntsmen drop down off the roof so being up high doesn't mean you're safe I can't stand having a spider up above my head after being told that (I vacuum them up too!) yes. Yes they do.
  2. That depends on who is in the shower at the time.
  3. Okay... in all seriousness, that won't be the topic... but you can feel free to somehow work it into the challenge if you want (please Bec) :D
  4. How did you guess? Oh man, I don't think I should take part. My husband's a sasquatch! Fun comes in many forms
  5. Tess... you probably know what I'm thinking right about now...
  6. Mandalay - I've been working hard in our business all year so have probably only been to about 10 shows all up in 2009. Last shows were in late August. Shelbyville - I'm okay with packing the car/trailer and setting up at shows. Even happy to set up tents. However I do loathe the unpacking at the other end.
  7. Just a head's up! December is going to be fun fun fun!
  8. I have it all on my computer. I just need to print them...
  9. As a wedding photographer and having been to too many weddings to count, some with dogs and some without, ONLY include the dogs if you have someone willing to be responsible for them the entire time. You, your bridal party and family will have alot on your hands and won't be able to do all that much with the dogs - as much as you think you will, you won't. I can guarantee this with absolute certainty. Also if you can find someone who is happy to take responsibility for them, you will only need them for a few photos. The photographers isn't going to have the dogs in every single photo they take so include the dogs in some photos for about the first 15 minutes, then have the person who is responsible take them home (just be sure to inform your photographer that they are only there for a few minutes for photos so they know to take the shots first up). It means that they don't have to be there as long, they are included in your day, you will have nice photos and you know that they are going to be more comfortable at home rather than following you around for your entire photoshoot in the middle of December.
  10. That is almost incentive Gundoglover - I would LOVE online entries. Very few shows here have them though. It is my dream that all shows are able to be entered online. *any club people reading this, please take note - people love their internet for placing their entries!!!*
  11. Wow! So you mean I'll actually get something this year!?!
  12. There are more, but Alison shows even less than I do. Kayo is OBESE at the moment. I'm talking proportions of which I have never seen on a Pointer before. She's the biggest pig I've ever had with food and even though she's eating half the amount the others are getting, she just keeps gaining the weight. She's a shocker
  13. The stuff works and spreads by muscle movement. If his coat isn't too thick it can still penetrate and spread over the body - in which case I'd wait out the month. Alternatively, wait a week and do a thorough check of the dog and see if you can see any live fleas on him. If you can see lots of live fleas, it hasn't worked so treat again.
  14. I bought a new show suit when I was in Melbourne. I was hoping that would help. It's really really nice and more money then I've ever spent on show clothes. Nope... it's been two months and I still haven't entered a show. I bought a trailer (as Poocow said) and I've only been to two shows since then. I just REALLY hate doing entries. REALLY REALLY hate it. ETA: Yes, I've used the word, "really" alot.
  15. For the last couple of months I keep telling myself I need to enter shows. I have a cheque book right in front of me, the dog magazines next to me, I have entry forms on the computer I just need to print them, envelopes are to the right of me. I honestly just can't get motivated to go through it all and put it together and send off entries. I like shows, I like heading out with my dogs, it's just doing the entries that I hate. So someone try and motivate me. I need a little
  16. I think this photo would ruin her reputation for being a cold hard bitch
  17. the bolded part contradicts another person earlier in the thread who said that they know the family and the dog was eating.
  18. I've seen plenty of shaved cockers that have successfully grown their coat back. But yes, it takes work. (and there are many people who just give up and say it can't be done.) Back a few years ago you would use stripper blades, a shiropodist stone (or whatever they're called) and superfine combs. Nowadays we have Mars Coat Kings and they are worth every cent! You need to keep on top of it weekly and use the coat king correctly, you need to keep the coat well conditioned to stop it from getting brittle and breaking off before it gets some length. You also will need to give your pup a general brush daily even with the short coat. It's a good habit to start anyway. At 8 months old you have more of a chance of catching it due to the fact your pup will be 'changing' to an adult coat soon anyway. Just keep on top of it (and find another groomer for the future.) I might own pointers now but I was born and raised with cockers and definitely know what to do when I groom them.
