I received my first photos in 5 years of a dog that I bred and I was STOKED! It allows the breeder to not only assess the dog, but also assess if they made the right choice for the home. The photos I received of Floyd showed that he is well loved and a part of the family. It's all I wanted to know. It took me sending a few pleasant messages through facebook over about 6 months for the owner to post photos but that is all I wanted. I can be happy if I don't hear from them for another 5 years. (and the owner was actually thrilled to see that I was happy with the photos.) Point is, if you send of a quick email and photos, the breeder will most likely stop emailing you and asking

Three is a little hard as I have lots of favourites... so instead I'll post my three award winners (it's the easy way out )

it's a fun time waster... good timing for posting it though, Alex went on his first fashion shoot yesterday so we had some perfect photos to play with...

And I'd just skip Olympus altogether Don't get me wrong, they are GREAT cameras for people who are hobbyists/shooting for fun (so there is no problem with the OP getting one if that's what they want and what they feel comfortable with), but when people step up to the more 'serious' stuff, Canon and Nikon are leading the way and there is sooo much more gear out there that is compatible for them than other brands. If you want more than that, was start talking Hassleblad with digtial backs... *drool* But I don't think we need to go there.

I'm friends with Matt Ebenezer who was voted one of the top 25 videographers in the world by some US magazine. He spent a fortune setting up his studio with top of the line video gear. Since he bought his 5D mark II, he hasn't touched a single video camera preferring to shoot all video footage on the 5D mark II because it's a true HD with 30FPS and the use of specific lenses gives it cinematic quality. (He prefers to use an adaptor and Nikon lenses as they have smoother zoom functions than Canon lenses). He now uses the 7D and loves the video quality on that also (he's stopped shooting video very recently though, preferring to shoot stills with his wife. ) We shot video at one of our last weddings - we are NOT videographers, it was all handheld (no steadicam) and the quality is still incredible. The one downside is that because the 5D mark II captures 30FPS, unless you are editing on a mac OR on an extremely high speed PC, the video can appear jumpy. The default is 27FPS (or something close to that). Personally, I like the 'jumpy' video as it reminds me of old 'super 8' footage. ETA: Shell covered some of this in here post and she has correct FPS rates too Also ETA: DMA - you ave come across as a little rude in your posts and it looks like you're backpeddling. I have shot professionally on film and on digital and what we go through to get a shot on either format isn't disimilar. I do as little in camera editing as I can as I would rather have that control on my computer (so there is no 'programming' here). Giving a 5D to a photography noob is like giving a mac truck to a learner driver - they might know the basics but there is no hope in hell that they can master it without a crapload of time, effort and education.

I had dogs that would pick them before they ripened. Agree with Kirty; don't encourage it but don't be alarmed. Keep an eye on things to ensure there aren't obstructions.

Can someone please help out this lady in this thread. She'd like a sig. http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=184158

Yes, she resorts to smacking her kids before the dogs do.

Did you read my post where I said my son was bitten on the face when he fell onto a sleeping dog? The dog ended up being one of the most incredibly patient and loving dogs I've ever owned. Loved loved LOVED the kids and would never intentionally hurt them. The incident was the only time he ever lashed out at one of the kids. You have no idea what your dog would do until it happened.

I posted some photos I took to flickr and another friend who is a photographer wrote to me and said that she can see the difference between when I shoot on the 40D and the 5D even without looking at the exif data. I used to think people who said stuff like this were full of it (particularly since I LOVE the 40D - still do) but there really is a difference in the quality when it's teamed with good glass. I get great shots with good glass and a 40D, I get awesome shots with good glass and the 5D.

http://www.kayellaustralia.com.au/photosite/ $225 for the weekend from Kayell.

Tess, you can hire a body for a weekend for around $250. Either that or I can introduce you to someone down there who might loan you one for a day... but I'd look at hiring one first.

As I said, not directed at you and not being nasty, I was simply taking an opportunity. There is no need to feel like crap.

Yes, you want a 5D mark II There are few things I hate about it, but every time I use it I remember why we were happy to part with the money. For you particularly, the full frame and the file size alone would make it worthwhile. You are able to crop in far more than you can on the 50D and maintain a very high quality file. It also has smoother gradients from light to dark (when images are correctly exposed, of course). Yes yes yes. The cons to the camera - the focus sucks. Centrepoint focus is the only 100% reliable point. Some of the other points just won't work from time to time but if the camera is struggling to focus, knock it back to the centre and you will pin point your spot perfectly. It has crap colour but a few tweaks in camera with a customised profile are all it needs. If you don't tweak, you end up with blue in the shadows and horrific chromatic aboration. I am still saying 'yes' though. Shot with it again today and still very happy. Craps all over the 30D and 40D (and also the 50D).

Dog should be fine without the toe as long as you don't compete on hard surfaces. Sunni still runs around like a maniac and jumps like an idiot. It's only when she belts the pavement that she has issues with lameness. I would have no qualms doing obedience or agility with her (if I wanted to), I just wouldn't be going for any endurance titles.

Ripley - new business is starting soon will include workshops for everyone and intensive mentoring for photographers starting out in the business. More work!

I would highly recommend the topical application of medicinal grade Manuka honey for this wound. Howard had a very similar one earlier in the year. Along with a course of prescription ABs I applied honey twice a day to the wound. It healed really well - no scarring. The honey will form a protective covering, preventing scabbing. It's great stuff. Howard learned to love the treatment - he got to lick the excess honey off my fingers! Thanks for that. Will grab some and give it a try.

We only had a hole when it festered but we still drained it daily with peroxide because it still attacks the bacteria & brings it to a head & above ensured it stayed clean as it was on the foot Sorry to hijack, but do you think this would work on a dog's muzzle? Sunni has a puncture wound on the top of her nose and it hasn't healed since August. She's been on AB's had it cleaned out but it still fills with pus and scabs over each day. Would the peroxide be too much on such a sensitive area as her nose? Now back on topic - IF they end up having to remove the toe, please ensure that the other toes are strapped for a fair amount of time until they get used to the change in structure. Sunni has only three toes on one of her feet and she ended up a mess for a while and there was talk of having to remove a second toe due to a bone infection. Luckily the extra strong AB's kicked in and she has been fine ever since but her other toe is now essentially useless and the bone inside it is dead (no point removing it now apparently). And just to give you hope, Sunni is still in the show ring and has her title. No lameness unless she spends too long running around on hard surfaces.

He doesn't have to swim. We can have buckets of water... they get thrown on, then they get shaken off. This includes you also Should be fun! :D

This is a 2 man job. I have tried so many times. I need to find a volunteer willing to get wet too. I am thinking about getting him a clam pool. Of course I am delusional if I think he will use it, but it can be added to all the other useless things I have bought him over the years, you can never have enough of those. When we do our photoshoot at the end of the month. I have just had a brainstorm for the very last photo that we will take. Are you prepared to get wet because I'm fine with it and I know Alex will be also
