Breeder Wanting Puppy Back For Future Litters
Ashanali replied to westozmike's topic in General Dog Discussion
My sister will do these deals occasionally. The people pay the full price up front but they have the purchase cost refunded OR they can have a puppy when they return for a litter. I don't know the ins and outs, I've never sat down and gone through it with her but it seems to work for her. Just make sure that if you decide to go ahead with it, you have EVERYTHING in very detailed writing. -

Things My Breeder Should Have Told Me About Vets !
Ashanali replied to Fordogs's topic in Breeders Community
Conversation from when I was forced to go to a vet I don't usually go to (public holiday). "Is she desexed" "She's a show dog and my brood bitch" "So is she desexed?" Hmm... so what part of 'brood bitch' didn't they understand? -
I had the care of my sister's goldie litter a few years ago. My pointer girl decided the GR mum wasn't doing a good job and she took over the litter... she was right. The GR was a horrible mother. I also had a litter that was cleaned and toileted by a six month old male puppy who would jump in the box with the mum of the pups there and just start cleaning them. When he was finished he'd jump out again. That was about 5 years ago. The photos are somewhere in DOL archives by now. Great photo

Lovely shot but I think its actually a conifer, looks very similar to the one in the front yard down the road .... Yep... it's a conifer. Lots of childhood memories of these and the smell came straight back to me too. mmmmmm. -
Around 5 weeks Pointers start to be noticeable in whelp. Sunni was RUBOB at a royal when 5 weeks in whelp. (didn't bother taking her back for specials... she was too big by then. Lucky she wasn't needed. She ended up having 8 huge pups)

All you need to do is write, "PROOF ONLY - photo by Shell" or something like that. It doesn't need to be fancy. -
Hey Rocco - before you buy a Metz, let me know what you're interested in and I'll get a price for you... I have contacts for Metz stuff.

I'm back! I have just had to quickly scroll through nearly SIXTY pages of work!!! Well done to everyone who is taking part and getting out there to shoot. That is a brilliant effort and I know we are going to crack 100 pages for sure For those who are only new to the challenges, I'm sure you've noticed the new subforum for the monthly challenges. If you have a little wander through previous months, you will find a bit of information about shooting on aperture mode, shutter priority and also on manual if you're wanting to attempt to move away from shooting on AUTO or Program modes. I also plan on revisiting these subects over the coming months challenges so be sure to stick with us and give the next few months a go. Loving the work here everyone. Keep posting ;) -
Slightly off topic to kja - it might be my monitor that needs to be recalibrated but your edits look REALLY contrasty at this end. Just thought I'd mention it incase it isn't my monitor and you may want to check the calibration on yours just to double check. (I'll be recalibrating tomorrow so it likely is me. )

Wow, this thread is cracking!!! I'm very impressed with the diversity in here. I have yet to pick up a camera but I've decided to make a personal challenge for myself. Apart from days when I'm working, I am going to aim to take every photo using my iphone and see how creative I can get. I am thinking it will produce some awful but interesting results. ALSO - if you haven't noticed, Troy has started a new subform for the photos challenges. All the past challenges will be put in there as a useful reference point for people to go to if they need it. So if this thread goes walkies soon, you will know where it is. THANKS TROY -

They are all taken on location but some of them I've used natural light, some have video light and others have off camera flash (flash not attached to the camera - Rocco was holding it for me) The texture that is on some of them is added in post production. Theres a thread about textures somewhere, I'll see if I can dig it up later. -
I don't stay next to the box... they are within ear shot but I don't 'hover'. Never lost a pup to squashing. ETA: I have Pointers

Which Lens Should I Get.......canon Eos 40d
Ashanali replied to colliehound's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
You could also look at a 50mm lens. The Canon 50mm 1.8 is called 'the nifty 50' and retails for around $190 The Canon 50mm 1.4 is a nicer and more robust lens and retails for around $500 (or so) -

I know this is actually Decemeber, but Rocco and I went on a special photo shoot yesterday. My brother and my sister in law are expecting a baby very soon, these are from their maternity shoot: (and Rocco, this means that you have to post one of your photos too ) ETA: btw - this is special because this is my baby brother and he's also my favourite sibling. I can't wait to meet their little one. I'm also photographing the birth. There are more on my flickr -

Ally Harrison are already stretched onto frames Bruce Peebles are sent rolled. The story about the photographer in Newcastle is a little detailed. Bruce Peebles is based in Brisbane. The photographer used to get him to print the canvases then send them to Abel Framing (also in Brisbane - they are very good), then they would be sent to Newcastle. She decided to save on freight costs she would source a framer down there. She has been using her framer for a while now without any issues but in the lead up to christmas, she sent off a whole lot of canvasses to be mounted. After five weeks she contacted the framer who said they weren't done (5 weeks?!?) and they would get onto it asap. When she went to pick them up, the were on one inch frames not the usual 2 1/2 inch. These were LARGE canvases that needed to be over the stronger frame. As a result, the frames were already starting to warp at the time the photographer picked them up. She questioned why they were on 1 inch frames and the framer responded with, "We didn't have any left so we used the 1 inch frames. We didn't think you'd mind". The photographer also pointed out a couple of scratches on the canvases and the framer said, "yeah, but the client won't notice". This photographer isn't cheap. The canvases would easily be sold for about $1000 each (at least). A client spending that much money WILL notice scratches. Due to the nature of mounting the canvases, they can't be taken off one frame and put onto another. They all need to be reprinted. The framer is still refusing to pay for the reprints. All the framer had to do was call the photographer and explain the situation in regards to not having the right size frames available. It's poor form to do the wrong thing, destroy the canvases and then refuse to take responsibility. Photographer has said that she will go back to the old way of doing things and have them mounted by the Brisbane framers that she trusts.
