  1. Pers - Sally was talking about taking her out for a walk. She knows she can have zoomies in the yard, just not out of the yard incase some nasties like parvo are picked up and brought back on a walk.
  2. Boy or girl? Enjoy every minute of it! They are unbelievably cute when they are puppies. theres 2 boys and one girl. we'll decide when we see them. Well get a girl and do non fix her - we can get some puppies later ))) Hi Margaretka and welcome to the forum. I suggest you hang around DOL and do a WHOLE lot more reading before you decide if this is the path you want to go down. There are some very knowledgeable people here who can help you and guide you with the right way of doing things.
  3. http://digital-photography-school.com/10-d...23ixzz0hADE4NOp All very true (and I have been guilty)
  4. I was just about to say you are missing the quick release base plate but you've figured it out.
  5. I'll facebook Sally and ask her to pop back in here.
  6. That is exactly what the challenge is all about!
  7. As thin as she is, her coat actually looks to be in great condition. It looks like she's a tough girl with alot of fight. I hope she survives. Poor thing.
  8. Rozzie - that's right Nice shot and you have actually started off on what would be considered the most difficult crop... a vertical panorama.
  9. I wanted to join this months challenge but I really don't understand what it is we are doing? I'm new to photography and am learning fast but I'm not sure about this. I have a Olympus point and shoot. So do I just take a pic and then crop it to a certain size? yep
  10. dammit - I keep forgetting the point & shoot people. Thought I would add - if you decide to print 'cropped' images, the best thing to do is put them on a white background that is the right size for printing. eg- you want a print that is 8x8inches in size, you need to drop the image onto a background that is 8x10 or 8x12 inches before taking it to a mini-lab for printing. The machines don't recognise 'odd' sized images.
  11. Hey Sally, I'm back from Newcastle now. I told Sally to join here because I was away over the weekend and couldn't go too in-depth. Thank you Lolapolooza for filling in the gaps. Sally, keep us posted with her progress. It will be interesting to see what your little baby looks like as she grows... and if you have more questions this will be the perfect place to have them answered. Glad that she was checked and there was only one in there. She's a lucky girl to labour and have a singleton pup without problems! That's great news.
  12. I love this suggestion that was entered to the suggestion thread It should be fun. Shooting to crop isn't as easy as it sounds. Most people compose photos in their camera based on what they see through the viewfinder. The standard crop for a camera is a ratio of 2:3 (this is why standard photos at your lab are printed as 4x6 inch prints. 5x7inches is a crop, as is 8x10 inches. 8x12 inches is full frame.) ANYWAY... this month, the challenge is to shoot your images with a crop in mind. The crop ratio has to be either 1:1 (square crop) or 1:2 (panorama). If you are wanting to know what size in inches to crop your images because you don't understand ratios... try 10x10 inches or 9x18 inches. btw - panoramic images are traditionally horizontal/landscape but if you really want to push yourself, shoot with a vertical crop in mind. More difficult but you can get some amazing images. and as always... HAVE FUN!
  13. I like the second one better but if I show you what you want, you're going to curse me because it costs money.
  14. I was waiting for someone to go in this direction for taste. btw - that is almost the dress that I bought for my first wedding back in 1998
  15. I'm a bit late but nice work! I would suggest perhaps a slightly different texture with a more 'uniform' pattern on it so it doesn't take away from the great compositional lines you have in there. At the moment my eyes are drawn to the spots of texture on the concrete at the bottom of the image (but I'm a freak and stuff like that stands out to me.) I like it. Well done
  16. Shell, this is just a 2 minute play. I softened her expression a touch using liquify (I don't mind that she looks a bit "tough" but I softened it because you said you didn't like it. ) I've brought out her eyes from the shadows Warmed it up slightly Added a hint of a texture over the top but painted it back over the skin areas to make her look a little softer. You could go the other direction and do a cool toned and harder/dramatic look but the warmth works also. You're on a good thing with these photos. Nice light too.
  17. If people are offended by this image, please post it in the thread and I'm more than happy to remove it, however this is my image of WOMAN (I did a boudoir shoot with 6 models last week. This is one of my favourite images )
  18. Shell... that second photo can be pushed further. Keep working on it! I love it.
  19. My lines tend to have 8+ pups in a litter. If I can kill two birds with one stone, it's a fantastic option.
  20. Imagine that squat position with your bum on the ground, legs slightly extended in front and leaning forward with your elbows on the ground. That's one of my usual positions.
