2010 Challenges - What Would You Like To See
Ashanali replied to Ashanali's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
We had a backlighting challenge late last year. I'm happy to do another one but it probably won't be until the second half of the year. -
That is brilliant :D Congratulations (see, DOL breeds photographers. ;) )

I'm glad I'm not the only one. -
Just had to share because a friend of mine is the photographer http://www.dogshome.com/woof-book-available-pre-order

I had another closer look at her tonight... I have no doubt there's babies in there.

Either that or they will get their clients to karate chop me out of the way.

Kayo's getting broader across the back and milk tracks are just starting to get bigger although I'm still not sure. She's a mystery.

I love that website. It used to be in my favourites but it disappeared.

Don't know about the posters above but if we are using the paper rolls they are the specific photo backdrop papers that you buy from professional photography stockists. Haven't bought one for years but they are around $150 for an 8 meter roll (give or take a few dollars). -
That would be nice... but competition is tougher.

If you're lazy, polar fleece works and it stays mostly crush free. -
Can't show our prints just yet as we haven't decided which ones we are entering for the national awards. Unfortunately there are some photographers around who like to copy images and enter them for awards and DOL is very searchable on google. Better to keep them off the net until we know what we're doing.

Relaxed doesn't mean that it can't be posed. It just means that you don't have everyone standing around looking very sitff. I would definitely be asking them what they want and even see if they can point out an example of what they're after. What you think is relaxed and what they think is relaxed could be vastly different.

It's a very small world. The winner of Qld Photographer of the year went to school with another DOLer and the winner of Qld Wedding Album of the Year owns Pointers that are bred by another DOLer and related to my dogs. Considering that there's only about 10 awards, the 'six degrees of seperation' thing has a pretty high hit rate on DOL. :D

elevit is just a multi-vitamin with extra folate, not a hormone. Yes, dogs need different vitamins to humans in different strengths but what's in elevit isn't going to hurt a dog. I have been known to give my girls multi-vitamins if they aren't big eaters.

OH! cute I love frenchies.

Serena, you left before the stuff happened that made me cry. I managed to get absolutely floored twice within a few minutes. Will email you.

Now to just give Tess that push...

Okay, Rocco knows I'm posting this so it's all good. Over the weekend we had the judging of the Queensland Professional Photography Awards. I have been nagging Rocco for the last 18 months or so to enter the awards and this year, after lots of excuses she gave in. :p Rocco has had an awesome weekend, as has my husband and I. At tonight's awards dinner, Rocco was awarded "Qld Emerging Photographer of the Year" I was awarded one of the toughest categories, "Qld Illustrative Photorgapher of the Year" My husband couldn't be there due to his stint in hospital but after the judging was over I was talking to the person who won Qld Wedding Photographer of the Year and went on to win Qld Professional Photographer of the year. He was keeping track of points and told me that only four points seperated him in first place and my husband who would have been in third place. D'oh! Still an AMAZING result. I was in the running for Qld Photographer of the year and as I stood on the stage, the only woman up there against men who are considered Gods in their genres, I looked at them and wondered what the hell I was doing on the stage. Just mindblowing. We are all stoked and totally gobsmacked and excited. We were both up against world renowned photographers and the comments that were made about all of our work were just fantastic. So there you go, the comment was made tonight that the photographers who stood in the room winning awards are among some of the finest in the world... and you happend to have two of them on DOL. ;) :D I just want to publicly congratulate Rocco for her win. It is truly a massive achievement and so well deserved. She had the whole room asking who she was - THAT is impact! :D

There is a small one at Macgregor I used to go to it all the time. It's near the netball courts/rugby fields/scout den This is it. It's hard to see from the road, you need to park your car in the carpark and walk behind the playground.

Urgent - Any Breeders With A Bitch In Season In Qld
Ashanali replied to BJean's topic in Breeders Community
If you get stuck I have one who is only JUST coming in (but you will probably find someone who is further progressed or maybe not use one at all.) -
I closely observe what the mum does with the first pup. If she's slow or looks as though she's going to chomp the cord too close then I will take over for all pups. If she's doing a good job and the pups are strong, the only thing I will do is remove the sack from the pup's face. I've only ever had to tie off two cords caused by overzealous mothers. I let them eat the first 2 or three placentas as they help to stimulate more contractions and bring in richer milk for pups in those vital first hours. I sometimes let mum eat a couple more if she's calm but has had a bit of a break in the whelping.

It's better. There's no such thing as fake HDR. There's HDR, then there's tonal contrast. Two different techniques that can give similar effects however with HDR you need three images layered together, tonal contrast you just need one image that is shot in RAW. I'll pm you the technique.

That's what I was thinking. Holding the dog around it's throat to stop it from squirming and held it too hard. Poor dog

I can tell you how to create a similar effect in LR/ACR if you like?
