Great news Anne Has the Club considered approaching Vet clinics to sponsor the ribbons? I know you received great support this year, but we had Vets clamouring to sponsor the award when it was first offered here. They may even sponsor an ONIS trophy. Just a thought to follow up now when businesses are looking at a new financial year.

I love my catalogues at shows and always collect the results. I guess I am preaching to the converted to many of you that have replied What I was asking about was the 'stealers'. So, do you think they value the catalogue, as long as they don't have to pay for it? I had a look at the number of people ordering catalogues for our show and it is about 2/3rds of the exhibitors. Potentially a lot of 'stealers' to keep an eye on Am trying something new this year. I am getting some of the exhibitors to proofread their own entries. Only those that have quite a few, or where I had problems with handwriting. OK, our catalogue is incredibly small and I have all their email addresses, but the feedback has been positive. The other thing I take into account is that if the catalogue is correct it flows on to the remainder of the paperwork and makes the stewards jobs a lot easier - no disputed classes on the day, etc. Hmmm, eLogues - definitely something to think about :D I know the Trial clubs up here are already offering the option.

It's that time of year when my computer desk is covered in doggie paperwork preparing a catalogue. How important to exhibitors is the catalogue?

Perhaps we can arrange his cheer squad at breakfast tomorrow morning?

Northern Territory Show Circuit 2011

::woot:: Bel :D There are still some entries at the RASNT office and others that hit mailboxes today that have yet to arrive plus the ones lodged at the various spots accepting entries yesterday and today. They will be picked up and acknowledgments sent next week. A question I have bounced around a few people already. The RASNT staff are organising an app for the official show site. I am looking at content the general public would want to find. I expect doggie people to source the schedule and understand the information, but a simplified page closer to the time. So far I have prepared a page for the programmers that searches for which breed on which night, start times and contact details for enquiries. Is that all? Other Section Managers take care of their own, but I want something simple and understandable for the general public that explains the Dog Section. -

Darwin Royal entries close a week tomorrow, Friday 17 June. I have already picked up some entries, checked them and sent acknowledgements. Really looking forward to catching up with some people in Alice Springs as they head North. Have had a couple of enquiries from exhibitors with Baby Puppies. Not a problem. Just need the confirmed name and registration number before the catalogue is finalised. It is fully understood that the longer closing time makes it hard with details for the babies. Baby Puppies get an especially warm welcome at the Darwin Royal :D -
Yep, pick me Heh S&T, did you find the shop selling the Dion Cheeky Dog stuff? We can show you where it is in Nightcliff shops.

Dog Showing – the Corporate Model 1. The Judge is contracted to an event. The organisers provide details of what will be provided. The judge completes their section. 14 days elapse and all is good. There is a ‘deal’. The biggie here is make sure you load up the judge with lots of jobs. You can take things away, but you cannot add to the contract. ** 2. The Schedule is the contract with exhibitors – the when, the where, with whom, what classes, trophies, provisos. The biggie here is that you must deliver what is promised. You can add extras, but cannot renege on offers made. ** 3. The entry form is the exhibitor’s agreement to take part. The biggie here is completeness/accuracy of information, (e)signature and (e)payment. An absence of any of these is a breach of contract. The Event could be best viewed using a retail model. You have advertised a product and people have chosen to ‘buy’. The customer experience should be positive, albeit that ‘staff’ are volunteers. Preparation and conduct of the event should include discretion, attention to detail, professionalism and courtesy. ** Klink is correct. If individual Judge’s contracts were non-specific as to Groups/General Specials, and the schedule was also non-specific then exhibitors would choose their option to enter or not. Where this would not work is areas like ours where we have smaller events. Klink has not indicated it would be mandatory. Excellent. I think I now better understand Klink’s way of thinking how it could work, however I believe any clubs following this method would suffer in their entries.

Klink, you did not answer this question.

I paid my Alice Springs Show Society membership yesterday. Air travel organised. Accommodation booked. Hire car organised. Thankfully I don't have to organise dogs and equipment. I am in denial about the clothes I need -
Serious question? Who was going to police the rule as it was? ...and yes I am interested to hear an update.
-
Lowenhart, you reminded me of my other question. For those accusing judges of face judging - what are your qualifications, and have you laid hands on the dogs? Yes, rhetorical, but are you judges? Oakway, I suspect you are right, but I always listen to you LOL
-
As a Show Manager I would hate mystery judges. I answer enough questions without the slippery slide of dodging that question. Frankly, the people that have travelled from elsewhere to the NT for one of our itty bitty shows are just thankful for the hospitality Just whereabouts in Australia do you think this would work?

The links to the official forms have been added to the Darwin Royal website - unofficial website is in the sigblock below - follow the link to 2011. Entries closes Friday 17 June 2011. I have a busy couple of months with my paid employment, so the best way to catch me is always via email as found on the website. The Dog Section form has provision for an email address. Once entries are picked up from the office they will be acknowledged. A reminder to anyone doing the NT Circuit and likely to be 'on the road'. Include an envelope without a stamp for your passes and numbers but clearly mark it as HOLD for delivery. I will be in Alice Springs the first July weekend and can also catch up with you in Darwin the weekend before the Royal. -

In preparation for the massive 6 Show 5 Trial weekend in early July Alice Springs put on a delightful weekend with glorious weather and four lovely shows and judges. Alice Springs!! Truly the heart of Australia, with hospitality to match. Many thanks to President Erica, Show Manager Deb, the awesome Carol in the Canteen, the stewards and exhibitors. The theme for the weekend was the Royal wedding and like a version of a bad news joke I was the only person in fancy dress on the Saturday, although my tiara was greatly admired. On Sunday the finery came into play with a special Brace class for dogs in Royal wedding theme. Results are on the DogsNT website and probably still need proffreading (sic). I know of at least one typo that needs fixing Many thanks all and see you in July Psst they are promising us a cold one -
Sway, you have to remember though that in the NT we usually only have one ring per event so we can afford to be generous. Indeed, our rings are usually slighter bigger than that. If we had to fit 7 rings on our main grounds I think Mr Greg would be having a pink fit The rings in Alice Springs this weekend were at least that size, and possibly larger.

There's already some amazing photos there. Incredibly emotive. The ones of Clare in the ring with Thor are incredible, but the ones sitting with Jasper and Thor are priceless I am sure there will be many happy people when the other photos start flowing through. WTG Ffi

Good question. I checked the various regulations, etc, and decided (maybe incorrectly) that if the Class was included in a schedule then 'yes' given that Classes 15 through 18 are now General Classes. It would be dependent on the appropriate Neuter Class/es being offered and entered. It does not violate the ANKC Regulation that neutered exhibits may not compete again entire exhibits for Challenges and/or Best of Breed. Disappointingly the NT appear to have dropped any reference to the Brace class. Don't know when that happened? Australian Capital Territory: 6.23 Classification of Special Classes: "Brace" For two exhibits of the same breed each six months of age or over owned by the exhibitor each of which has competed in at least one general class at the show. New South Wales: 6.6 Classification - Special Classes (1) "Brace". For two exhibits of the same breed each six months of age or over owned by the exhibitor each of which has competed in at least one General Class at the Show. Queensland: “BRACE” For two dogs six months of age or over of the same breed, the property of the same owner, each of which has competed in at least one breed class at the same exhibition, which are handled in the judging ring by the one person. South Australia: 1. Brace For two dogs six months of age or over and of the same breed, each of which is competing in at least one other Ordinary Class at the same Exhibition. Both must be handled in the judging precinct by one person. Tasmania – the only one slightly different in the class may only be offered at Parades (??): 123 Parades may also offer the following classes. BRACE – for two dogs six (6) months of age and over and of the same breed each of which has competed in at least one ordinary class at the same exhibition and the property of the same owner and handled in the judging ring by one person. Western Australia: 4.4 Other Classes: 4.4.1 Brace - for two dogs, each six months of age and over, of the same breed, each of which has competed in at least one ordinary class at the Sanctioned Show and each of which is registered in the same ownership and are handled in the judging ring by one person.
